This week’s refresh of the Watchlist – our mid-term recommendation rankings – finds Man City’s assets dominating the top spots across the positions with a favourable run of opponents ahead.

Roberto Mancini’s side have suffered three draws in their last four outings but with Bolton, Everton, Villa and Blackpool all at Eastlands in the next six, City have the potential to reward investment in their offerings at both ends of the field.

Elsewhere, key figures at Blackburn and Liverpool, our other “Highs” from this week’s “Frisking the Fixtures“, are also tipped to recover from weekend disappointments to provide mid-price value over the coming weeks…

Joe Hart and Aleksander Kolarov find their way to the top of the Goalkeeper and Defender rankings respectively, with the fixtures form (2 goals conceded in the last 5) to offer returns going into the Christmas period.

Despite their 7-1 Old Trafford drubbing, Blackburn’s Paul Robinson and Chris Samba, along with cheap “out-of-position” prospect Phil Jones, all enjoy climbs this week. Rovers have conceded just 6 goals in 7 Ewood Park encounters and home fixtures with Wolves, West Ham and Stoke over the next four clearly offer potential.

Liverpool’s big Greek Sotirios Kyrgiakos is the high new entry in the Defender rankings, displacing team mates Paul Konchesky and Glen Johnson who drop out. We will bring you more on the potential offered by the imposing Kyrgiakos in a full Watchlist article tomorrow.

United’s Rafael is the other major new entry – he also ousts team mates in the rankings, nudging above Nemanja Vidic in our top five Defenders off the back of his value at just 5.6 in the Fantasy Premier League game.

In Midfield we see climbs into the top five for both Arsenal’s Samir Nasri (with form) and Blackburn’s Morten-Gamst Pedersen (with form and fixtures). Neither can topple Nani at the top however.

There’s little movement elsewhere with the likes of Tim Cahill, Gareth Bale and Matt Jarvis all holding firm. Rafael Van der Vaart obviously drops out as a result of his recent injury.

Up front we see significant climbs for both Darren Bent and Dimitar Berbatov (unsurprisingly) but Carlos Tevez and Newcastle’s Andy Carroll hold the top two slots. The Bolton pairing of Johan Elmander and Kevin Davies fall from grace as fixtures stiffen up on over the next six, while Robin Van Persie and Jermain Defoe stay bubbling under as they look to establish themselves following injuries.

As always, the rankings are subject to change on a daily basis but I’ve added a new “Updated” flag to alert you when things change. Notable drops, climbs and new entries will be highlighted in scribbles and articles.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

The consensus will be that it is foolish.

          lack of alternatives.

I'd rather double up on Arsenal attacking players than go down the Blackburn route.

If there's 1 midfield that people have doubled up on in the past, it's been Arsenals.4 players have scored 50pts or more this season and their not fully firing so always worth a punt.

Evening gents! Transferring VDV to Nasri this week. But unsure as how to sort out my gk situation. Doing my head in. Howard to ?:

    a) Foster (Long term keeper with tough upcoming fixtures)
    b) Gordon (Good fixtures, but loss of his 2 cbs)
    c) Begovic (Good fixtures)
    d) Robinson (Good fixtures)
    e) Combo of 2 of the above and get Stockdale out as well
(Although he might become a 1st team choice once Schwarzer leaves for Asia)
    f) Take some Fukitol and wait for all matches to be snowed out

Leaning towards e. Bring in Begovic for Stockdale this week and then Robbo for Howard for gwk18.

    Advice?

SAF ever going to realise that you cant expect a performance by playing 8 fringe players. Integrating 1 or 2 players until they make it is just common sense. SAF must take responsibility for that nonsense tonite! only positive is SAF knows for certain that Evans is shiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiite.

Wrong evans and da silvas got us to the QF. then first team won it. SAF not learning from his mistakes and not giving the young players a proper chance, by integrating 1 or 2 at a time. Throwing them all in at once is hindering their progress.

He knows wot he is doing, wont argue with that but he got a reality check tonite. playing a completely different side with 6or7 aged 20 is unfair and is hindering their progress. Jst because he has won trophies does not excuse the fact he gets it wrong. His integration of younger players into the first team has been dismal in recent years

    Evening gents,

Got a few choices this week. I'm pretty sure I'm prepared to take a hit. I've got a decent 3 to play in defenece just the dilemma of what to do with the front 8 that's doing my head in. Thoughts on the following?

    I'm looking at the following:

    1) VDV > Nasri - (Play Drog, Elmander, Carroll)
    2) VDV > MGP - (Play Drog, Elmander, Carroll)
    3) VDV > Nasri & Albrighton > MGP (Play Drog & Carroll - Bench Elmander)
    4) VDV > MGP & Elmander > Tevez

I would do 3, as I am planning on doing Albrighton OUT MGP for a 4 point hit and I have Nasri, tempted to take an 8 pointer but that all depends on United game being called off

When you put it like that it does seem sensible, if you're gonna take a hit so get rid of someone who's definatly out just incase you can't field 11. Just worried Tevez is gonna tear Bolton a new hole.

1 - sceptical of MGP as he has had much time to prove himself and has just been mediocre and for the amount of time Nasri had actually played, he perhaps has the highest points/ minutes on pitch ratio

Defoe has literally just come back from injury.

Didn't actually look at the link but had heard a few rumours about spurs wanting to loan him.

To be fair the point still stands. It's not like they need the cash, can't see them selling to a rival when they could easily sell him elsewhere

To simply put it, he has gone way backwards and doesn't look like a premier league player at all at the moment. What is even more bothering me is that we let pique go thinking that evans wud be a gud replacement but now he is just plain crap.

Arsenal were still without injured captain Cesc Fabregas, who has a hamstring problem, and may struggle to recover in time for the trip to Old Trafford on December 13.

Wenger said: "It is impossible to say at the moment. It is not a big injury, but we have to wait.

"In the next three days, we will know more."

When a player has been 'red flagged' because of injury, his price is protected from falling or rising approx 10 days after the red flag has been removed, it's not an exact science and there may be a more accurate description available elsewhere!

My next three transfers will be:

    VdV, Adam, Drogba out.

Nasri, Bale, Striker (prob Rooney) in.

In which order would you do the transfers? (next two or three weeks.)

Anybody think VDV -> Aaron Lennon is worth the risk, like with like and bit of differential away from bale and presumably starting for the next while, looked good at the weekend.
