Our Watchlist rankings have had a quick-fire update following last night’s action, which effectively saw the passing of another of Gameweek. No doubt tonight’s events will bring further changes, but those looking for a quick guide to some mid-term player recommendations can take a glance in their sidebar on the frontpage for our latest rankings.

The headlines include Rafael Van der Vaart’s climb to the top of the Midfielders, thanks in no small part to another goal last night, the injury doubt surrounding Nani (who will re-enter our rankings once we know more) and the continued dip in form for Chelsea’s Florent Malouda…

Improved fixtures for Wolves, Bolton, Liverpool and Man City from Gameweek 13 onwards, has their players all enjoying climbs up our tables across the positions. Marcus Hahnemann appears to offer strong value in the Goalkeeper category, while in front of him we’ve currently gone for Christophe Berra with doubt surrounding the continued starting roles of Richard Stearman and Kevin Foley. Matt Jarvis in Midfield and Kevin Doyle in the Forwards, also climb the table as a result of their promising run of opponents following tonight’s clash with Arsenal.

The Bolton pairing of Kevin Davies and Johan Elmander have climbed to their highest position of the season. Their run of form coincides with a decent run of fixtures which should add up to continued returns in the coming weeks. West Brom’s Peter Odemwingie is sandwiched in between; he’s expected to return against West Ham tonight and looks a strong proposition at 5.1 in the Fantasy Premier League game, with some obliging defences heading his way over the next six Gameweeks.

We will bring you news of any notable changes as a result of tonight’s matches and over the next 48 hours we will be looking closer at a couple of our most notable movers in the rankings.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

I think a life-time ban is an absolute disgrace. Now I'm not saying I agree with what they did but it's not like having an opinion is against the law. Wearing/not wearing a poppy is not law and I think they're bowing to social pressure. What they were protesting about was not having a poopy on their jersey not the fact that it's remembering past soldiers or the fact that it helps to support recent severely injured soldiers

couldnt agree more Damo, lifetime ban is a f**king joke. WOnt be buying another celtic jersey ever, and ill be letting them know that via email

thousands upon thousand of Irish died fighting for the crown in both wars, if people want o wear them, then fine, but if they dont , they dont. And if we really go deeply into it, there WERE many civilian Irish deaths, and has been for 100's of years. Not to mention the Iraqi civilian war dead, which is over 50k now since that contrived war began.

Fairly understandable of they want to protest these facts by not wearing a poppy.

a lifetime ban is simply ridiculous.

Check out this email I got in reply to a complaint about etherington's 'assist'. Which game were they watching?

    Hi there

Etherington has been awarded an assist for Stoke City's third goal against Birmingham, scored by Whitehead. He crossed the ball along the ground towards Whitehead and the ball took 2 deflections before reaching Whitehead, who scored. As the ball was travelling towards Whitehead before the deflections and, as such, the deflections did not significantly alter the speed or direction of the ball, an assist was awarded.

    From the rules:

These are awarded to the player from the goal scoring team who makes the last pass before a goal is scored.

If during this pass, an opposing player significantly alters the speed or direction of the ball, then no assist is given except if this intervention directly results in an own goal.

The Press Association provide all the data for our games, and we will pass your comments on to them.

However as it states in the rules:

"Neither we nor the Press Association will enter into any correspondence relating to the allocation of points to players."

    Regards
    FPL

Just saw the goal now as I wanted to see what was causing such controversy. Its 100% not an assist. However, I wouldn't mind if FPL changes the rules to make it clear cut and said something like "last person from same team to touch the ball prior to the goal scorer is awarded an assist". Whilst we may get stupid assists like this one, there would at least be consistency.

Sometimes in the middle of a match that I am watching, I will run up stairs to check my scores (PC is in my room), when I am lazy I will use WAP on my phone, I can NEVER avoid the scores, but it is always great when you can only to find out you did really well.

In typical nerdy fashion, I try and avoud the "Latest Points" so I can scroll through each fixture to see who has got what so far, so I won't "ruin" it by finding out too soon and being disappointed immediately by finding that my players did crap! Sad...

Yeah that was slightly better than usual. But their whole format is tedious. Trying and failing miserably to be funny, talking crap rather than being critical observers or "pundits" as they were once regarded as. They need to take a leaf out of RTE's show of actually having a football debate with OPINIONS and lose the wisecrack innuendo nonsense. Having said that we all remember the darker days of PL highlights (ITV)

Someone mentioned the MOTD Challenge earlier - trying to avoid the scores all day to watch it fresh. I find it's not even good enough just relaxing to watch it. Lineker can never help dropping in a sneaky comment or raise of the eyebrow that gives a good clue as to whats happened in at least one game. He has to be muted, the swine! 🙂

Also, if they actually show a sub coming on, rather than just the writing at the bottom of the screen then chances are the guys about to score.

I dont know has this been said regarding Van der vart (i didnt bother reading the comments) but are his fixtures looking a bit tougher over the next few weeks long term blackb arsenal liverpool chelsea..
Am I wrong in saying that the ship has sailed on vdv like a vart in the wind...?

fair point trigger lips but any band wagon I jumped on this season has crashed...I am barely inside the top 200k this season.
I might start looking for mid table "value" players like mark does with bolton etc
I think I was over confident after last season.
And I dont like this two wildcard a season thing everyone's team will end up the same.
I was thinking of writing to fpl and asking them to get rid of the wildcards all together!

Completely agree about the wildcards. After all these injuries teams are finally starting to look slightly different and that should be more so over the congested christmas period. The 2nd wildcard will just put it back to the way it was 2 weeks ago.

I don't think so, he is a big game player, I think he fancies something bigger and better than Spurs, and will always look to play well against the top sides to prove a point. He is on everything for Spurs, and I think Defoe and Crouch soon will only increase his effectiveness.

    Opt 1) Nolan -> VDV
Opt 2) Hernandez -> KDavies AND Adam -> VDV (4pt hit)
    Opt 3) Elmo > 4.6 Defender AND Adam -> VDV (4pt hit)

Basically a can't do Adam to VDV as I'm 0.2 short

My mid is currently: Nani, Malouda, Fabs, Nolan, Adam

Off home, enjoy the games and watch out for that substitution or ball running out for a corner on MOTD 🙂

In the derby, I'd like Carlos Tevez to smear his body in blue wode and Incan symbols before chasing Alex Ferguson down the tunnel with a massive sacrificial knife. That'd be great.
