Three wins in their last four league games means Blackburn Rovers once-stuttering season is now firmly back on track, with Morten Gamst Pedersen, in particular, being pivotal to their recent resurgence. The Norwegian has scored four in four for Sam Allardyce’s men, including a brace against Aston Villa on Sunday, and all of this after getting punched in the heart by Joey Barton.

Pedersen’s recent outstanding form has allowed him to sneak up the Fantasy Premier League (FPL) standings somewhat un-noticed. Priced at £5.7m, he costs the same as Charlie Adam and has, like the Blackpool playmaker, also scored 65 FPL points, yet Adam has been selected by a whopping 18.1% of Fantasy Managers in comparison to Pedersen’s meagre ownership of 1.7%. The Norwegian’s credentials as a real “differential” is shown by the fact that his FPL points total also tops the far more popular (and equally-priced) Fantasy selections such as Matthew Etherington, Charles N’Zogbia and Chris Brunt.

Outwith a difficult trip to Old Trafford this upcoming weekend, fixtures are certainly on Blackburn’s side right now; from Gameweek 16 their next five games (WOL, bol, WHM, STK, wba) are all definitely winnable. A good run of form before the New Year would push Rovers up from mid-table mediocrity and perhaps persuade the club’s new Indian owners to splash the cash in the January transfer window, which would surely be the perfect Christmas present for Big Sam.

Pedersen is bound to be a vital participant in this potentially significant run and is in irresistible form, picking up 9 FPL bonus points in his last 4 games. The player himself has identified the spurt in form to a change of position that has seen him come in from the left-flank to a more central role.

“I’m playing in a different position now, more central rather than out wide as I played five years ago…It’s going well for me and that’s five goals in five games if you include the international match last Wednesday. It’s hard to say what has happened, but I worked hard to turn things round. Now I’m really looking forward to that next game at United”

Pedersen goes to United having scored a brace in a Rovers victory back in 2005. While a repeat performance may be too much to ask, Pedersen is undboutedly on a high and continued returns after the United game look a strong possibility.

        I think I need to get rid though. I already have N'Zogbia. If VDV doesn't play then I have no subs up top. And if the Chelsea game is called off (I think it will be) then I am 4 attacking players down. It enables me to have at least 10 men in the worst case scenario. Who would you reccomend ? I don't want Pederson particularly as he is playing Man U and I will get him next week for Arteta anyways. Perhaps Lee of Bolton?

          Greg , honestly?? Downing. the anmount of times hes putting balls in the box is simply phenomenal, gettting loads of shots in too every game, im almost gonna take a hit to get him in with nzog for a gamble, or instead of nzog for a gamble

            Downing has crossed my mind I must say, but I am not keen on Villa's fixtures. That is what is holding me back. This week's fixtures is a favourable one IMO, however Liverpool (A) not easy and after the West Brom and Wigan games, it is Spurs Chelsea Man City.

              it doesnt matter- liverpool away in the next five is the only hard one. five good solid games in an improving team with potential is enough in my opinion. youve a wildvard to get rid if you need to.

    If you could, what would you guys change about FPL? (other than your form and unlimited wildcards)!
    I would allow subs up to kick-off time and allow players to choose the deputy captain by name rather than form or value.
    Any ideas?

      vice captain, the auto benefits nobody, makes everything more random- so the losers are more likely to do shit either way

      bonus point method made transparent

      no stupid cop-out second wildcard

      Main thing for me would be picking a Vice captain as you already pointed out.

      It'd also be nice to get a little caption explaining as to why players were awarded bonus points. Will never happen though.

        bonus points should be scrapped...
        more points for scoring a goal...def-8,mid-6,forward-5..points for an assist...
        transfer hit should cost 2 points rather than 4 a bit like champs lg fantasy...

      I would add a feature where you have a DM to play and they earn like 3 points for a Clean Sheet and have added bonus if they play well or something like that. I would also get rid of the OG ruling as they are usually very unfortunate, and put -2 for giving away a penalty as usually they are stupid actions done by the player.

      I would either scrap bonus points altogether or make the way they are awarded much clearer.

      assists should be given for free kicks, being able to pick a vice captain and -1 for giving away a penalty. bonus points have to stay without a doubt - while they are subjective and often contentious, they make the game a whole lot more interesting and exciting.

    Okay, the New Castle game puts me in a real pickle. I am wondering if I should make my third transfer to get Alex out as I intend to replace him as soon as possible anyway. I currently have Coleman, VdV, Ivanovic, Simpson, and Nolan as doubts to play.

    Is the New Castle game unlikely enough to justify bringing in a defender for Alex?

    I want to get in Tevez for Chamakh. Need to get rid of one of my mids - would you remove Arshavin or Arteta. Going to bring in Pedersen for one of them and then do the Tevez transfer.
