Three wins in their last four league games means Blackburn Rovers once-stuttering season is now firmly back on track, with Morten Gamst Pedersen, in particular, being pivotal to their recent resurgence. The Norwegian has scored four in four for Sam Allardyce’s men, including a brace against Aston Villa on Sunday, and all of this after getting punched in the heart by Joey Barton.

Pedersen’s recent outstanding form has allowed him to sneak up the Fantasy Premier League (FPL) standings somewhat un-noticed. Priced at £5.7m, he costs the same as Charlie Adam and has, like the Blackpool playmaker, also scored 65 FPL points, yet Adam has been selected by a whopping 18.1% of Fantasy Managers in comparison to Pedersen’s meagre ownership of 1.7%. The Norwegian’s credentials as a real “differential” is shown by the fact that his FPL points total also tops the far more popular (and equally-priced) Fantasy selections such as Matthew Etherington, Charles N’Zogbia and Chris Brunt.

Outwith a difficult trip to Old Trafford this upcoming weekend, fixtures are certainly on Blackburn’s side right now; from Gameweek 16 their next five games (WOL, bol, WHM, STK, wba) are all definitely winnable. A good run of form before the New Year would push Rovers up from mid-table mediocrity and perhaps persuade the club’s new Indian owners to splash the cash in the January transfer window, which would surely be the perfect Christmas present for Big Sam.

Pedersen is bound to be a vital participant in this potentially significant run and is in irresistible form, picking up 9 FPL bonus points in his last 4 games. The player himself has identified the spurt in form to a change of position that has seen him come in from the left-flank to a more central role.

“I’m playing in a different position now, more central rather than out wide as I played five years ago…It’s going well for me and that’s five goals in five games if you include the international match last Wednesday. It’s hard to say what has happened, but I worked hard to turn things round. Now I’m really looking forward to that next game at United”

Pedersen goes to United having scored a brace in a Rovers victory back in 2005. While a repeat performance may be too much to ask, Pedersen is undboutedly on a high and continued returns after the United game look a strong possibility.

“.”

    Any Sunderland fans here?

I want to know if El-Mohammady has any chance of starting this week due to Sunderlands defensive woes?

Or is he only a Right winger? I know he wont start ahead of Wellbeck.

What are his chances of starting at RB?

He does have a chance of starting this weekend cos of the defensive woes but nobody will know for certain until the teams are out. If he does play it won't be at right back though...would be right mid.
The defensive problems might shift onouha to central defence, Bardsley back to his natural position of right back and Richardson back to his best and natural position of left back.
This would create a space in midfield due to Richardson dropping back. Whether it would be Elmo or Steed to gain from this is yet to be seen. String possability that Zenden is gonna be out for this game to...if that is the case and the above defensive reshuffle happens then Elmo is a certainty for a start.

The alternative to all of this is that Mensah plays at CB = only change to defence = Richardson staying in midfield = smaller chance for elmo.

But would Wellbeck not be playing right mid if Gyan and Bent both start? Therefore, Elmo would miss out regardless.

I've also heard Mensah will be back so it's not looking likely for the Egyptian then..

I suppose you think Wellbeck may be swapped to the left if Richardson is at LB?

Hmm.. I may transfer him out on the basis of this!

    Is there a scoutcast today?
Is it still snowing in the N.East?
Is it hot or just nice in Brisbane?

Anyone else here got the clap? - or is it just poor old Clytoral Impact.

    Are Chelsea in crisis?
Will Wolves ever keep a clean sheet this season?
Is Elmander the best thing since sliced bread?

just looking at my midfield, and ive fabs and brunt injured.

    team is looking like

    Krul

    vidic, cole, samba, coleman

    adam, nani, Hunt

    tevez, Davies, Carrol (fabs,Brunt, elmo)

Now, i was looking at is and i dont really wanna play seamus coleman, cos he could well be rested, or worse, get 1 point. So it looks like it's fabs out. BUT, with VDV out, im left with ashley young as a cheeky one (i honestly feel Villa will do arsenal this weekend) or pedersen with next week in mind aswell. Nothing else jumps out at me at all.

It's a tough match to analyse really as Wigan were playing for 9 men for a lot of the game!

N'Zog played well first half though and could have had a penalty. Probably Wigan's best attacking player but then that is the case practically every week

The current incumbents makes no sense!

Hello. I changed it the other day so it should be blank now. It was set as the first 8 of us who joined I think, but the actual case should be that the top 8 progress

Never ever panic. Even though you are 8th and in crisis. I just looked and it still makes no sense. I will try to edit it once more

Thinking of saving a transfer this week and upgrading Coleman to a ManU defender and downgrading Malouda to Nasri/Bale depending on performances

grr! Knee jerked VdV on Saturday night and now he's 50/50.

What a pain! Oh well, will just have to play him anyway as I have Fabs too, and hope Van the man plays.

Otherwise it's Konchesky coming in for him as first sub.

Typical though, I go the last 2 months without him and the very week I finally succumb he could end up being out. Took Arteta out for him too, and he has a good matchup this weekend.

Let this be a cautionary tale to you kids about the perils of early transfers to avoid price rises.

I bought him in at the start of the international break a few weeks back, nothing wrong with him. Also got Tevez. Some you win, some you don't.

    Hi all,
Is it worth a hit to do Fabs and Faye to Cahill (or Bale?) and Vidic? I also have VDV and a rubbish defence, so if VDV doesn't play I'm screwed.

no logic in this IMO. Would you say the same about an RVP return with Fabs (if he wasn't injured)... or Rooney with Nani?

Gone for a risky strategy of late and now have injury madness. All advice welcome.

    My team

    Foster (Carson)
Cashley, Johnson, Vidic (foley/ williamson (banned)
VDV (Doubt), Nani, Fabs (injured), Adam (Brunt (injured))
    Elmander, Davies (c), Carrol

Lots & lots of cash in the bank.

Injuries are my issue, happy to swap just Fabs out ..

Fabs for: Bale, nasri, cahill or pedersen .. Votes?

This is one of those GW's where it can go either way really. If the Chelsea game is off and VDV is out, it leaves me with just 10 playing. 4 of them being defenders. But if it is on and VDV is playing, I have selection troubles. Best scenario is that the Chelsea game is off but VDV plays.
