The results are in from the fourth round of the Fantasy Football Scout Cup III, sponsored by Paddy Power, and can be viewed right here. For a round-up of how 64 became 32, read on…

In what was a low-scoring week all-round, Gazzamania narrowly came out on top with a handy 53 points. That earns him a free £25 bet courtesy of sponsors Paddy Power, and a spot in round five. Feeling the full force of that score was Ron Burgundy, who could only muster a lowly 21. That was the third-worst score of the round and, unsurprisingly, that tie had the widest margin of victory.

Just missing out on the week’s top-score by a single point was Manif, who killed off our former champion donnellyc 52 – 37, as I correctly predicted.

Also biting the dust this week is my fellow Scout, Granville. He lost 40 – 33 to Chris81, thanks largely to Charles N’Zogbia.

With no draws this week, all ties were all decided on points. The closest of which were single point victories for Dksbananas and Unwillingplayer, who were 37 – 36 and 41 – 40 victors over megatron x and Fiat_Chelsea respectively.

Mightily unlucky this round is Mighty and daniel.mf, as the former was involved in the highest scoring tie of the round, losing 51 – 43 to DollyDaisy, and the latter achieved the best score that failed to progress, in his 49 – 44 effort against olive.

Fortune instead favoured gooner dave, who had the lowest score good enough for a victory and his 29 – 22 game against Azfad was the lowest scoring tie of the round.

The wooden spoon for round four goes to xero131, who could only score a pitiful 15 points. Placidcasual was the benefactor there.

Congratulations to our final 32, and commiserations to those leaving us at this juncture.

With Gameweek 12 only a day away, there is no let-up in the schedule and our 32 Fantasy Managers will have only a few hours notice of their fifth round opponent; expect the draw this time tomorrow.

Looking to buy a striker for Bent. Options are Piquionne, Yakubu, Carroll and Odem, Gyan even. What do you guys reckon

i think Piquionne looks like a good option for the next 2 weeks -wouldnt want him long term though. How about someone like K.Davies? Either that or straight swap to Gyan doesnt seem terrible.
(think Yakubu might be under threat from the return of the glass man)

Concern with Gyan is Sunderlands fixtures. Already have Elmander so would like to spread the risk hence not considering Davies

fair point. but to be fair to Sunderland they normally manage a goal against whoever. Think Gyan will be pretty determined to take his chance. What about a Spurs striker for their two home games...Crouchy!?

Looking at a pretty boring transfer for tomorrow of Jara -> Simpson. Think Newcastle will end up with more clean sheets than WBA and you never know when you'll need 0.1m!
That should leave me to 2 free for the weekend to help with any mid-week injuries.
I keep coming back to wanting VanDeVart though, but im stubbonly holding onto Malouda for the moment. dont suppose you can see anyway of getting him in without losing nani or malouda?!

Options for this gameweek (taking a 4pt hit):

    a) Malouda + Hutton in for Nasri + Dann (+1 banked)
    b) A Cole + Ethers in for Adam/Nasri + Dann (0/2.1)
    c) Alex + Ethers in for Adam + Dann (+2.1)
    d) Kneejerk Torres + Ethers in for Pea + Nasri (+1.2)

Like Stoke/Chelsea/Spurs fixtures, but no VDV limits Spurs options...

    Thoughts?

Apologies for (revised) repost but sort of got missed on last thread:

Who to bench (1 only) out of:

    1. Simpson home to Blackburn

    2. Elmo away to Spurs

    3. Berb away to Man U

    4. Adam away to Villa

    What think?

Elmo imo, After Harry's gentle word with players don't see any CS for him, although spurs a bit leaky. Still my choice.

This game can be so frustrating, it must be a love hate thing. Last week my transfers were:

Tevez (8 points) to Hernandez (1 point)
    Nani (0 points) to NotsoFab(c) (2 point)

The killer was if I had done nothing (as advised by someone on here) I would have had Albrightons 9 points. Making a grand total of 14 points I missed out on! Pulls hair out in frustration...

i know. not sure what's worse...making changes and watching traded players + subs go wild or not making a change that you were set on, and then that player bringing home the bacon.
All i do know know is, two of my better weeks this year are when i've left my team alone. Not that that's going to stop me tinkering!

Appreciate your thoughts lads on changing...

Henandez to Tevez, which I think is a sound move in anyones book, and either Bosingwa out for a cheapie or Malouda out for Arteta.

Or leave well alone... what do you reckon?

Arteta is playing too far back, and Chelsea are the leading goal scorers in the premiership, with Malouda being the joint top goalscoring midfielder. They also have two favourable home games coming up, you do the math. The only danger is that Malouda might not play.

Right chaps I could use help here.

I would really like to do Berbatov>Tevez, however I also have Shawcross and Nani.

As such, I feel like I can't really justify transferring someone out when they will be playing on Wednesday when I have two players who definitely won't be.

        Any thoughts?

Excellent, I think he is safe for a while, Moyes said they have no one else to play there at the moment.

I'm debating throwing him the armband for midweek, stupid move?

Don't see Bolton scoring and any attacking points could be a big score.

        Drogba, Elmander, Carroll

this leaves 3 defenders, whos definitely in? whos defintely out? and whos in the middle if VDV cant go out of:

Don't think it would be on the day of a game, it's too late for the newspapers. He should do one tomorrow, but it's true that we may not be so lucky to know the bulk of the team.

whats the general consensus on Fabregas? time to let him go? The upcoming fixtures are not great, and knee jerking all over the show. The money he frees up leaves so many good options.

I agree. If he had some easier fixtures I'd be more patient, but I'm thinking of getting rid this week and then get him back as part of the new wildcard when he should be good by then and the tough fixtures for Arsenal are out of the way. I'm using the cash to form a Tevez-Drogba partnership upfront, which might be a Tevez-Torres partnership in a couple of weeks if Drogs doesn't pull his socks up!

He's one of the best PL players, and one of the most explosive FPL players. When Arsenal win, which is pretty often, he's odds on to pick up 3 bps not to mention the scope for goals, assists and the occasional CS point too. Don't be surprised when he gets 10, 15 or 20 points and redeems himself for the uncharacteristic 1s and 2s.

im understanding both your point of views, I need to get rid of Fabs to form the Drog/Tevez combination, which I think is the way forward. However, Teddys comment is what is holding me back. grrrrrrr, dont know!

I don't really see many good options though. Lampard and Gerrard not doing it this year. Arshavin and Milner too I guess. You can't really fill your midfield up with Brunt, Nolan and Adams either.

I guess there is the defence, but also doesn't seem like it's worth spending alot in defence either. I'm totally keeping Fabs if he is fit.

Even prior to his injury he wasn’t nearly as productive as last season – but on his return carlo may elect to change the current system round a bit, so lamps could very well be a great choice in a few weeks time

He scored in one game and assisted in the other while most other players started slowly, he only looked like he didn't do much as Drogba scored a hatrick.

                Write him off, miss out.

I’m not writing him off at all, and plan A at the moment is to get him in and keep fabs. May even get rooney once he is back!

To be fair, his performances were overshadowed at the time by Malouda and he was not as involved in the attacking third as last season.

you must be mind reader i was just thinking about that! i also have concerns not so much the injury but his loss confidence and form. i am of the school of thought that players like cesc, drogba, torres and a cole are worth the HUGE outlay if they are on form. niggly injuries i can handle. So I am thinking of lampard in for cesc in a couple of weeks
