The results are in from the fourth round of the Fantasy Football Scout Cup III, sponsored by Paddy Power, and can be viewed right here. For a round-up of how 64 became 32, read on…

In what was a low-scoring week all-round, Gazzamania narrowly came out on top with a handy 53 points. That earns him a free £25 bet courtesy of sponsors Paddy Power, and a spot in round five. Feeling the full force of that score was Ron Burgundy, who could only muster a lowly 21. That was the third-worst score of the round and, unsurprisingly, that tie had the widest margin of victory.

Just missing out on the week’s top-score by a single point was Manif, who killed off our former champion donnellyc 52 – 37, as I correctly predicted.

Also biting the dust this week is my fellow Scout, Granville. He lost 40 – 33 to Chris81, thanks largely to Charles N’Zogbia.

With no draws this week, all ties were all decided on points. The closest of which were single point victories for Dksbananas and Unwillingplayer, who were 37 – 36 and 41 – 40 victors over megatron x and Fiat_Chelsea respectively.

Mightily unlucky this round is Mighty and daniel.mf, as the former was involved in the highest scoring tie of the round, losing 51 – 43 to DollyDaisy, and the latter achieved the best score that failed to progress, in his 49 – 44 effort against olive.

Fortune instead favoured gooner dave, who had the lowest score good enough for a victory and his 29 – 22 game against Azfad was the lowest scoring tie of the round.

The wooden spoon for round four goes to xero131, who could only score a pitiful 15 points. Placidcasual was the benefactor there.

Congratulations to our final 32, and commiserations to those leaving us at this juncture.

With Gameweek 12 only a day away, there is no let-up in the schedule and our 32 Fantasy Managers will have only a few hours notice of their fifth round opponent; expect the draw this time tomorrow.

Any news on VDV? Will he start tomorrow, what to do if he is benched tomorrow, get rid. If Bale starts and VDV doesn't then I'll get Bale.

Saggy face said that he is doubtful for the game... There's an article on the Spurs website about it, and it seems pretty unlikely that he'll play.

I am having a difficult time in not wanting to lose value on selling players I've had for a while... i.e.

Had VDV from 7.6 now 8.2 will lose 0.3 if sold
Had Nani from 8.2 now 8.9 will lose 0.4
Had Malouda from 9.7 now 10.4 will lose 0.4

Am I mental holding on to such an expensive-looking bench while they get back to fitness? I just can't see me being able to get them back in (all of them definitely) if/when they start firing again...

What are people's views on this?

If they are long term then get rid as others will do the same and price will go down so you won't have the "losing money" problem.

      Malouda isn't injured.

Well I had all three last week and got rid of Nani, Malouda will play the next two GW's (FUL & SUN) favourable fixtures, so he stays. After those 2 GW's Man U have (WIG & BLA) favourable fixtures, so I will be getting in Nani for Malouda, Ok not ideal for pricing but points wise, it could be a beauty, with VDV it depends if he starts tomorrow evening or not... Crap actually I think I am out.... Now theres a problem.

        Thanks guys.

I'm sure I'm getting suckered into hanging on to money/value rather than looking at getting points. I'm beginning to think that one of my midfielders needs to go (to Brunt or something) to enable upgrades like Chamakh>Tevez and DEF>Cole.

You can bet your life that when I do get rid of one of them he'll bag a hat-trick. 🙁

Having sold Malouda, Nani and Berbatov in the last 2 weeks, losing 1m value in the process I must say it's refreshing not to feel obliged to hold onto someone purely for price reasons. Nani's the only one i'll probably buy back and hopefully his price drops like a stone.

Hernandez was always going to be a short term punt with wayne back this weekend. Chicha might grab a goal vs city, but the utd team is riddled with flu, and tbh, i can only see a draw at best for us.

I'll probably get rid of him in a couple of weeks, I can afford to bench him for the next two.

Is Rooney really that close to a return? It was only a couple of days ago when Fergie said that he was out for 'five weeks'. They must be taking good care of him down at Disneyland.

Hernandez 60 mins, Rooney 30 on the weekend. What i'm REALLY interested to know is if SAF will play them both. Berba has been completely off form sinse liverpool, and Rooney is our best player. Who knows. OdImwingie is going to turn my fortunes around (please).

not really, no. He's got an outside chance of assists though, so for 3.9m you can't really go wrong!

whats the chances of micah richards starting wed nite against united. he never played yesterday but was that because he was rested or injured.

Has any1 taken an 8 point hit before cos i mite need to as my team was flying then all of a sudden gone down so much. Is it worth it, for the right players? or is 8 points to much to lose?

8 point hits are rarely worth it, unless you're bringing in 3 players from good teams with easy home fixtures. Or you can't put out a fit 11 without the hit. Or it's a double gameweek (which is isn't).

got salcido, bent, nani and nasri all injured. so maybe just thinking of taking a 4 point hit and fielding sum subs who prob wont do much but probably works out better for me if the new tranfers dont do anything for me, and with my luck they prob wont!

If I were you I'd keep hold of Nani (due back from injury soon, possibly even for the City game) and sell Salcido (out for a few weeks, I think). Don't know how long Bent is out for, and is Nasri definitely injured?

Piquionne short-term, Elmander medium-term (assume you already have Carroll. If not, get him.)

So I think I'm going to do

    Chamakh to Tevez

and to fund that deal a 4 point hit

O'Shea to Konchesky or Coleman or Kyrgiakos

    Who do we think?

I was thinkin the same thing but if i compare piquionne with him over the next 4 weeks i feel there wont be much of a difference in their points return plus I'll have the cash to probably replace him with tevez week 16.

Yeah I thought Piquionne but I want to get rid of O'Shea as well and need Tevez back in my team!

        He can score against anyone

      konchesky out of those 3!
kyrigiakos didnt even play against chelsea and with johnson on the mend looks like he might bebench warming for a while

im thinking of doing this move too,

      my backline is
      salcido coleman mummy simpson konchesky

im thinking of downgrading salcido to bring in tevez for chamakh, but it would have to be a 4.3 defender, would this weaken my backline too much? and who is the best choice at 4.3?
