The Carlos Tevez transfer saga is without doubt playing havoc with the minds of Fantasy Football Managers. In the Fantasy Premier League (FPL) game Tevez boasts the third highest points tally and is owned by a whopping 24.3% as a result. Beyond that existing ownership, plenty of others will have been eyeing up Tevez as an option with City entering a kind run of opponents over the forthcoming Gameweeks. In the light of the weekend’s events however, there’s every chance that Tevez will not be seen in a City shirt again this season then, let alone in Monday’s fixture with Everton at Eastlands.

The initial signs are positive however. The want-away striker apparently smiled his way through training and the latest reports suggest that he is happy to continue playing for City for the time being. His adviser Kia Joorabchian has recently stated…

“Carlos has never said he is not going to play so those rumours are rubbish. He will play if picked and 100% do his best. He feels that is important every time he puts on the shirt.”

In the main then, his Fantasy owners are surely set to hold firm, at least until we hear an official statement from City. That’s when we are due to get Roberto Mancini’s take on the situation; his view will be crucial.

It’s still not 100% certain that the City boss will select Tevez. Mancini has favoured a 4-5-1 for much of the season and 20 year-old loose cannon, Mario Balotelli, has all the potential to become City’s principal attacker. Plus of course, City won convincingly at West Ham last time out, without a suspended Tevez.

If the Argentinian’s Eastlands departure is confirmed, Mancini will surely have to decide on who to appoint as his new captain as Tevez’s stance will do little for dressing room morale. Whether Mancini opts to make a replacement signing in the January transfer window remains to be seen, but reports suggest that the likes of current FPL joint top scorer Andy Carroll, Atletico Madrid’s Sergio Aguero, Edin Dzeko and a swap deal for either Karim Benzema or Gonzalo Higuain are all firmly on City’s radar.

Tevez possible destination is another matter, with his most obvious port of call, Real Madrid, reportedly unable to afford the Argentine, it is unclear where he will end up. Reports generally seem to think that he is destined for La Liga, although an Argentinian journalist, who is reportedly close to Tevez’s family, has stated that a move to another Premier League club is not outside the realms of possibility…

“Carlos is unhappy with Manchester City and some of the relationships in the club – he is not unhappy with England, with the Premier League. He says he is tired, he is mentally and physically tired, but the impression he gives is that he will not give up football – and his motivation is not money. Carlos will join another club, and although Spain offers him another option – one where his family may be prepared to move nearer to him – he could stay in England.”

We’re informed that Roberto Mancini will hold talks with Tevez on Friday and that will be the next major development in the saga. Until then we can expect further speculation and conflicting reports from all corners of the media. The only certainty right now is that Tevez remains a crucial player – not only for City but also for many Fantasy Managers.

It was probably a bit unfair to be honest gargamel, they were the most creative and may well have gone on to win it but for the spanish. What i am trying to say is that its not that cut and dry, although they were technically very good against most teams they seemed lost against Spain. There was no heart, no craft and they seemed to be missing the belief.

Lucky I cruised through the site with CTRL+F to find my own posts then! 🙂

Yeah I agree with you too, they lacked belief in that game.

I know it's hard, I merely pointed out what Löw has worked with which I think is very impressive as when he and Klinsmann took over Germany looked doomed and were one of the most boring teams in the world.

It's about realizing your own weaknesses and addressing them, something I think many teams (again both clubs and national sidse) fail to do.

i read an article on the german national team and the planning they started to put in about 8 years ago, they were very clever and took it to the clubs who bought into their ideas of how to move things forward. it was a great read and a bit of an eye opener to realise just how far ahead they were looking with respect to seeing the fruits of their labour

Some real quality in the side and some very exciting youngsters. Kehl, Subotic, Mohammed Zidan, Barrios, Götze. I hope they stay together for a while more so we can watch them in the Champions League next season.

I'm absolutely certain I would be up for that. Worst case scenario, sell him on to Citeh for another £80m....

Is it cos everyone at Madrid (well, the players anyway) hates him? Saw him score the other day and not one player celebrated with him.

I have no idea about how the players like Ronaldo, but if they don't celebrate with him I'm not surprised.

When HE scores he expects everybody to come celebrate with him, and when somebody and he assists he expects the scorer and everybody else to come celebrate with him.

