The results are in from the fourth round of the Fantasy Football Scout Cup III, sponsored by Paddy Power, and can be viewed right here. For a round-up of how 64 became 32, read on…

In what was a low-scoring week all-round, Gazzamania narrowly came out on top with a handy 53 points. That earns him a free £25 bet courtesy of sponsors Paddy Power, and a spot in round five. Feeling the full force of that score was Ron Burgundy, who could only muster a lowly 21. That was the third-worst score of the round and, unsurprisingly, that tie had the widest margin of victory.

Just missing out on the week’s top-score by a single point was Manif, who killed off our former champion donnellyc 52 – 37, as I correctly predicted.

Also biting the dust this week is my fellow Scout, Granville. He lost 40 – 33 to Chris81, thanks largely to Charles N’Zogbia.

With no draws this week, all ties were all decided on points. The closest of which were single point victories for Dksbananas and Unwillingplayer, who were 37 – 36 and 41 – 40 victors over megatron x and Fiat_Chelsea respectively.

Mightily unlucky this round is Mighty and daniel.mf, as the former was involved in the highest scoring tie of the round, losing 51 – 43 to DollyDaisy, and the latter achieved the best score that failed to progress, in his 49 – 44 effort against olive.

Fortune instead favoured gooner dave, who had the lowest score good enough for a victory and his 29 – 22 game against Azfad was the lowest scoring tie of the round.

The wooden spoon for round four goes to xero131, who could only score a pitiful 15 points. Placidcasual was the benefactor there.

Congratulations to our final 32, and commiserations to those leaving us at this juncture.

With Gameweek 12 only a day away, there is no let-up in the schedule and our 32 Fantasy Managers will have only a few hours notice of their fifth round opponent; expect the draw this time tomorrow.

Bringing in Tim Cahill for Nasri seems silly when Nolan is so much cheaper and has two good home games coming up.

Then I have to pick 3 defenders to start out of Jagielka, Gary Cahill, Konchesky and Elmo.

Ok need advice on whether to do a second transfer

    Foster (Carson)
    Elmo, Cole, Coleman, Simpson (Jara)
    Fab, Nzog, Adam (VDV, Nani)
    Obinna, Carroll, Drog
    5.2 in the bank

Have 1 free transfer remaining (already done Chamakh > Carroll)
    My thoughts are.....
    1 - Adam > Cahill
    2 - Adam > Arteta
3 - Obinna to Tevez (although less keen on this after Obinna
4 - Do nothing and have two free transfers available next week

Please cast your votes (or offer a 5th suggestion)
    Cheers

Yup. I'm convinced he is a great option for this week. He gets so fired up anyway, he will be desperate to do well on Wednesday and will probably earn bonus for running around like a maniac anyway. Also united look shocking at the moment so i think City will win, and there will be goals in it.

In fairness, no Drogba makes it an easier choice.

Anyway, I will def keep Cesc this GW - no point selling vs Wol; but will not do the same mistake as I did for Rooney at the beginning of the season (waiting way too long hoping for a peak in form) - fixtures are against him as well

He hit the bar, and i'd disagree about the save, was very close to a goal.

On the other side of the coin, how many weeks will Arsenal not score?
I don't think anyone could argue we're yet to see the best from him, not sure why some people are getting so jittery with him. imo obvs

I'm hoping as well the Wednesday game will be a bit more open. Newcastle did well but were obviously playing very defensively. All it takes is one early Arsenal goal for the game dynamic to completely change and the floodgates to open.

He was never a short term option for me anyway, him and Arsenal are obviously not at their best so i will hold tight. I hate getting players in and then getting rid before they've had a chance to do well.

anybody who has watched him play since his return wouldn't really question his fpl scoring power it's the ones who don't watch that are making those unpleasant noises.

right, Tevez is coming in for Berb, only thing is who to drop from midfeild to fund it: Arteta, VDV, Fabs, Malouda?

thinking VDV then get him back when fit...

I think it was Big Vern who mentioned taking out Fabregas. I agree. How long do we have to wait for results? He's just not looking right with himself. I checked the top 20 world teams and very few of them have Fabs in.

Taking him out for Cahill lets me replace Berbatov with Tevez. 2 players with 2 home games this week and Cahill definitely going up tonight.

    Doesn't that seem logical?

considering those exact moves as one of a few options, not sure though. Fabregas isnt suddenly rubbish. One big week and he'll be "essential" etc etc. only problem is when is that big week going to come?

Against the grain, anyone who doesn't own Malouda considering Nic Anelka?

I am tempted a bit. He's only 8.9M. Anelka has 10 goals - leading scorer for Chelsea (5 in Europe, 3 in the league, 2 in cup play.) Here are the positives and negatives:

Positives - at 8.9M he is 1.5M cheaper than Malouda and he has scored 30 league goals in the last 2 years - average of 15 per season. Consistency is great.

This year in the league - only 3. That means he's got about 10-12 more goals in him (not including assists / bonus) in the next 26 games or so.

He's also been kicked out of France national team so doesn't have injury layoff fears during INTL breaks.

Negatives - Lack of involvement on set pieces. Drogba's popularity with the BP panel. Owning 2 strikers from the same team. Other options in that range (Van Persie in 2-3 weeks when fit?) that could be more prolific.

The only reason I bring this up is because I have Chamakh at 8.4M and 0.5M in the bank and don't want to take a hit this week.

I also have Nani and Gohouri out - so may focus on them. Still Chamakh to Anelka for no points hit looks tempting for the next 3 weeks as no one will own Anelka in my mini league but me.

        Haha probably won't buy him.

I think my move this week ( - 4) is getting rid of Chamakh and Nani and bringing in Tevez and a midfielder less than 6.8M.

I looked up Meireles stats in Portugal and he gets between 5 and 10 assists per season and about 2 - 5 goals.

He looked great against Chelsea and I may take a punt, though there are obviously way better long term plays like N'Zogbia, Dempsey, and others for cheaper...
