Once more Arsenal’s best Stallion has pulled up lame as Cesc Fabregas was withdrawn from play in the second half of Arsenal’s two-nothing away loss at Braga in the Champions League with another hamstring injury. Wenger is quoted as saying (see: 21:50)…

“It’s a hamstring injury on the other leg, and it’s hard to say how long he’ll be out for. He’ll definitely miss the weekend game.”

Given that – as I highlighted earlier in my Frisking the Fixtures piece – Arsenal head into one of their leaner spells when it comes to match-ups this season, a £12m Fantasy Premier League (FPL) investment who is definitely out for the weekend, and maybe longer, with a strong susceptibility to injury is not going to be many people’s flavour of the month. Expect to see Fantasy Managers transferring out en masse…

Samir Nasri will once again peek up onto the radar screens of those wanting to stick in the Arsenal ballpark as will anyone not yet on the wagon hitched to Dutchman Rafael Van Der Vaart, another player who’s had his injury issues this season. Carlos Tevez looks likely to be another key recipient of favour following this news as players look to switch up their allocation of funds from midfield to attack.

One thing is clear, this is happening more and more often with Fabregas now and with him being the third most expensive player in the game – and as Granville points out his “ideal” replacements are also on the sidelines – the transfer world will be aflutter with Fantasy Manager’s sitting on huge stockpiles of funds.

…Emmanuel Eboue also picked up an injury.

    Salcido or Hangeland?

They rotate quite well with Samba for a few weeks at least.

Been busy today and missed all this.

Just logged on before I go to sleep and I read this about Fabs!!

Well, it solves my dilemma of who to drop now. I got Van der Vaart in on Sunday night to beat his price rises and I still have Bale so it looks like I'm playing those two now.

With hindsight I could have laid off the transfers until my usual time (Friday night), kept Arteta and just done Fabs to VdV and Piquionne to K Davies, but I only had enough to do those moves if I did it on Sat night so I gambled.

As long as Spurs players don't get injured (or better still 'Arry rests them) I can put out Nani, Bale, VdV and N'Zog in my MF and have Tevez, Carroll and Davies up front.

That lot should see me right this weekend, no?

I have both Fabregas and Albrighton, with a couple of points in the bank. I have already used my free transfer for K Davies.

Should I do Albrighton to Nzog and keep Cesc? Or do a Nzog/VDV double transfer?

Wenger 'rests' rvp (a man in dire need of time on the pitch) and plays fabregas (someone who arguably needs a rest as hes shown signs of weakness in his hamstring in recent games) and fabregas gets injured. Good one wenger, good one.

RVP is very gently being eased back into action. It'll be some time before he completes a full game.

Fabregas hasn't actually played that many games. His 'other' hamstring was injured today.

      Still. I understand your frustration.

ARGH! I just made all my transfers last week to GET Fab in... AND NOW HE'S INJURED AGAIN?!

Should have gone with Nasri... was so close...

Anyway, need a replacement. Was thinking of a decent Midfield one and then doing A forward change, maybe Doyle > Teves.

    Foster (Robinson)
    Ridge, Baines, Cashley (Hutton, Elmo)
    Nani, VDV, Fabs, Nolan (Park)
    Berba, Elmander, Doyle

Fabs > MGP maybe? Or Cahill?

I think I've seen this movie again a couple of weeks ago... When I (along with many people) had Nani and VDV and Tevez and they got injured and we freaked out... If I had Fabs I would hold off a week and bench him like I did with Nani and VDV (good choices) and didn't with Tevez where I took a 4 point hit, spend 2 transfers and actually missed the 8 point haul when he played...

    Just saying

all depends on what you have onn the bench. I play a monthly mini league (cash) and going defensive in the final GW of the month would not be the best idea. To be honest at the moment I am totally stumped, gonna take a day or two to reflect first.

    Foster, Frul
    A.Cole, Vidic, Knight, Bardsley, Simpson
    Arteta, Nani, VDV, Adam, Fabs
    Drogba, Carroll, Harewood

    Looking at
    Fabs -> Lee
    Harewood -> Tevez

Bench Adam and play Lee for this week.
Assess next week to see how Cole and Vidic go. Then weed them back out to upgrade midfield when i need to.

Thinking similar if you look at my rabble. Thinking of Fabs to Jarvis and Carroll to Tevez (purely cos not having him is killing me against my rivals)

Alternatively its Fabs to Cahill, save a hit and reassess next week - what do you think?

I have Arteta so I don't want two of them.
But not a bad choice if you can hold off on Tevez, although he is involved in just about everytime they score

ManC have some very appealing fixtures coming up as do Bolton.
I want Elmander for piece of mind at the moment but I can't drop my mate Drogba and I won't let go of Carroll.
        Why can't I have 4 strikers 🙁

Feelings mutual, think I will stick with Drogs, Davies and Carroll. Have no everton coverage so a switch to Cahill with no hit seems sensible. That said I am knocking on the head this save 0.1 here and there by doing early transfers. Far too many tales of woe on here. Will wait until nearer the weekend. Weather could be a problem yet this weekend as well!! Ah the joys.....

Please don’t laugh at me for not having VDV yet haha

Can we agree this is the best move?
    Cheers

Thanks, definitely going to wait for news.
VDV is doubtful for tonight's game so who knows what will happen this weekend.
Also Fabregas may be ruled fit for all we know (Nani/Malouda/VDV news was crazy from the midweek games awhile back...out one minute, fit the next!)

Tossing up between nasri and kuyt to replace fabs I think. Any suggestions?

Neither... wait to see the damage assessment. You have 5 good midfielders and a very strong team. You'll do well despite having Fabs on the bench for a weekend, even two imo.

    Robinson/Al-habsi

    Cole, Konchesky, Coleman, Dann, Simpson

    Fabregas, Malouda, Nani, VDV, Brunt

    Drogba, Elmander, Carroll

hoping to get some input about possible moves to make as i look to replace fabregas....

Fabs/Simpson out, Arteta or Nasri/Vidic in

Fabs/Coleman or Dann out, Cahill/Vidic in

    Fabs/Simpson out, Cahill/Kolarov in

not going to do anything till next week, if by then if fabs appears to be back the following week, i will probably hold tight. But it seems inevitable that he will need to be replaced down the line again. What say you?

Why not Nasri/Kolarov in. Will give you Arsenal and Man C cover

i know it sounds ridiculous, but that would leave me with 2.5 million in the bank, which only tempts me to make more changes to maximize my budget. The more money i have laying around, the more I want to tinker with the team. That being said, its not a bad idea.

Pure speculation but I would assume he gets the start, whether he's on the pitch the entire match is anyone's guess.

which is the priority at the moment :

    a. elmo out - kolarov in
    OR
    b. walcott out - nasri in

      certainly a.

if youve held on to walcott, may as well take advantage of fabs injury and assume he plays with regularity, mummy on the other hand is coming off consecutive healthy benchings, with the ultimate fantasy nightmare of being subbed on late. His price is dropping steadily, cash out now and odds are you can get him back at the same price if you feel he deserves another shot on your team. Last week i dropped elmo for konchesky and couldnt be happier.

Worth doubling up on Spurs and get VDV this week for Fabs ? am also considering Cahill...my team is linked also considering nani

    can put out
    Jaas
    Vidic Coleman Kolarov (Konch)(Samba)
    Bale Nani Jarvis Ferguson (FABS)
    GYAN Drog Carrol

obviously have to wait and see with Gyan , if he is fit might just keep transfer...opinions?
