Steven Gerrard will undergo a scan today to assess the extent of a hamstring injury sustained in England’s 2-1 friendly defeat to France last night at Wembley. Gerrard left the field after 84 minutes with the problem, breaking an agreement between Liverpool and England stating that the midfielder would only play for an hour.

The prognosis is not yet known, although the Daily Telegraph’s Henry Winter has reported through his Twitter account, that Gerrard could be out of action for 4-5 weeks…

The Reds were left fuming after Fabio Capello decided to break their promise by keeping the player on the field. Liverpool’s head of fitness and conditioning Darren Burgess vented his anger on Twitter, although the rant was removed shortly afterwards…

“Unbelievable from all associated with England and English FA with regard to Steven Gerrard’s injury. Completely ignored agreement and past history.”

The Liverpool captain’s possible spell on the sidelines will come as a massive blow for Roy Hodgson’s men and a large proportion of Fantasy Premier League (FPL) Managers, with the player currently boasting 12.9% ownership. Although one of the most expensive players in the FPL game at £11.4 and by no means enjoying his greatest season, Gerrard has managed to notch-up a steady 57 points this so far this term and could leave Fantasy Football Managers with a dilemma.

With the probable absence of Gerrard and Lucas Leiva’s suspension, Liverpool are facing a crisis in midfield for the visit of West Ham on Saturday. This surely means that, along with Raul Meireles, Christian Poulsen will start the game and the likes of Jonjo Shelvey and Jay Spearing could hope for some minutes. With Gerrard being the regular spot-kick taker Fernando Torres, who is also a doubt, will be the likely replacement.

Saturday’s home fixture against West Ham is a must win game for Liverpool, but with doubts hanging over several key first-team regulars (Torres, Joe Cole, Dirk Kuyt and Martin Skrtel) and of course the Gerrard injury, it is already looking a potentially uncomfortable encounter for Roy Hodgson’s side.

johnfinlay John swears he'll deliver unbiased Fantasy Premier League tips and news...until Leeds get promoted.

Does anyone know if Jara was part of the Chile squad that played Uruguay in the early hours of this morning? Because if he is then he'll have travelled across half the world and will only be back in training tomorrow....

With Elmo almost certain to be on the bench, it would be a bit of a blow if Jara didn't start either. I may just bench him anyway though, Coleman isn't a terrible option for this weekend, or any weekend for that matter.

i cant decide with Malouda. I really cant. i dont have VdV...so that's the obvious switch. But seems counter-productive to get rid of Malouda now (having missed VdV's home points already).

      Arteta to Nani seems sensible...

I've reluctantly done Arteta>Nani already. Really want to lose Malouda, but he's still more likely to get points than Arteta now, even in Chelsea's form.

For the first time ever, I knee-jerked last week and I've made an eight point hit, got in Toure, Odemwingie and Nani. Could work but was really no need for the Toure transfer, already have Kolarov and could have easily just benched Elmo for this week. Hate taking 8 points hits aswel, it's like against my small law..

    Jussi
    Kolarov Toure Konchesky
    Fabs Nani Arteta VDV
    Drogba Carroll Odemwingie

    Foster, Coleman, N'Zogbia, Jara.

Nice team! We have only 3 players different in our entire squads!!

I think we've had similar teams all the way through, I think we have about 2000 places between us in ranks aswel, haha!

You bit the bullet and went with Coleman in the end I see? I know how much you disliked that bandwagon! I'll warn you about Konchesky, possibly the most frustrating player ever! 3 cleanies so far, been on my bench for 2 of them! :/

a/ Arteta, Berb, A Cole - Nani, Rooney, Konchesky (or other) 4 point
b/ A Cole, Brunt, Drogba, Nani, Rooney, Cahill 4 point
    c/ A Cole, Arteta - Nani, Cahill

C best one as it doesn't imply a hit, but not sure about losing Cashley. How long have you had him in your team (i.e. how much has his price gone up?) Could you do any other transfers to get Nani for Arteta?

I havent had Cashley that long and I've got Bos already so covered on Chelsea. only players I could take out to get Nani would be Drogba, Fab or Berbatov. How's your team looking for this week?

Mahone Ive a similar transfer dilemma... have 2 freebies and planning to get Nani in too. Cahill is my ideal choice for centre back, due to his nice run of fixtures and his goal scoring potential from set pieces. But then its between Arteta and Bale out to get Nani in... Im gonna wait til 11:30 Saturday to decide more than likley 🙂

Would be nice if it came off, skint at the moment! 🙁

Really think it stands a good chance though. Chelsea will win IMO and everyone will go on about their spirit, blah blah. Bolton have been winning too much recently, surely can't win another, Newcastle are decent away from home but can't see them winning so draw. Doubt Stoke will beat us to make it 3 wins in a row but we won't win, their our bogey team.

