Three wins in their last four league games means Blackburn Rovers once-stuttering season is now firmly back on track, with Morten Gamst Pedersen, in particular, being pivotal to their recent resurgence. The Norwegian has scored four in four for Sam Allardyce’s men, including a brace against Aston Villa on Sunday, and all of this after getting punched in the heart by Joey Barton.

Pedersen’s recent outstanding form has allowed him to sneak up the Fantasy Premier League (FPL) standings somewhat un-noticed. Priced at £5.7m, he costs the same as Charlie Adam and has, like the Blackpool playmaker, also scored 65 FPL points, yet Adam has been selected by a whopping 18.1% of Fantasy Managers in comparison to Pedersen’s meagre ownership of 1.7%. The Norwegian’s credentials as a real “differential” is shown by the fact that his FPL points total also tops the far more popular (and equally-priced) Fantasy selections such as Matthew Etherington, Charles N’Zogbia and Chris Brunt.

Outwith a difficult trip to Old Trafford this upcoming weekend, fixtures are certainly on Blackburn’s side right now; from Gameweek 16 their next five games (WOL, bol, WHM, STK, wba) are all definitely winnable. A good run of form before the New Year would push Rovers up from mid-table mediocrity and perhaps persuade the club’s new Indian owners to splash the cash in the January transfer window, which would surely be the perfect Christmas present for Big Sam.

Pedersen is bound to be a vital participant in this potentially significant run and is in irresistible form, picking up 9 FPL bonus points in his last 4 games. The player himself has identified the spurt in form to a change of position that has seen him come in from the left-flank to a more central role.

“I’m playing in a different position now, more central rather than out wide as I played five years ago…It’s going well for me and that’s five goals in five games if you include the international match last Wednesday. It’s hard to say what has happened, but I worked hard to turn things round. Now I’m really looking forward to that next game at United”

Pedersen goes to United having scored a brace in a Rovers victory back in 2005. While a repeat performance may be too much to ask, Pedersen is undboutedly on a high and continued returns after the United game look a strong possibility.

“.”

if i had davies and elmander, and had to pick a captain, id captain davies.

as it is i have only davies, so its between him and nani for the captaincy

If you had Elmander and Nani, who would you choose? I have had it on Nani all week because he is not top of the (C) poll. I actually think it is a jinx now.

Blackburn could park the bus and nani did nothing the last game. or blackburn could play football (sort of) and nani will do well.

Then you have elmander , whos centre forward against blackpool, and even though i love them, theyre still blackpool Hes bound to get something.

Ill prob do davies, so that logic means i reckon youre better off with elmander

"Footballers are just big kids at heart. I know these lads are working hard - but they are also doing it with a smile on their face," Coyle was quoted in the Daily Mirror as saying.

"The lads do a 'scissors, paper, rock' thing and there is a punishment for the loser. So they are getting good at playing it - or else. The loser gets his ears flicked and it is painful.

"I stay out of it with the size of ears I've got! But it is great to see them having a bit of fun together. There is a great spirit in this group."

Coyle's comments explain why skipper Kevin Davies was spotted celebrating one of his goals last week with a scissors gesture.

"It's always great to have talented players at your club, but if you get the right characters to build and foster team spirit it helps you in the difficult times," Coyle said.

"There is a sense of togetherness and cameraderie between these lads. I always enjoyed that as a player. I was in some terrific dressing rooms - full of good players and good people.

"I want that among this group and it's clear they enjoy each other's company."

With hindsight, playing Jaask last week was crushing, but at the time probably a sensible move. I'm gonna have to go with Jaask again i reckon, i'd be more annoyed if i went against the better fixture this time and got stung again!

I have missed the van de vaart boat completely, but now considering him as a Fab replacement. However, with injury worries, three tough games coming up and defoe's return changing Tottenham's shape (van de vaart will be playing wider?) would this be completely the wrong time to get him in? Nasri and Kuyt are the other main options I guess.

Playing up front behind Pav last weekend for the 1st half, VDV went in at half-time with 1pt. Playing right-wing in the 2nd half with Defoe coming to partner Pav, he finished the game with 15pts. I'm not so sure the change in formation makes much of a difference with VDV... if he's fit, you need him in.

Seriously thinking about making 8 point hit this week..!!

Already made 4 point hit bringing Elmander and Cahill in for Dembele and Fabs.

