The last 16 of the Fantasy Football Scout Cup III, sponsored by Paddy Power, or the sixth round proper if you like, has given us our quarter-finalists who are now just one win away from playing for the big prizes. Here is how the round played out…

1 – Back to Back Ballacks 44 – 45 gooner dave

The first tie of the round saw gooner dave come out on top in our closest tie of the round, with just a single point in it.

2 – DRP 60 – 55 Animons

The highest-scoring tie of the round was DRP‘s win against Animons. DRP’s score of 60 was the joint-top score for the week, but he misses out on the prize of a free £25 bet on the tie-breaker. Animons has the unfortunate title of the highest-scoring loser this round.

3 – Manif 39 – 41 tippman

Huge underdog Manif finally lived up to his billing and was beat in the lowest-scoring tie of the round, albeit by only two points. With the lowest score good enough for a win, tippman marches onto the quarter-finals.

4 – Roger 41 – 45 DaFoe22

From top-scorer one week to an unceremonious exit the next, Roger couldn’t build on his momentum and it was DaFoe22 inflicting that defeat.

5 – Ann_der_roo 40 – 59 User

The only other prize-winner in the competition was Ann_der_roo, but he also kicked the bucket this week. And he did so in spectacular fashion, being on the wrong side of the round’s biggest beating, a thumping 19 point victory for User.

6 – sandgrounder 54 – 46 Anorak

Arguably the biggest name in the last 16, Anorak had his cup dreams dashed, after comfortably being defeated at the hands of sandgrounder.

7 – BigRig 43 – 51 The Von

Without doubt, the unluckiest manager this week is BigRig, who may well think he has a quarter-final berth, but, for a shockingly late removal of a Matthew Etherington assist last gameweek, he does not. That meant that his original opponent, Dksbananas (gracious and sportsmanlike in belated defeat), had his score from last week cut severely after captaining the Stoke City midfielder. Commiserations to BigRig. The benefactor is The Von, who rightly had his cup status retained.

8 – DollyDaisy 60 – 46 RJBroughton

Last and by no means least is the award of the free £25 bet, courtesy of Paddy Power, for this week’s top-scorer DollyDaisy, who pips DRP to the prize thanks to a slender two-point overall lead. Congratulations to DollyDaisy.

A massive well done to the eight fantasy managers making the quarter-finals, having put together six straight wins. The draw for the quarter-finals may well be made live on the podcast this week, but in any case I’ll bring you the fixtures a day or two before the gameweek 14 deadline.

    Good Evening,

    Defensive crisis at Chelsea!
I hear talk about bosingwa and ferreira.
Does Zhirkov not play defence or is he a midfield substitute? in other words, does he always play oop?

Been thinking about 4 pt hits. Last week I very nearly went Krul > Cech for 4 pts, my reasoning being that Cech was more likely to get a clean sheet than Krul, and as I definately wanted to do the transfer, I might as well do it then and make the 4 pts back and have a free transfer the next week. Sound logic.

As it happened, I came out of it 5 pts better off (9 if you count the hit) by waiting, but that's not why I'm glad I left it. The major plus point is that I'm not now lumbered with a keeper playing behind one fit centre back. Doing the transfer last week would have cost me 4 pts, but it would also have cost me the opportunity to re-evaluate the idea.

I've made a lot of hits recently, and many of those were to cover for injuries (yes I have stopped moaning now), and concequently many of them paid back straight away. However, my team seemed to be going round in circles, and I think it was that lost opportunity to better assess the options that was costing me.

      Sound Logic.

I did Tevez to Chamakh, Chamakh scored 3 points in the WHM, NEW fixtures, whilst Tevez got 8 vs wba after only missing 1 game.

So I transferred Chamakh back to Tevez in disgust. Last 2 fixtures....Chamakh scored 17, Tevez 3 (and I capt vs Birmingham)

What a waste of time and effort.

Wish I'd seen that, had the team sorted mid week and panicked at the last minute as I missed out on Adams huge haul earlier this season.

Other than genuine team news and injuries I'm playing what I think I should play from now on.

I suggest all do the same!!

Of course Carlo could always 'think outside the box' and put Drogs in as an emergency CB beside Ivanovic until Essien is back. Drogs comes back to defend corners anyway (ok, he doesn't mark anyone) and would still be on pens/frees and coming up to attack corners. Then Anelka can lead the line with Malouda, Sturridge, Kalou etc.

Just my crazy thought for the evening. 😉

It's not staggering at all. This is a classic case of projecting your own views onto the team you support. If indeed he was garbage in the CC, it's a no brainer that Carlo would go with a proven international defender albeit playing slightly oop. If bruma had played and put in another howler, you'd be calling for Ferreira to play!

And I have no real opinion on Bruma anyway... All I know is that he's been capped by Holland, is actually a centre back, and was one of the reasons why we were happy to get rid of him.

Don't know where the notion that I think Bruma is amazing comes from... Was it because of that 'Bruma > anyone' post?

He was only capped because we rested CB 1-4 for that particular friendly game and some others were injured. He's playing in a friendly for the youth team tomorrow. He's supposed to be very good and out future CB for many years to come though.

i thought if it was a season long loan they couldnt be recalled?

            may be wrong tho

if the fixtures were better id def be bringin bruma in, bosingwa might be enough for now tho

I'm not entirely sure, but the fact that it hasn't been mentioned by anyone from Chelsea indicates that there is no option to get him back...

I think that if there is a fee involved in a loan deal, then the player can't be recalled.

I bet Terry plays through the pain until Essien and Lampard returns to bolster the side, he is no bottler and you need him now Alex is broken.

                Inject him up.

its a mess alright, Hearts in Edinburgh are something like £35 million in debt as well, the only thing that keeps them in business is the equity of the land that their stadium is on and that only amounts to about 60% of the debt at a push.

worrying thing is itll take a big team to go bust before something is done.

chester were 25k short of being saved i think, considering all the utd city and liverpool players that live in chester and were probbly aware of their situation youd have thought one might donate a days wages to save a football club

Fingers crossed, hope they survive, this is the sort of situation that you have sympathy with unlike the situations at Portsmouth and Liverpool where those were brought on by themselves.
