So Sam Allardyce was sacked? That’s odd. Onto bigger and better things undoubtedly for all; and to cheer us up from this solemn news is none other than a top of the table clash between Manchester United and Arsenal. Perfect Monday evening entertainment.

United revert to their 451/433 formation which has been a success in recent games against Arsenal, five goals in his most recent game isn’t enough for Berbatov to convince Fergie to alter his tactics. Everyone’s favourite tongue teaser Wojciech Szczesny starts in goal for Arsenal as his compatriot Lukas Fabianski fails to pass muster, Cesc Fabregas is only good enough for a place on the bench. Teams in full are…

United XI: Van Der Sar; Rafael, Vidic, Ferdinand, Evra; Fletcher, Carrick, Anderson; Nani, Rooney, Park

Arsenal XI: Szczesny; Sagna, Koscielny, Squillaci, Clichy; Song, Wilshere; Nasri, Rosicky, Arshavin; Chamakh

Whether you are a red or a red, or a neutral, the Dugout Discussion will be open for the evening to take in this battle in full flow.

Andy Leicester won the Premier League. Leicester. Premier League. What is this life? Follow them on Twitter

Yeah, one or 2 I can handle, especially if they're not really saves, but the PA provided live text for the match undeniably states he made 10 - that's 70% of them slipping under the radar which is bs. That's what is winding me up

I reckon the main thing to come out of this game, and this season, is that the so called big clubs have never been weaker. The likes of Clichy, Koscielny, Rosicky, Arshavin, Squillaci and Chamakh for Arsenal and Carrick, Anderson, Smalling, Brown, Obertan for Man Utd are exceptionally ordinary players. Yes Anderson has had his moments, but they are few and far between, I wouldnt rate him higher than 7/10 for his game today. None of the above players are good enough to be in two of the three top sides of the English Premier League, and if you add some of the Chelsea jokers: Ferreira, Ramires, Kalou, Anelka, Sturridge then it shows that the gap between the mega clubs and the rest has not narrowed because all of the other teams have improved, its mainly narrowed because the top teams have deteriorated.
The Man Utd side of 1999 would put five past the side of 2010

But you totally misunderstand the point Jafstar
"at their peak" yes, but Im on about NOW this season, they are average players. I am not knocking Man Utd, Chelsea or Arsenal I am simply saying that they have all deteriorated, whether that is because of lack of financial commitment the last couple of seasons or what I dont know, but they are not the powerhouses of old.

There's a lot of dreadful teams in the league. Are Villa, Everton, Fulham or Liverpool the strongest they've been in the past few years? There's no walkover team this season, but the bottom 8 or so teams are as terrible as I remember any being.

Spurs and Man C are about the only teams to have shown real improvement.

I know we've moved on to Nani-gate now, but BBC and Sky Sports say Elmander wasn't booked at the weekend... Odd.

Heh, yeah. My god he was dreadful though in his overall play. He gave the ball away so many times. Still, crucial goal and he works like a communist. Love him!

Penalty misses have crucified me this week - Drogba and Rooney (c) = 3 penalty misses and an 18 point swing.

Plus the assist that Nani would have got for the penalty, don't you just love this game. You can but laugh!

Rio was Sky MOTM. I reckon:

    Vidic 3
    Rafael 2
    Park 1

    or maybe

    Park 3

    Nani 1

Another epic captain fail! I blame Nani (and myself and Rooney):(
Rooneys frustration at Nani was evident. I seem to remember the same last year when rooney was really pissed off at Nani's greed and lack of assists. Then he was replaced by Valencia and it became boom time for Rooney. Sure I'm right, maybe a Utd fan can confirm?

Yep, that's pretty much what happened. Nani has improved a lot with his decison making and final ball, but not so good tonight.