That is part of what I love him though, wouldn't want it any other way!

Think SAF realised that he needs to be spoilt to get the best out of him - tell him he's the best enough and he'll play like it.

I did see the rumours about Jose wanting Chico, seems a bit unlikely considering we've just got him. I tohught he wanted a Drogba type striker.

Thing is bubbles, in the Ronaldo era we did have an unbelievable team but it was all set up around him. He scored all the goals. Now, 19 different people have scored for us this season and there is a bit more balance. Call me crazy but i'd prefer to see Bale bought than Ronaldo again. Something just doesn't sit right about rebuying players. Plus, Chicharito is obviously bloody good if Madrid are sniffing around ALREADY.

I see where you're coming from, but I just miss CRon. That 2007/08 team was the best Utd team I've seen (better than the treble winning team imo). Counter attacking football at it's very, very best.

Nani has blossomed and with him on the left, Ronnie on the right, Rooney and Berba up top, it would be lethal. Two work horses like Fletcher and Anderson in the middle and the strong back four. Pretty heavenly.

Yeah that 2008 team was the best BUT Ronnie can't play RW in a 442, he doesn't have the defence ability or effort and it negates his attacking threat. That's kinda the reason we changed to the 433 with Ronaldo, Rooney and Tevez interchanging positions upfront. Sh*t it was sweet though!

Hernandez isn't utter shite, but I think the frothing and hype earlier in the season was way more than he deserved. He might be a decent player in a couple of years, but he is not the second coming.

He's hardly started or played yet you bloody ejit! Also, he's already scored some crucial goals. How can you make assumptions on a player who has scored 1 in 2 while not starting consistently. He certainly has more potential than that lump Andy Carroll. You don't see the special one sniffing at his door do you! 👿

Thats my point brains - you in particular and a number of others were going mental about him being awesome and the best thing since sliced bread with very, very little evidence to back that up apart from a couple of goals. What did I say incorrect above? He might be a decent player, well he might - then again after a good start he might not do much however I am NOT saying he is a poor player. Carroll has been a regular this season and is performing well, Hernandez has started a couple of games - they are incomparable, as for some dodgy tabloid rumour being a measure - well I dont need to tell you how nonsensical that is.
Hernandez has potential, but the fuss and rush to transfer him into FPL teams was well out of the bounds of common sense.

Let's face it Gary Cook is the biggest tosser of them all. At a city shindig he committed a huge faux paux when he was introducing Uwe Rossler in the City hall of fame and announced him into the Man United hall of fame!! There was the backing of Shiniwatra who was under investigation in Thailand, then he said City would be bigger than United, Barcelona and Real Madrid
then there was the Kaka incident and the sacking of Hughes, then there was the Welcome to Manchester poster, then there was the Rooney tapping up. Absolutely no class.

Just a quick question guys.. is Kolarov back for the weekend? i have 2 freebies and i'm thinking of downgrading Toure for him and doing Drogba > Torres.

    Foster
    Toure Vidic Konchesky
    Cahill Bale Nani Brunt
    Drogba Carroll Tevez

    Begovic N'Zogbia Coleman Dann

1.Kolarov is back but I would not waste a transfer on getting him for Toure. Use only 1 transfer, you will have another 2 the week after...
2.Don't bench N'Zog, I'd rather bench Bale or Cahill
3.Drogs>Torres is risky, but could work.

Might do Torres -> Odem if the b*gger doesn't start perfroming. It would sure free up some unperforming cash.

Maybe he meant the arrow the other way round, the way young people do. So, it's Torres to Drogba.

Drogba scored in his last two games and uses to perform in big games, especially against Arsenal.
I will get Torres myself for Elmander, but have my doubts over his form...

I'd say that'd be an upgrade, but why not just do Drogs for Torres and keep your extra feebie for next week?

I think so. One of the best I've seen at the Valley. Parker, Bent, Shelvey... we're a breeding ground for quality.

          I should stop drinking.

          What's his best position anyhow?

I liked it when we played 4-5-1 and he was tucked in behind the striker. Of course, Bent was scoring for fun back then...

Shelvey has no real weaknesses. When some of his strengths are sharpened, he'll be looked at as one of the best buys at Anfield for years.*

            *which isn't saying much
