The double-gameweeks start right here, right now as round two in the battle of the ‘Pools kicks off in the Premier league and the Dugout Disucssion opens it’s doors especially. Ian Holloway is playing host to his hero Kenny Dalglish and there’s all sorts of interesting tittle-tattle to take from this game…

Charlie Adam is considered one of the hot properties of this winter transfer window and now he has another chance to show just what he’s worth. Perversely, Liverpool are reported to have entered to race for the Scot so will want to see their target play a blinder but somehow come a cropper this evening.

As for the teams, the baby boom continues on Merseyside as new father Glen Johnson is drafted back into the Liverpool defence, seemingly at left-back with Fabio Aurelio not capable of two games in a week, Martin Kelly more than deserving of his place in the XI and Paul Konchesky very much on the bench and out of the fray. The midfield gets even stranger as two of Liverpool’s worst summer signings -Milan Jovanovic and Christian Poulsen- are drafted in. Can Kenny get out of them what Roy Hodgson couldn’t? I’m guessing we’ve got a 4-3-2-1 on our hands, but it’s hard to tell.

Blackpool meanwhile set out a fairly predictable side after the rest the FA Cup afforded the squad, Elliot Grandin has sufficiently recovered from injury to jump right back into the starting side. Line-ups in full are…

Blackpool XI: Kingson; Eardley, Evatt, Cathcart, Crainey; Adam, Vaughan, Grandin; Taylor-Fletcher, Campbell, Varney

Liverpool XI: Reina; Kelly, Agger, Skrtel, Johnson; Poulsen, Lucas; Kuyt, Meireles, Jovanovic; Torres

We will of course be keeping a close eye on affairs in the Carling Cup too. Arsenal are looking to get a head of steam on Ipswich in their first leg. The Dugout Discussion is of course on hand for anyone needing their Wednesday night fix.

Anyone know if Kolarov from Man City, is likely to play in the next few game weeks? Thinking of Kolarov (out) - Alcaraz (in). Cuase of Wigan's DGW and to free up some cash?

Kolarov played not part in the last game. So I'd hazard a guess & say he's going to play in the next one.

While I hunt down said bookmark, here is the cut & paste version -

I crafted a team aimed for GW 24 that’s balanced and flexible.
    Fabianski, Begovic
    Rafael, Skrtel, Bramble, Evatt, Jara
Nani, Van Der Vaart, Gerrard, N’Zogbia, Adam
    Tevez, Berbatov, Torres

Fabregas comes in the week after for Gerrard, or I might just get him right away if Liverpool are still looking crap.
Up front, Torres can be switched for Drogba readily if Chelsea start hitting form. Or I could go Lamps and RvP if Fabregas gets injured.
Defense is tailored for the double fixtures, with flexibility in mid price choices like Rafael offering alternatives such as Bosingwa, Dawson, even Kolarov again if he holds down a starting place.
I can’t see any weaknesses, and it’s still quite clearly a WC taking advantage of the GW 24 fixtures.
    5 in the MUN game
N’Zog for Wigan
3 Liverpool

    Here we go…
ManUtd have two double GWs starting GW 24. They also have decent opponents in that run, and it’s a great time to start investing in their players.
Arsenal begin a run in GW 24 that’s outstanding. 4 homes games in the next 5, and all easy opponents to boot. Tailoring a team to get their players could prove pivotal.
Blackpool still have two more double gameweeks from GW 24 onwards, and if you invest wisely, they could score you good points.
That leaves Liverpool who have amazing fixtures for GW 24 that are there to be taken advantage of.
    This coincides with…
Chelsea who suddenly have 3 away games in 4 starting GW 24 and no double fixtures til GW28. Which means that it’s relatively safe to not have Chelsea coverage from GW24 – 27. You can start tweaking your team to get it geared up for Chelsea’s double in 28 slowly, and it also gives you time to monitor their form.
That’s only the big teams we’re talking about! You can also start sticking in budget players who have nice fixtures.
Think about how much you stand to gain from a really good few weeks between GW 24 and 28. If you build your squad well and keep it flexible, it also gives you time to plan for the double GW 27 and 28 and for the rest of the season.

