The double-gameweeks start right here, right now as round two in the battle of the ‘Pools kicks off in the Premier league and the Dugout Disucssion opens it’s doors especially. Ian Holloway is playing host to his hero Kenny Dalglish and there’s all sorts of interesting tittle-tattle to take from this game…

Charlie Adam is considered one of the hot properties of this winter transfer window and now he has another chance to show just what he’s worth. Perversely, Liverpool are reported to have entered to race for the Scot so will want to see their target play a blinder but somehow come a cropper this evening.

As for the teams, the baby boom continues on Merseyside as new father Glen Johnson is drafted back into the Liverpool defence, seemingly at left-back with Fabio Aurelio not capable of two games in a week, Martin Kelly more than deserving of his place in the XI and Paul Konchesky very much on the bench and out of the fray. The midfield gets even stranger as two of Liverpool’s worst summer signings -Milan Jovanovic and Christian Poulsen- are drafted in. Can Kenny get out of them what Roy Hodgson couldn’t? I’m guessing we’ve got a 4-3-2-1 on our hands, but it’s hard to tell.

Blackpool meanwhile set out a fairly predictable side after the rest the FA Cup afforded the squad, Elliot Grandin has sufficiently recovered from injury to jump right back into the starting side. Line-ups in full are…

Blackpool XI: Kingson; Eardley, Evatt, Cathcart, Crainey; Adam, Vaughan, Grandin; Taylor-Fletcher, Campbell, Varney

Liverpool XI: Reina; Kelly, Agger, Skrtel, Johnson; Poulsen, Lucas; Kuyt, Meireles, Jovanovic; Torres

We will of course be keeping a close eye on affairs in the Carling Cup too. Arsenal are looking to get a head of steam on Ipswich in their first leg. The Dugout Discussion is of course on hand for anyone needing their Wednesday night fix.

Alright mate, family from South Shields way, but I have never lived there, Im the guy who gets grief for the first ten mins at home games for being southern! Where you? You seem to be a fair way ahead of me at the min..the DGW's will be key....
What you think about Larson? He could be a good buy. We need depth in midfield, Guthrie and Smith arent good enough. See that Gosling played his first game today? Be great if hes back soon.

The bitterness! I cant find out anything about him due to such sentiments! According to all Everton fansites he is a one legged mercenary, with no skill! HEs clearly decent or you wouldnt have made a fuss when he left, hs going to be betetr than Guthrie and Smith from what Ive heard, so squad depth is all good! Coleman did me well again this week BD!

    Im doubting it.
Could replace him with anybody other than Drogba, Torres or Rooney.

    Hart - (Kingson)
    Vidic - Bardsley - Kolarov - (Evatt) - (Foley)
    Nasri - Nani - Fabs - VdV - Adam
    Tevez - Berbs - (Carroll)

Do you people ever watch spanish football? or do you just gobble up the moronic opinions of ignorant english pundits and journalists who assume that because Messi and Ronaldo dominate in Spain the league must be poor. Ronaldo tore the English league apart ffs!

The Spanish league is criticised for being a two team league, what has the premier league been since the Arsenal invincibles, Chelsea v Man Utd.

Messi would score as many as he liked in this league, just as he does every week in Spain. I suppose you are the type of guy who thinks Rooooooooooonehhh is up there with Messi, Ronaldo, Sneijder et al!?

    Team is as follows:

    Hart/Stockdale
    Rafael/Vidic/Coleman/Taylor/Shorey/
    Lamps/Nani/Fab/Nasri/Adam
    RVP/DJ/Derbyshire.

Shorey/Derbyshire standout risks, but if get playing will reap rewards imo. Tho Derbyshire will only play gw 23, then wont till gw 26 when they have 2 VERY good games.

The cup showed some weaknesses and said alot about its domestic cup potential, but for league play, don't read into it. Arsenal's second string GK and second string defense, third string striker, fourth string striker and an off-form arshavin we're playing. The only players of note i saw were Chamakh, Walcott and Fabregas.

chelsea are a different team with lampard pulling the strings. I think you'll see them start to get back to their old selves very soon, just my opinion tho.

Chelsea are dying a slow death. The owner is unhappy with the team and the players are too old. They have no youth prospects.

I'm thinking this week bringing in Zog and also dropping Cashley for a cheaper option (?)

Then can bring in Berbatov and maybe Dempsey for the double?

Or bring in Zog and Dempsey this week?

Sorely tempted to bring in Dzeko and keep Tevez. I know that City haven't been scoring a great deal of goals, but for each of their prices I don't see a better option and with the lack of points in City's midfield...Furthermore I foresee them doing well in different types of games, Dzeko in home fixtures predominantly and Tevez away and in the really big games where Dzeko risks not starting. If they had any double GWs I'd do it for sure.

However think I'll pick one and stick with them, as it'd require an overhaul to incorporate both. Now it's just a matter of which...can really see the big man making a big impact but Tevez is a cert to deliver. God damnit.

ya might be better off with cheap guaranteed starters like campell or obinweingy or carrol when he's back at least until you see what the story is

Yeah Carroll's staying for sure and Campbell is my other one atm in order to afford a midfield 5 that start every week, just a matter of choosing, thinking I'm gonna go with the big man for a few weeks.

Or, as a kid i was a runner for the local hoodie, i moved onto bigger things when i got my bmx. within days i was buying ounces and splitting it up into small bags for my buddies and the surrounding scheme. with the profits i invested in the chemical advances just as it scene started to go mad. Now, i'm Mr Big, lying here on the Costa Brava with my ho's enjoying paella. That sounds like a reasonable personal development plan .
