Once more Arsenal’s best Stallion has pulled up lame as Cesc Fabregas was withdrawn from play in the second half of Arsenal’s two-nothing away loss at Braga in the Champions League with another hamstring injury. Wenger is quoted as saying (see: 21:50)…

“It’s a hamstring injury on the other leg, and it’s hard to say how long he’ll be out for. He’ll definitely miss the weekend game.”

Given that – as I highlighted earlier in my Frisking the Fixtures piece – Arsenal head into one of their leaner spells when it comes to match-ups this season, a £12m Fantasy Premier League (FPL) investment who is definitely out for the weekend, and maybe longer, with a strong susceptibility to injury is not going to be many people’s flavour of the month. Expect to see Fantasy Managers transferring out en masse…

Samir Nasri will once again peek up onto the radar screens of those wanting to stick in the Arsenal ballpark as will anyone not yet on the wagon hitched to Dutchman Rafael Van Der Vaart, another player who’s had his injury issues this season. Carlos Tevez looks likely to be another key recipient of favour following this news as players look to switch up their allocation of funds from midfield to attack.

One thing is clear, this is happening more and more often with Fabregas now and with him being the third most expensive player in the game – and as Granville points out his “ideal” replacements are also on the sidelines – the transfer world will be aflutter with Fantasy Manager’s sitting on huge stockpiles of funds.

…Emmanuel Eboue also picked up an injury.

I'm now actually thinking of just keeping Fabs and riding it out. My midfield "sub" is Yaya T, who has stk BOL whm next 3 GWs on the back of scoring at the weekend. Thoughts?

Okay enough moaning we need a plan.

Fabregas is out, so he needs to be replaced. Chances are you'll gain in the long run, because Fabs WILL drop in price, and assuming you bought him at 11.8 or 11.9, you'll be able to get him back at no value lost.

Votes (assuming you already have a midfield of Nani, VdV, Fabs)

More pricy players preferable, assuming that you'll want Fabs back so won't be tempted to move too much money to defense or attack.

    Cahill
    Bale
    Malouda
Kuyt* (My little differential. He has the fixtures...)
    Silva
    Nasri

Cheaper options (Gamst Pedersen, Lee, N'Zogbia)

        No way.

Kuyt is a much better choice than Cole.

Joe Cole is the most overrated fantasy football player in the game.

I think he is terrible player. But like I explained previously, all he has to do is roll ball forward and Torres will score. Nice few assists. Plus with Mr Gerrard out he will have license to roam with Poulsen and Mereiles covering the defensive side.

Yes Yes we need a plan ok calm down breathe. I think Nasri but thats only to keep some Arsenal coverage which may not be a good Idea. Cahill also sounds good for the rest of November at least. I dont like Maloudas form and not getting Bale as I have VdV.
Silva is not exactly setting the world on fire. MGP is just a purple patch i think but maybe cheap performers is the way to go

Hi Camzy, wanted to get Nasri in anyway, but Fabs injury is forcing my hand. Already transferred Odem to Elmander to give:

      Gordon/Krul
      Cole, Vidic, Bosingwa, Coleman, Simpson
      Fabs, Nani, VdV, N'Zog, Adam
      Drogs, Carroll, Elmander

Now thinking a further 8 point hit:

      Fabs to Nasri
      Carroll to Tevez

      Worth it?

        Very impressive team.

Don't take an 8 point hit.

A 4 pointer maximum to replace an injured player.

Fabs to Nasri if that's the move you wanted to make all along.

There are so many potential transfers that will improve your team.

I've got about 6 that I think would make my team better.

But meanwhile, you have to be patient. Prioritize. Work out which transfers are most likely to make you score better.

Thanks Camzy. I have taken too many hits this year, and it is no coincidence that I am having a bad season. However, I must admit that on this occasion, I can see the merit in the 8 point hit. I guess my question to you is whether it is bad to get rid of Carroll for Tevex, given their up and coming fixtures, team form etc.

Next week it will be Bosingwa to Kolorov and Adam to Gamst Pederson.

You almost always "see the merit" in a hit when you're making it. You want to improve your team, and you want to improve it fast, that's understandable.

Hell, I'd love to make 6 transfers right now, but you've got to have restraint. Sometimes, the player you were going to throw out come good unexpectedly. Prioritize.

    Wenger from Arsenal.com:

Eboue will be out for a while and we will have to asses Fabregas tomorrow. It could be two to three weeks. It is very disapointing because I had a hesitation to play him before the match started. I took the gamble and it back-fired on us.

Spurs being the clean sheet certainties that we know they are. I need someone for a month or so and Liverpool have good fixtures. Kuyt is on penalties, can provide assists and scores. Had him at times last season and he was fine. Also a nice differential in my league.

True but Wigan and Wolves were pretty awful when they both scored at White Hart Lane. Other options for me are Nasri (good choice), Cahill (feels like chasing points), Bale (don't want two Spurs players), Malouda (not while Chelsea are in this form and he's no use against good teams or away) or Silva (that would be 3 Man City which I don't want).

I used to hate people doing this, but I've been so busy with work for the past 6 weeks that my FPL team has been neglected and I've seen six consecutive red arrows in my overall standing, not to mention getting knocked off the top of my mini-leagues.

So, any advice on what I can do with this mess?

    Fabregas, Nani, Dempsey. N'Zogbia, Etherington

Another thing Blackburn do well is rekindling the confidence of teams/players who are out of form/luck!

                    +1

Ain't that the f'in truth! If you want to break a losing run or barren spell, we are the team you want coming into town!

We are in decent form and should be able to pick a competitive XI so there are reasons to be confident but i still can't see anything other than a United win and goals for Rooney
