Many owners have been trying to squeeze three or even four upper bracket midfielders into their lineups this season and as a result, there has been less demand for the mid and budget price options in this area of our squads. The likes of Kevin Nolan, Charlie Adam, Chris Brunt, Joey Barton, and most recently Charles N’Zogbia, have hogged the limelight when it comes to these selections to this point, and Scott Parker and Morton Gamst Pedersen have recently staked a claim as viable options at the sub-6.0 price point.

One name that is now due a seat around the cheap midfielders table is Wolves’ fleet-footed winger Matthew Jarvis. He has shown, with some consistency, form that has threatened even the most robust defence but has suffered from a fixture list that has lent him little assistance when it comes to boosting his Fantasy points tally. In addition, Wolves have hardly been the most prolific of scorers and, while Jarvis has been a reliable supplier of the crossed ball, Mick McCarthy’s side have lacked a free-scoring striker to convert opportunities.

Amidst continued talk fluttering about a possible England call-up and a potential January transfer, Jarvis is now preparing to embark on a run of fixtures that could see him emerge with his best individual totals between now and the end of the season. Jarvis has the opportunity to impress and Wolves will face a run of opposing defences that may yet see them notch a few wins and convert some of their wingers’ creativity.

Jarvis arrives at Gameweek 13 with an unspectacular but healthy 42 Fantasy points in the Fantasy Premier League (FPL) game, having tallied 2 goals, 1 assist, and 8 bonus points for his efforts. While that total currently finds him just squeezing into the top 30 Fantasy Midfielders, his early season performance becomes slightly more respectable when you consider that Wolves have already faced Everton, Fulham, Tottenham, Villa, Chelsea, Man City, Man United, and Arsenal during their opening stretch of games.

Looking forward, the first meetings with these “stronger” teams are out of the way. As hit upon by Andy in the recent Frisking the Fixtures, Wolves now hit a very attractive stretch of 7 games through Boxing Day: BOL, blp, SUN, blr, BIR, wba, and WIG. It definitely looks like much clearer sailing ahead.

Owned by 1.1% of of the FPL teams, Jarvis is a long shot in his own right, but seems poised to take off. Alternatively, if you’re digging the Wolves’ schedule and want to gamble on an even bigger differential, you might consider joining the other 0.2% of Fantasy Managers who own Stephen Hunt. Having recently returned from injury, Hunt has yet to produce any Fantasy results in 45, 63, 63, and 83 minutes during the past 4 games, but has been a steady, if not spectacular low-priced options in seasons past.

    Massa (Petrov)
Barrichello, Schumacher, Heidfeld, Sutil (Chandok) (Glock)
    Hulkenberg, Kubica, Kobayashi, Hamilton (Button)

Quite happy with the strong front pairing and Schumacher’s experience at the back, even if he is not the force he once was. Kubica is a bonus point magnet, while Hamilton and Kobayashi's aggressive attacking midfield tendancy should ensure some extra points. Youngster Hulkenberg is a snip to play in midfield.

Seriously thinking of signing Milijas this week. Was looking at Jarvis, but that extra 0.3m could be a real boost and would allow me to sign Nani next week.

The problem is, I'd need Milijas to be playing 90 minutes every week during this good run of Wolves fixtures. Lots of talk on here about how his place in the side is not secure and that he's liable to be dropped. Who'd take his place?

    Any Milijas info gratefully received!

Can't see him not getting 80+ minutes. I prefer Milijas to Jarvis as he has the better scoring potential. the only thing that's in Jarvis favour are the BPs.

Not seen much of Wolves, but I guess he's still on free-kicks?

        And Doyle on pens?

Milijas has been the best player for the wolves the last 4 matches he's started. Vs Chelsea he took like 12 shots and put 8 on target. He's playing in the center most times and always seems to be around the box, ready to shoot!

Vs Man City he scored and was at the heart of everything wolves did, even though jarvis was praised.

Vs United he earned an assist in a game where mccarthy was making no attempts to get forward.

Vs United he was average, took 2 shots on target but vanished most of the game.

I know you dont have him but Nani!! I am a villa fan (season ticket holder) and think they will beat us comfortably tomorrow lunch time.

We have the kids playing in CMF (even though they look good) think the far more experienced United MF will dominate us (even without scholes).

We will more than likely play 4-5-1 with Delfouneso up front (unless gabby is able to start!). And that will suit United's MF!

I can see Nani running the show with atleast goal and assist!

How 'essential' is Cashley then lads? Is it worth the extra over Alex?

Could be the difference between getting Tevez in or not for me unfortunately 🙁

At least if you get Cashley you won't be asking why didn't he play this week and using endless transfers playing find the chelsea defender for this week.

If this helps you, I think Cashley is a must have. I already have Alex but am getting Cashley in this week anyway.

Quite happy to go with 2 Chelsea defenders but may swap Alex for Rio next week as Utd have nice home games coming up so some Utd defensive coverage for cleanies might be a good idea.

Either way if you only can have one Chelsea defender it really should be Cole. I can tell ye, its a cold, lonely place not having Ashley in your team!

Cashley is "essential", I don't have him and have finally accepted that you are paying for (a) a guaranteed starter (maybe a rest here and there) his (b) attacking threat, and that he is more or less the same as other OOP players.

Cech has been blinking on my radar however, being the cheaper guaranteed starter, and my keeper rotation to this point has been less than stellar!

    Team feedback please....

    Carson

    Mummy Konchesky Jones

    Malouda Adam Fabregas N'zogbia

    Torres Drogba Carrol

    Subs: Foster, Bale, Dann, Enrique

Is leaving bale on the bench a risk? Should he be switched for Adam or N'Zogbia

And the ultimate question - who to captain??

I think with crouch playing style and teams tending to double up on him i would stay away from him for now. Until defoe comes back that is.

Having said that however like chamakh he might just suprise us once in a while, especially against the difficult teams.

If you keeping him then surely you got to play him or else find someone who looking good for points and replace him. Dont drop him just for the sake of it now.

This is my line up for this weekened, any suggestions for the 2 transfers i got?

    Krul (foster)
    Konchesky Boateng Foley (Al-muhamady,P Jones)
    Fabs, Malouda, Vdv Arteta (Davies)
    Drogba Carroll Elmander

    0.7m in the bank

I was thinking about getting alex in but means i will have to drop one of the big boys. I know davies has to go but can only afford nzog, miss out on the likes of brunt, adams etc

lol i dropped nani for vdv only this mid week, i can see them struggling against villa ( history and recent villa home form and man u injuries). Was thinking of getting him back for malouda next week.

But i can see where you comming from about arteta, just bloody dont have the guts to drop him. I have strong feelings for him 🙂

I was thinking the same, but this week he goes out of my team for Nani (I bought Arteta just becasue of Nani's injury... and get nithing from him). Ok, you can wait for one more week, but then Nani is a must have!

How many penalties have West Ham conceded this season?

I want to bench Adam this weekend, but literally EVERY TEAM seems to get a penalty at Upton Park.

My front 8 will almost certainly be:

    Malouda, Bale, Fabregas, Adam, Milijas
    Carroll, Tevez, Drogba

Am I right to drop Adam to the bench, or should it be someone else this week?

I am toting with gerrard I watch Stoke play every week however and on Tuesday they looked really tired, also midfielders do a good chunk of the damage and as we play deep Torres won't be able run in the channels like normal nullifying him but gerrard would get a lot of space,

As for Parker, west ham score goals Blackpool concede goals and when west ham do score goals Parkers always involved
