Hats and scarves on folks, we’ve one last roll of the dice in gameweek fourteen as Sunderland play host to Everton this evening.

This morning’s paper reports proved to be correct as Asamoah Gyan sits out with leg injury allowing Darren Bent to return to the team. Anton Ferdinand comes in for Sunderland’s rock – no joke – Titus Bramble, presumably having picked up a knock too. Everton are unchanged. Full teams follow…

Sunderland XI: Gordon; Onuoha, Turner, Ferdinand, Bardsley; Richardson, Henderson, Cattermole, Zenden; Bent, Welbeck

Everton XI: Howard; Neville, Jagielka, Distin, Baines; Coleman, Arteta, Heitinga, Pienaar; Cahill; Saha

The Dugout Discussion is open awaiting all of your yelps if your heart so desires.

Does anyone else think that when the ball goes out of play and a player incorrectly puts up his hand to indicate the ball belongs to them, it's another form of cheating.

It annoys me that players constantly try and deceive the refs (including this way), and then they and the managers go mental after games when decisions have incorrectly gone against them. Not that I expect any of them to see the irony...

Can people please stop saying ''It's not worth a hit for a defender'' if the other transfer that someone has done was for a midfielder or a striker.

I say this because if the transfers had been done the other way round, and the defender switch had been made already, then you would all be saying ''go ahead'' with the second transfer, namely the midfielder/striker switch, (assuming that it is a decent transfer).

The two transfers are analogous and you can switch the order of them and it gives the same result.

It's not helped by people asking for advice and not declaring their original transfer in their initial post, as the person giving advice needs to know this first.

Yeah its a word. But in this context I think you meant interchangeable. One transfer can't really be an analogy of another, which is what analogous means.

True that. Although there are cases where hits for defenders aren't worth it, I personally never look at multiple transfers, when a hit is involved, on a per gameweek basis. A fair reflection on whether the tranfers payed off would be to look at points earned during a couple of weeks at least.

I'd agree. For example I got in Kolarov for a 4 pointer this week and he only got me 2, but if he scores well over the next few weeks it will probably have been worth it.

Transfer hits should be dependent ones.

      Wrong.
You may have made 100 transfers, but if you eventually have a bad forward, then it still makes sense to switch him for someone better as a 101st transfer. But it doesn't mean your 100 transfers were sensible.

Not worth a hit for a defender is a load of rubbish. It is about return on investment. Points hits are sometimes necessary to improve your team. If you are afraid to take a points hit you will struggle to succeed in this game.

Exactly, my fault this week for not spending 4 on MGP. I was ready to confirm but just thought I'd hang on to the 4 points. MASSIVE FAIL. Next gameweek I'm spending 4.

I disagree with the point you're trying to make. I think its wrong to do a defensive switch as part of a 4-point hit, unless you are very consciously playing a long term game.

Unless the defender switch has facilitated the attacking switch, value wise, you're still taking a points hit for a defender. Given how uncertain clean sheets are, you could have not done the transfer, and chances are you score would have been higher, depending on what switch you are making.

If you could do it the next week for free, it is almost always better.