Blackpool need to lose a game, their 'honeymoon' period has gone on for too long. Wolves, although I hate to admit it are playing well and can see them winning this one.

Feel Cardiff is quite dodgy, not sure why, but we'll see..

    B. Arteta to Nani (no hit)

Black OPs is good, Multiplayer is not as good as MW2 for me though, but maybe it will grow on me. Some of the maps are just annoying, but there is more variety in some of the other maps in comparison to MW2.

So would I be mental in getting rid of Bosingwa then? I sort of have to in a way as Gilks is crocked and I want the Shrekkish one.

I doubt it. The maps aren't sniper friendly and sniping isn't as easy as on MW2.

are you going for Roondog this weekend?

I don't think you would be mad to ship Bosingwa no, I just wouldn't trust that defence to keep people out at the moment, a good team does not turn pants over night, but, with their 2 best CB's out, you would have to say that they will face similar problems to the ones United faced last season with Rio and Nemanja Brickface out.

Oh think of a noun, add shite in front and bobs your shiteuncle. Facing up to a 8 point hit, drastic yes but with Gilks crocked I need to swap him that necessitates Bosingwa going too. Might as well throw Rooney in whilst I'm at it, could be a gamble that actually pays off for a change. I'll leave the moves until tomorrow afternoon though - just unsure of Rooney's chances of starting.

I prefer Multiplayer to MW2 tbh. Just think their is more structure to it, no heartbeat sensors, not many rifle grenades etc. Most of the maps are good, haven't really got a bad word to say about any of them other than Havana and Nuketown which just pisses me off..

Nuketown is just retarded, the spawning anywhere and everywhere means you could get killed within a milli-second of spawning. More annoying is how many "shitehawks" keep picking the bloody level, I don't agree with this vote the next level thing

I am probably one of the annoying "shitehawks" I love the map, I am not one to promote camping but I just find a spot/building, use the Galil which has a lot of range, and away I go, It is annoying though. 90-23 I got on Nuketown, also I got 71-5, You have to love the Attack Dogs. 🙂

He's lost half a stone in America apparently. Phelan should let us know if he'll play although i bet he says 'he'll be involved'. With Drogba full of malaria, i'm willing to take the gamble and 8 point hit it up (i think).

Greg, that is most disappointing, you are the type of COD player I hate, "I am not one to promote camping" but you do, you rat! Hate those guys, probably because my patience gets the better of me when I am killed like 5 times by the same guy and I keep charging for him but he has a little nook that he can just about see me coming from and shoot me everytime!

Once you get on a streak Nuketown is amazing, Chopper Gunner and you'll kill it but most the time it is just annoying.

Anyone else finding Black Ops harder than the other Call of Duty's online? On the others my KD was about 1.4, not amazing but decent, at the moment I'm under a ratio of 1, despite 12hr's playing time! :/

Black Ops is pretty good online. Not as good as MW2 imo, but not getting noob tubed every 2 seconds (in fact I've only been noobtubed once in about 25 hours play time) is great.

The matchmaking is pretty terrible but I'm told that's been patched.

      Wager matches are pretty fun!

I prefer the maps on MW2.

Re Brunt - what does the password protected WBA website say exactly. I've yet to see any evidence of an injury at the mo, except for a WBA forum message saying he's out. His injury leaves me a little short if true and at the mo its a big if.

Couple of match reports I have seen suggested he (Brunt) and Hughes of Fulham were both taken off at half time but only as part of a pre-arranged agreement NI had with their clubs, with the match only being a friendly.

I heard that as well, Brunt was substituted because of the arrangement not injury. If he is injured it was something that happened after the match or undetected. Unless I see something official I'm reserving judgement. Perhaps someone has put 2 and 2 together and come up with 5.

        Attila, welcome back!

It's a strange one, although Coleman doesn't really fit Trap's style of play. However with a talent like that you'd want him to be playing, also it could have been to send a message to say you're not going to walk into the side, there's competition here as well.

    Quick poll...

    a) Arteta & Alex -> Nani & Cahill (8 point hit)
    b) Malouda -> Nani (4 point hit)

any reasoning would help also! Thanks

If Cahill & Malouda outscore Arteta & Foley (defender that would come in) by 4 points then it's a fair play right?
