A statistic almost buried by the blanket of snow covering the country, last week’s Premier League action heralded a unique record; every Premier League side notched a goal.

For neutrals and Manchester united fans, it was something of a spectacle and while Fantasy Football Managers lamented the loss of more clean sheets, we could at least celebrate a grand haul of assists and goals.

Will Paddy predict more of the same, or will this cold snap put a freeze on the scoring?

Who Will Keep a Clean Sheet?

  • Arsenal 1.83 (FUL)
  • Chelsea 1.90 (EVE)
  • Liverpool 2.10 (AVL)
  • Man City 2.10 (BOL)
  • Blackburn 2.40 (WOL)
  • Sunderland 2.40 (WHM)
  • Tottenham 2.80 (bir)

With Manchester United at Blackpool postponed due to a frozen pitch, Arsenal and Chelsea take the top two slots this week. Neither team have looked at their best in November, however their respective opponents help justify Paddy’s prices. Both Fulham and Everton sit hovering above the drop zone, both struggling to find a goal threat, both struggling to put together the consistency that we’ve seen in previous seasons.

Liverpool and Man City sit just above even money this week. Paddy feels strongly that Hodgson and Mancini will be able to keep Villa and Bolton at bay. Villa, like Fulham and Everton, have been short one confident and fit striker this season, lending weight to Paddy’s price, however Man City face two absolutely in form strikers with Bolton. Johan Elmander and Kevin Davies have help see Bolton as high as fourth in the table so far this campaign, netting fourteen between them. The Trotters have also only failed to score in two league games all season – the City clean sheet is clearly under threat here then.

Blackburn will be anxious to get back to winning ways after last week’s trouncing at Old Trafford. Mick McCarthy’s Wolves have come too close too often and ended with nothing; it could well be that familiar story again this week but they may still have a goal in them at Ewood. Chris Samba owners could well need something at the other end then, and with the Wolves defence, that’s a strong possibility.

Anytime Goalscorer

  • Chamakh 1.66 (FUL)
  • Tevez 1.72 (BOL)
  • Van Persie 1.83 (FUL)
  • Drogba 1.83 (EVE)
  • Torres 2.00 (AVL)
  • D Bent 2.10 (WHM)
  • Bendtner 2.10 (FUL)
  • Anelka 2.20 (EVE)
  • Arshavin 2.30 (FUL)
  • Nasri 2.30 (FUL)
  • Balotelli 2.30 (BOL)
  • Gyan 2.30 (WHM)
  • Kalou 2.40 (EVE)
  • Malouda 2.40 (EVE)
  • Odemwingie 2.40 (NEW)
  • Adebayor 2.50 (BOL)
  • Mwaruwari 2.62 (WOL)
  • Kalinic 2.62 (WOL)
  • Roberts 2.62 (WOL)
  • Defoe 2.70 (bir)
  • Welbeck 2.75 (WHM)

Although Marouane Chamakh and Carlos Tevez are not top of the season scorers list, they will have a chance to catch Berbatov’s haul and find themselves with the shortest odds to net in Paddy’s eyes in his absence this week. Robin Van Persie and Didier Drogba conclude Paddy’s odds-on selections; the latter must surely end his seven game drought soon, while Van Persie will need pitch time to make an impression on Fulham. Fernando Torres is still struggling for confidence and that’s reflected in Paddy’s odds which seem long considering the Spaniard’s record at Anfield.

Darren Bent and Asamoah Gyan feature highly again but the real standout price is that of the young Man City hot-head, Mario Balotelli. Playing only a handful of games, Mario seems an expensive gamble in Fantasy terms at 8.6 in the Fantasy Premier League (FPL) game, however, he now looks set to establish himself in the second striker role in the City lineup. Balotelli promised much at Inter but has only delivered once in the Premier League with a two goal burst against West Brom. Paddy thinks Balotelli is ready to put in a decent shift, and with the obliging Bolton defence at Eastlands, he could well be a top earner over the Gameweek.

When it comes to midfield odds, it’s the Arsenal pairing of Samir Nasri and Andrei Arshavin who come out of top. They’re ranked ahead of the Chelsea pair Salomon Kalou and Florent Malouda an provide food for thought for those still contemplating the FPL armband. Nasri currently tops our Captain Poll.