    My team now is:
    Foster
    Faye (will he play?)-Dann-Vidic
    Cahill-Nani-Adam-VdV (doubtful)
    Carroll-Elmander-Drog (c)

bench: Stockdale-Mummy (benched likely), Williamson (banned), Albrigton (Appendix problem)

Thinking about Mummy to Kolarov or otherwise one of my defenders could get zero points. Normally I am not fan of taking hits but isn't that sensible considering my bad luck on injuries and bans?

    Thanks.

If I've got emergency captain set to form but two players (Elmander and Carroll) have the same form, will it go to Elmander because he has the higher value? Cheers.

The other emergency captain strategy will be used, if there's still a tie then the captain will be chosen alphabetically i.e. in yours case carrol.

Yes.But I fancy him to explode into life against Newcastle's depleted backline (also without Barton and Tiote in midfield) - unless it gets called off due to snow which is looking quite possible

    Team just now is

    Hart

    A Cole Coleman Kolarov

    Fabs(inj) VDV Nani Bale

    Elmander Drogba (c) Carroll

    bench Jaas Ferguson Elmo Simpson

Is it worth taking an 8pointer to get Cahill and Nasri in for Fabs and Ferguson or a MF and Vidic for Coleman or something?

im looking at getting cahill in for Fabs. Except next weeks game he has decent fixtures and he may still get something at chelsea with the form he's in!

Why are people transfersing Fabs out? I know he's a lot of money but it sounds like he'll only be missing 2 weeks.

I can see a lot of 4 pt hits taking him out and then more 4 pt hits to bring him back.

He's a season keeper for me, until he gets season ending injury, so I'm just leaving him on my bench until he returns. I can't play all of my front 8 anyway so one of my mids was going to have to sit it out this weekend. Until Fabs got hurt it was Bale who was my odd man out.

Just interested in why everyone is selling him.

      A few reasons...

It will be a minimum of 2 weeks.

He has a history of hamsting problems so will be eased back and won't be rushed.

Not everyone has an amazing front 8 and can afford to bench him.

He will drop in price so can be bought back cheaper.

It may cost some people 4 points but if you bring in the right player with the right fixtures you could reap the rewards.

There is a wildcard in a few weeks that some people will bring him back in that.

It's alot of money to have sat on your bench.

I agree, particularly on the 8 mids and forwards part. I have Brunt as a doubt, which means Ferguson will come in - I'm ok with that, could get me 4-6pts depending on his usual bonus.

But with Fabs out I'm looking at either Enrique coming in or no one, should other injuries arise.

Fabs has to go for me... as the post says...the wildcard will be the chance to bring him back.

Ladies and gentlemen I'd like to introduce mr Gareth Bale back to my team.

For me its down to team value, nothing else. Fabs will fall tonight and may well do again before he returns – only a couple of 0.1′s but they add up. My team is currently valued £2-3m more than my nearest mini-league rival – that’s the difference between a Man Utd / Chelsea defender and a Wolves / Newcastle defender. Worth a few 4 point hits to me.

thats bollox, you only get half that money, so that difference is dumb to even mention. Plus, youd have to sell all your players and reinvest elsewhere in players that havent relatively risen for it to make a difference. Take some advice, and a few other could do with taking it too, concentrating on team value to make decisions is f**king stupid, retarded, and downright self-deception. Youre taking from Peter to pay Paul.

Or don't listen. Up to you.

Team value is handy, but the number of people on here taking four or eight-point hits just to avoid losing £0.1m is bizarre.

I have the highest team value by 1.6m in my mini league but i'm in 5th position 40pts of the lead.

So, yes it's great but points on the board(and Capt choices!) are what count.

I'm sure it would be significantly different if he had risen a lot in value, but the fact is that he's still at his original price and hasn't dropped below 11.8, so it's not going to be a financial problem to sell him. Those who bought in at 11.8 can sell now at 11.9 - he'll probably drop to that value (at least) so they can get him back at no extra cost. Those who bought at 12 will dump him so they don't want to lose the 0.1.

The big thing for me now is that this WILL keep happening. I've got 5 players out or highly doubtful this week, plus 2 defenders with sh1t fixtures. Can't afford injury prone players this season.

hit needed for me this week i think.

not sure on doubling up on birmingham DF (foster and dann) away at fulham. but my other df's are konchesky, coleman, and jara (and vidic but he's a cert this week)

Also have an issue in MF with fabs.

Was thinking possibly fabs to cahill as a temporary measure. But not sure what to do about Defence. I guess i need to get rid of coleman sooner rather than later, is he worth keeping this week?