Nothing revolutionary there - sorry Camzy! - and with the exception of Arsenal, I'll have plenty of players from each of the sides Camzy mentions, without having to take a point hit in the next two weeks.

Definitely set on playing my wildcard in week 26.

You've built a better squad than mine then. I've got to reformat my whole defense.

It's not set by any means, but if your team is struggling to fit in ManUtd, Arsenal and to a lesser extent, Blackpool, you should consider wildcarding GW 24.

Some teams I've seen around here are actually looking really well primed for this run already, so obviously it's in their interest to hold on, but as for me, and for quite a few folks still with heavy Chelsea and the likes of Kolarov and Konchesky, WC'ing now would be their best move.

Hmmmm.......food for thought. I'm reasonably set up for Man Utd (Rooney in for GW24), but quite poorly set up for Arsenal.
I understand the Chelsea poor fixtures thing, my only worry is that getting Lampard in without a wildcard would be incredibly difficult.
Good thoughts though Camzy and thanks executive producer Churchill

        Gordon
        VIDIC JOHNSON Coleman
        NANI ADAM N'ZOGBIA Nasri
        TORRES ROONEY CAMPBELL

Obviously with the players in capitals having double weeks, and each of Gordon, Coleman and Nasri have great fixtures themselves.

Bloody Konchesky really buggers it up, have to get rid I suppose. Rooney will come in for Tevez and Mr X (TBC) for Kolarov. Might do a change this week to avoid a hit and get either Coleman or an Arsenal player to replace Kolarov.

No way he's playing. Arsenal are playing West Ham. They are gonna play with a strong side for sure but they arn't gonna risk him especially with his hamstring problem. Wenger surely has learned from playing often too early. Moreover, Nasri has more than shown he can fill the Spaniard's cleats. He might come on as a sub, but he won't start.

Interesting. Lucky to get Hernandez and CAhill pts. But then there are 2.4 mio people playing, so that many combinations. Someone is bound to be lucky, and get all the numbers correct, as in lottery. If one can be in 500k every week, then the overall ranking is surely gonna be within 1000. Hmmm...I know it's a big risk to throw Dzeko in without seeing how he is gonna play but it does free up a few mil to improve the midfield.

    I could have:

    Hart Kingson
    Coleman Rafael Simpson Djourou Bramble
    Nani Lampard Fabregas VDV Adam
    Carroll Campbell Dzeko

    Do it?

Here is my planned WC for GW 23:

    Stockdale / Begovic
Shawcross / Ciaran Clark / Rafael / Coleman / Hughes
    Fabregas / N'Zogbia / Adam / VdV / Nani
Van Persie / DJ Campbell / Drogba

    WEEK 24: Drogba >> Rooney

Yes, they realized that it was idiotic to transfer in a player who hasn't played a single second in the EPL. We don't even know how many minutes he'll get. At that price you can choose from any number of proven players.

    Don't understand the Stockdale love.

Schwarzer will be back latest January 30th. He mightn't play in GW 25, but he'll definitely be back for GW 26, and that's the best case scenario if Australia make the final.

Stockdale is only good for 4 gameweeks maximum. He might not even play the second of the double gameweek in 24 against Liverpool if Australia get knocked out early.

Besides, why would you force yourself to make a goalie transfer when you almost certainly will need those transfers for outfield players who must be priority.

Add on the fact that Stockdale is 3.9, and finding a replacement requires additional funds sitting around as well. It's a recipe for disaster.

Take your point Camzy but for me he's coming in for a max of 2 weeks next week. I need to get rid of Krul, he has a DGW coming up and when I play my wildcard he'll be gone for a Begovic or similar.

Beyond that I agree with you, he'll be bench fodder come Feb.
