Hot on the heels of the Fifth Round results, I bring you the fixtures for the last 16 of the Fantasy Football Scout Cup III, sponsored by Paddy Power. With just eight match-ups to look at this time, it’s clear to see that the competition is reaching it’s conclusion. So without further ado, here are the all important fixtures…

  1. Back to Back Ballacks Vs. gooner dave
  2. DRP Vs. Animons
  3. Manif Vs. tippman
  4. Roger Vs. DaFoe22
  5. Ann_der_roo Vs. User
  6. sandgrounder Vs. Anorak
  7. BigRig Vs. Dksbananas
  8. DollyDaisy Vs. RJBroughton

The first fixture sees 3,297th in the world gooner dave taking on Back to Back Ballacks, who sits 85,623rd. Plenty of differentials in this one, with just six identical players. Despite the gulf in overall rank, it’s actually Back to Back Ballacks who has the greater squad value, so this tie is very difficult to call. Tevez could be the difference.

Next up, we have a closely-matched tie, as DRP (sitting on 665 points) takes on Animons (on 664 points). That point lead effectively gives DRP a half-point advantage going into the game, provided he doesn’t make another transfer.

Then we see tournament-outsider Manif, who is the lowest ranked manager left in the competition (despite moving up over 400k places since before round one), taking on tippman, who of course beat Mark in the very first round.

Last week’s top-scorer Roger (1,851st overall), has been drawn against DaFoe22 (6,028th overall). Once again the lower-ranked contender has the, albeit slight, team value advantage. An unusual tactic from Roger, sees him looking for the clean sheets that cost. With Petr Cech setting you back £6.7m, Ashley Cole £8.3m, Nemanja Vidic £7.4m and Leighton Baines£7.0m (with Seamus Coleman there to double up on Everton defenders), good defensive returns could be enough to see Roger through to the quarter-finals.

Round three top-scorer, and highest ranked manager in the competition, Ann_der_roo (44th in the world) takes on 13,266th in the world, User.

Spurs-fan Anorak will have his loyalties tested when he takes on sandgrounder, as Rafael Van der Vaart looks to be a key differential for the latter. On the flip-side, Liverpool-fan sandgrounder will have his loyalties tested when he takes on Anorak, as Paul Konchesky looks to be a key differential for the latter.

The penultimate tie of the round pits BigRig against Dksbananas. Both will be looking to show their bouncebackability and end the week with not only a quarter-final place, but also a green arrow.

Last, but by no means least, is DollyDaisy‘s game against RJBroughton. Both men sit locked together on 667 points, but it’s DollyDaisy’s superior midfield of Cesc Fabregas, Tim Cahill, Rafael Van der Vaart, Mikel Arteta and Matthew Etherington, to RJBroughton’s midfield of Clint Dempsey, Luis Nani, Gareth Bale, Mikel Arteta and Karl Henry, that will be the key difference for me.

So that’s that, all fixtures will be played out over Gameweek 13, and I’ll bring you the results early next week, before the live quarter-final draw on next podcast. As always, the top-scorer for the round will earn a free £25 bet courtesy of Paddy Power.

[All previous results can be viewed right here.]

      Ivanovic could be a poor buy when Alex is back and Bosingwa holds down the right back slot.

      Other than that, it's a very pretty side, and you should score really well.

      I think defense is more important this season than people think.

      Look at this week's Scout Cup winner, Roger. He has Cech, Vidic, Cole and Baines. He's up to the 1400s and has had something like 10 green arrows in a row.

    Foster Carson
    Konchesky, Alcaraz, Williamson, Elmohamady, Coleman
    Malouda, Fabregas, Nani, Arteta, Adam
    Drogba, Carroll, Piquionne
    3.3m in bank

    considering any def to Kolarov but notice Fosters games in next 10 are not the best, might do Foster > Hahnemann or Carson > Hahnemann.

      Maybe wait on Kolarov til you know he's going to start. I really want him as well.

      Zhirkov isn't a bad shout, now that Lamps is out for 2-3 weeks, and Essien is banned for 3 games, he's likely to start at left midfield - OOP Chelsea def for 6.2m.

    Hey everyone! Need a bit of advice here regarding transfers. My team is:

    Foster, Krul
    Elmohamady, Konchesky, Dann, Bosingwa, Coleman
    Adam, Nasri, Bale, Cahill, Nani
    Drogba, Tevez, Hernandez

    I have 1.2 in the bank and 1 free transfer. Was considering doing Bale ----> VDV. But I'm really not too sure, the most i'd want to make is a 4 point hit. So is there anything you guys would recommend?

    1) Did Ancelotti say the line up (or part of it)?

      1) Dunno, missed the press conference because I was playing on Black Ops too! From what I gather he has to choose between Ferreira and Bosingwa for the RB role, the midfield picks itself (Lampard and Essien both being out for 2-3 weeks) so it will be Mikel, Ramires and Zhirkov, and I think he said that Drogba will start.

      Cech
      Bosingwa Ivanovic Terry Cole
      Ramires Mikel Zhirkov
      Anelka Drogba Malouda

      ....is the most likely team.

      2) I've brought him in so I bloody well hope that he does! Chances are that he will though. Birmingham at home is a great time to ease him back into things.

      3) 3-4 weeks isn't it? So time to get rid.... You thinking about Salcido to Kolarov then?

        Think you've jumped the gun a bit early on Kol. Mancini has a fully fit squad to choose from, and he only played 11 mins of the last game. 30 - then 90 next week i reckon. He's going to cause you a lot of rotation annoyance too, it is Mancini after all.

                  Blackburn will make it tough for Spurs, and Samba will be all over Crouch winning all the headers and stopping VDV from scoring his classic goal from a Crouch nod down....

                  Feels wrong not to captain Drogba in a relatively straight forward home game... And it's about time we were given a penalty!

                Bridge is worse than Richards, and will be used to rest Kolarov rather than ongoing rotation

                barry at LB? Surely not? I suppose he may as well be playing in defence when he starts in midfield!

                Milner ditto.

                Zabaleta - isnt he better at RB? The left backs havent looked great for city this season...

        Cheers guys.

        Yup Jam Pies, looks like I'm definitely doing:
        Salcido -> Kolarov

        But my defence is a mess in general so thinking about a 4 point hit, or maybe even a wild 8 pointer (getting rid of Fabregas, I know, I know. But the fixtures are truly awful) and beefing up my defence. That would be:
        Salcido -> Kolarov
        Fabregas -> VDV
        Dann -> Vidic

        And it would leave me with enough cash to get Nani in for Bale next week. I've had a pants few weeks sliding down the rankings and fancy a silly gamble.

          Dunno, didn't see the press conference, but he doesn't really have much of a choice.. Unless he wants to play McEachran against Cattermole, which I very much doubt he will.

          Zhirkov will be safe for the next few weeks with Essien and Lampard both unavailable.

            Cool thanks, I'm going for it as captain, if he fails its on your head.

            I am worried that he could put Malouda into midfield and play Kalou upfront in his place.

                Still, not sure that I would captain him though... He's spends the majority of the time fannying around on the left to cover for Cashley... He'd almost be a better option if he wasn't playing in midfield, rather do the same job that Cole does from LB.
