Seamus Coleman has been a highly sought-after choice for Fantasy Managers so far this season, with a telling current ownership of 8.4% in the Fantasy Premier League (FPL) game. Everton’s shortage of natural right-sided midfielders has meant that the Irishman, who generally favours the right-back position, has had to slot into a new role on the flank. The “Out of Position” (OoP) defender has done a notable job, picking up an respectable 43 points in the FPL game so far this season, and priced at just £4.9 million it’s easy to see why the 22 year-old has become such a desirable choice.

In his last six games Coleman has only completed 90 minutes twice and was even benched for the game against Bolton on November 10. It seems that the bright start he made at the beginning of the season has teetered off in recent weeks and David Moyes could now be looking for another solution. The return to fitness of Jack Rodwell and Victor Anichebe has bolstered Moyes’ options and the threat to Coleman’s starting role is now building, giving his opportunist Fantasy owners a cause for concern…

After shaking off his ankle injury, Jack Rodwell is perhaps the biggest threat to Coleman’s starting role. The England U21 international has come off the bench in the Toffee’s last two games and even directly replaced Coleman during the 2-2 draw at Sunderland on Monday.

Victor Anichebe, although primarily a striker, is another option for the troubled right midfield position; he has comfortably filled this role in the past. Having been ruled out all season so far with a knee problem, Anichebe impressed by scoring on his return for the reserves and is vying for a first team recall. A bench role against West Brom at Goodison this weekend looks likely, with Rodwell pushing to start ahead of Coleman in that potentially profitable home fixture.

With this uncertainty of regular match time looming over Coleman and Sunderland’s Elmohamady already diminished as a cheap “out of position” option, FPL Managers will be looking for similarly priced defensive replacements to fill the void.

Phil Bardsley (£4.3 million) of Sunderland could be a promising option with the Black Cats currently on a good run of form and an ownership of just 1.1%. Blackburn’s Phil Jones (£4.5 million), ever-present this season, presents a less attacking “out of position” prospect; he faces a kind run of opponents after the weekend trip to Old Trafford. Birmingham’s Scott Dann (£4.8 million) who is has picked up 52 points, has proved a popular choice, although Birmingham’s fixtures remain tough in the weeks to come. Having said that, Dann and his team-mates have defied the odds to pick up consecutive clean sheets against City and Chelsea over the previous two Gameweeks.

There are options then and it’s perhaps too early to knee jerk and oust Coleman just yet, but Moyes’ teamsheet come Saturday’s clash with the Baggies will certainly be a concern for Coleman’s many Fantasy owners.

Hussey catch! I hope FPL towers cant take those 10 points off me, for a deflection off strauss bat diveret the ball to much for an assist for Hussey.

Hey Jamisiep. Forget about all that silly cricket stuff for a moment. With the VDV injury doubt (I'm doing Fabs out), I'm seriously cosidering doubling up on Arteta & Cahill for this week only. I know you tried that a while back and it didn't work.
This week (4 pts) ACole OUT Vidic IN (already done) and Fabs OUT Cahill IN
Next week (4 pts) Arteta OUT MGP/Jarvis/Lee IN and Piquionne OUT Torres IN
I've only taken 3 x 4 pts hits so far this year, so worth it?

    MMW/ Alan Cantona or Eric Partridge/ K.E./ Camzy/Others...thoughts please on that plan? I've dropped 40k in 3 weeks because I don't have VDV...and he's doubtfull.

PS I mean seriously..."Silly mid off" and "Full Toss"?
Even I still find those funny and I'm 37!

Recommend waiting on more injury news. There are no anticipated major price riser/fallers tonight.

Try and hold out until Friday if possible unless you are keen to pull the trigger. Would recommend VDV as good long term investment if fit.

With RvP back, Nasri's not going to have penalties to fall back on. Of course it depends on how long the Dutchman takes to get starts. Soon you'd think.

Nasri is in possession and any normal coach would see that, but I guess this is Wenger and 7 years on he is still building his side around RVP who has yet to play 30 games in a season.

I'd have wagered Fabregas would have taken the next Arsenal penalty, if RvP had not been on the pitch at the time.

Nasri took them when Fabregas and RvP were out, that's all. He's third choice.

I reckon Wenger will be tempted to kneejerk RVP from start after this weeks disappointments. If so yes agree RVP will be the set piece king

RVP isn't taking any penalties...He's barely an Arsenal player. I'd see Chamakh taking a penalty before he does, and probably still starting above him. If RVP can start consistently, and get back to some kind of form, then and only then, is there a possibility of him taking a penalty imo

Ok! Maybe "barely an Arsenal player" was a bit hyperbolic, but Nasri seems set on penalties, with perhaps Arshavin a close second.

Time well tell Jas but RVP was the penalty taker before injury. I can't see that changing if he is playing.

RVP will always be Arsenal's first choice penalty taker for the simple reason he's their best penalty taker.

The CL fantasy game is very much a sideline, but it really sucks that I took a 2-point hit to bring in Bale for Pirlo and then Bale misses a penalty.

Spurs are the worst team around for converting penalties, apart from Van der Vaart.

So theres a threat of snow in Newcastle? Theres nothing I can really do about it is there? I mean I got 30 million worth of starting players in that match. I guess I can look to make up for it in a double GW but Im in that last man standing league and something like this could bury me.
