Many owners have been trying to squeeze three or even four upper bracket midfielders into their lineups this season and as a result, there has been less demand for the mid and budget price options in this area of our squads. The likes of Kevin Nolan, Charlie Adam, Chris Brunt, Joey Barton, and most recently Charles N’Zogbia, have hogged the limelight when it comes to these selections to this point, and Scott Parker and Morton Gamst Pedersen have recently staked a claim as viable options at the sub-6.0 price point.

One name that is now due a seat around the cheap midfielders table is Wolves’ fleet-footed winger Matthew Jarvis. He has shown, with some consistency, form that has threatened even the most robust defence but has suffered from a fixture list that has lent him little assistance when it comes to boosting his Fantasy points tally. In addition, Wolves have hardly been the most prolific of scorers and, while Jarvis has been a reliable supplier of the crossed ball, Mick McCarthy’s side have lacked a free-scoring striker to convert opportunities.

Amidst continued talk fluttering about a possible England call-up and a potential January transfer, Jarvis is now preparing to embark on a run of fixtures that could see him emerge with his best individual totals between now and the end of the season. Jarvis has the opportunity to impress and Wolves will face a run of opposing defences that may yet see them notch a few wins and convert some of their wingers’ creativity.

Jarvis arrives at Gameweek 13 with an unspectacular but healthy 42 Fantasy points in the Fantasy Premier League (FPL) game, having tallied 2 goals, 1 assist, and 8 bonus points for his efforts. While that total currently finds him just squeezing into the top 30 Fantasy Midfielders, his early season performance becomes slightly more respectable when you consider that Wolves have already faced Everton, Fulham, Tottenham, Villa, Chelsea, Man City, Man United, and Arsenal during their opening stretch of games.

Looking forward, the first meetings with these “stronger” teams are out of the way. As hit upon by Andy in the recent Frisking the Fixtures, Wolves now hit a very attractive stretch of 7 games through Boxing Day: BOL, blp, SUN, blr, BIR, wba, and WIG. It definitely looks like much clearer sailing ahead.

Owned by 1.1% of of the FPL teams, Jarvis is a long shot in his own right, but seems poised to take off. Alternatively, if you’re digging the Wolves’ schedule and want to gamble on an even bigger differential, you might consider joining the other 0.2% of Fantasy Managers who own Stephen Hunt. Having recently returned from injury, Hunt has yet to produce any Fantasy results in 45, 63, 63, and 83 minutes during the past 4 games, but has been a steady, if not spectacular low-priced options in seasons past.

Next week Malouda & Elmander -> Tevez & Milijas is looking tempting but would leave 0 in the bank so need to hope for no price rises! It's tempting to do it this week but would be a 8 point hit. Will give:

    Foster Jaas
    A.Cole Coleman Jara Simpson Gohouri
    Fabregas Nani VDV Nzogbia Milijas
    Drogba Tevez Carroll.

Really? It makes sense in a way as Davies can score at home, Elmander can't but I no what ur saying about City but it's pretty much certain if/when City score, Tevez is involved! It will be my third stint with Tevez, he's generally so reliable.

I know, problem is if I keep Tevez i need to let one of Alex/malouda go, to get nani / some bolton cover.

Maybe Alex-->Cahill(bolt)? Original idea was to do Carrol-->KDavies, but then Carrol ran into some form. Might still do that though.

I like Alex to Cahill in a way but Alex seems pretty regular when fit. I'm happy to lose Malouda after this week now, Chelsea have some really tough games coming and Drogba & Cole is enough for me. For me I'll probably keep Carroll all season, he's cheap and I think u have to just take the rough with the smooth from him.

Already done Arteta -> Nani this week, might regret it but Arteta was pissing me off an i know people think Villa will be hard game but Blackpool reserves score twice at Villa and i also wanted to beat Nani's price rise.

Planning on having Adam, Nani, Essien, Brunt, Van de Vaart, Carol and Tevez.
Any thought on who to Captain? Edging towards Adam or Tevez....

Have two free transfers, what you guys think of

    Chamakh and Nasri out

    Lee and Tevez in

planned on getting Jarvis but Tevez rising scuppered that plan!

Didn`t read all comments here so someone might have pointed it out, but:
Jarvis: 5.3 million, 42 points in 12 games = 3.5 points per game
Milijas: 5.0 million, 17 points in 4 games = 4.25 points per game

Milijas seems in form now as well, if I could chose one Wolves player I would go with him.

For reasons which I can't even explain, I have Keiron Dyer in my team... I know, I know.

Surely if there was ever a game to play him, it's this weekend? He was warming my bench with 5 points on Wednesday.

Does dropping Nani or Nasri for him sound a bit drastic? Advice welcomed.

I'd play Dyer over Nasri this week.

Dyer looked great on Wednesday and will surely do well again against Blackpool.

I can see a goal and an assist for the glass boy.

        Ye man, I agree.

I put him in that week he was getting rave reviews in the Sunday rags, and for 4.3 I thought he'd be worth a cheeky punt. Just havn't had a chance to get shut since he went missing.

Now we have Blackpool visiting, and a fit Dyer again.

I may give him one more chance... thanks mate.

Is Evra definitely out, this weekend?
If so Evra -> Vidic for 0.2 sounds logical.
Then my patched up side (39 pts last week) is:
    Schwarzer
    A. Cole - Samba - Vidic
    Yaya - Arteta - Nasri - Malouda (C) - Ethers
    Varney - Obinna
Subs: Jaaskelainen - Elmander - Elmo - Warnock

Haven't seen that. If he isn't could do well as full-backs will get lots of space against Villas defensive 4-5-1.

He takes some of the free-kicks so long as Jones isn't playing.

I think Doyle is on pens, but as Doyle is a doubt this weekend he's probably next in line.

I'm unsure who to bench out of Nani, Malouda, VDV, N'Zogbia, Walcott or Carroll.

I'm leaning towards Walcott, but wary of the Arsenal result at Everton last season.. thoughts?

    Cheers.

    Krul (Mignolet)
Cole / Simpson / Coleman (Elmohammady, Crainey)
    Nani / VDV / Malouda / N'Zogbia (Walcott)

The team news section of this web site tips Elmo for a return on Sunday, away to Chelsea.
I'm not convinced Brucey would play him. Even if he did, you would get log odds on a Sunderland clean sheet.
Any opinions on the Elmo dilemma?