Is there any way to find out if your H2H opponent put his 'emergency captain' to value or form? Many of my opponents have Berba as captain. 🙂

      Drogba out Rooney in
      Rooney out Drogba in.

Think he goes by the fpl scout. Must of been drunk when he did it or made an inspired transfer after Rooneys return. As for the Newbs in my league unfortunately I ran into the Berbabus captained last week by a team that hasn't changed in 8 weeks.

Everybody in my league has captain Tevez, now officially I am scared. I sold him when he got me 1 pt and couldn't sell Drogs cause I am Che fan. This game shouldn't be played with feelings, so I guess Drogs will go next GW unless he pulls a brace or 3 goals this GW. In that case I am gonna bring Balotelli. Now Mancini is playing 4 4 2 and please, please Tevez get a yellow this GW.

no recommendations here, but bets for today on the football-

chelsea, spurs, stoke, man city and blackburn draw. The missus picked it, pays 650 or more for my 15 euro.

second, 40/1 and a fiver in paddy power for all teams to score in all 6 3pm kickoffs today- this is fabulous value going on recent PL scoring

also, any rugby fans, williamhill have south africa to beat the barbarians by 1-12 points at 11/2.

this is HUGE value , some places only go 3/1 for SA 1-10. Bizarre odds. Its unlikely to come through, but id have this priced at around 3/1 and no more, so for that reason, and the fact the debutantes in the boks team are trying to make the world cup squad and they dont have another opportunity till June to stake a claim menas this SHOULD be hard fought game.

        anyway, thats all

Hate this waiting around until the team news start coming out.
Starting to plan next weeks team - atm with just Bosingwa>Kolorov, which would leave

        Hahanemann/Foster
        Kolorov Coleman Simpson/Konchesky
        Nani Nasri MGP N'Zogbia
        Drogba Davies Carroll

Any other improvements I could make? £4.5M in the bank

Just realised he's gone 8 weeks with 4 points or over.

I'm sure I'd be better off if i'd just captained him every one of those weeks.

            Probably not a terrible option.

Had Odemwingie but dropped him yesterday though I really wanted to keep him. Knee injury makes him a doubt and with Nani out I had no great captain option besides Drogba, so I brought in Tevez for Odemwingie. Love his value though at 5M and think he'll get 6 or 7 more goals this year.

        Hi all,

I need to take VDV out tonight before he drops, I also have 1.4 in the bank, who would you bring in? Looked at Bale but he has Chelsea next week, then Blackpool (weather pending could get cancelled) so that puts me off, who would you go for?

Hey look, as harsh as I was it's all subjective opinion. You're just up against a pretty fantasic site in this one.

              Congratulations in being nominated, nonetheless.

And TBF, I admit it's far easier to criticise than actually build and maintain a site.

We're up against a lot of fantastic sites. Lots of women footie fans enjoy Kickette. Swiss Ramble and Zonal Marking are great. This site is superb. Of course it's all subjective but I enjoy visiting 4-5 sites on that list regularly.

I think we do offer something quite different from most sites via our focus on fantasy football combined with our opinion (sometimes controversial) on general football news and coverage of live events like the World Cup as well as our viral videos and photos submitted by readers that we feature week in and week out and our constant back and forth banter with the top football bloggers on Twitter @NickyButt every weekend. Judge the body of work cumulatively and I think you'll be impressed by the NCNB inclusion.

Again, thanks for the opinion though - you can't please everyone! Though it is hard work blogging (more so than you think!)

In 3 years writing NCNB I'm most proud of being named one of the Top 25 football blogs by Telegraph readers - http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/football/competitions/premier-league/6243662/Top-25-football-websites-readers-choose-their-favourites.html - i can now retire knowing at least a few people got some laughs...

Dunno why I bother sometimes. Lost nearly 60 points last week to a bloke in one of my leagues (he has captained Berba every week). I look at his team this week and he still has the Bulgar captain as well as Nani in midfield. If he spawns a shedload of points with the emergency captain rule, I may as well shut up shop!

I refrained from taking any hits, but am none too confident. Hoping that there is a defensive backlash (- am playing 4 at the back for the first time this season).

Apart from the Bolton defence that is - Come on Carlito!!
