The double-gameweeks start right here, right now as round two in the battle of the ‘Pools kicks off in the Premier league and the Dugout Disucssion opens it’s doors especially. Ian Holloway is playing host to his hero Kenny Dalglish and there’s all sorts of interesting tittle-tattle to take from this game…

Charlie Adam is considered one of the hot properties of this winter transfer window and now he has another chance to show just what he’s worth. Perversely, Liverpool are reported to have entered to race for the Scot so will want to see their target play a blinder but somehow come a cropper this evening.

As for the teams, the baby boom continues on Merseyside as new father Glen Johnson is drafted back into the Liverpool defence, seemingly at left-back with Fabio Aurelio not capable of two games in a week, Martin Kelly more than deserving of his place in the XI and Paul Konchesky very much on the bench and out of the fray. The midfield gets even stranger as two of Liverpool’s worst summer signings -Milan Jovanovic and Christian Poulsen- are drafted in. Can Kenny get out of them what Roy Hodgson couldn’t? I’m guessing we’ve got a 4-3-2-1 on our hands, but it’s hard to tell.

Blackpool meanwhile set out a fairly predictable side after the rest the FA Cup afforded the squad, Elliot Grandin has sufficiently recovered from injury to jump right back into the starting side. Line-ups in full are…

Blackpool XI: Kingson; Eardley, Evatt, Cathcart, Crainey; Adam, Vaughan, Grandin; Taylor-Fletcher, Campbell, Varney

Liverpool XI: Reina; Kelly, Agger, Skrtel, Johnson; Poulsen, Lucas; Kuyt, Meireles, Jovanovic; Torres

We will of course be keeping a close eye on affairs in the Carling Cup too. Arsenal are looking to get a head of steam on Ipswich in their first leg. The Dugout Discussion is of course on hand for anyone needing their Wednesday night fix.

nah i've always thought lucas was a decent player who was asked by captain defensive pants benitez to do a horribly robotic, boring and defensive job. i honestly think having long girly hair and being called lucas is a big reason why even his own fans mocked him in the last couple of years.

With the funds they have if they managed to stay up it would be a minor football miracle. Honestly the strength of this Blackpool team financially compared to any other in the premier league is so minor that what they've already managed is superb and beyond expectation. Holloway has done superb things with Blackpool and deserves respect for it.

He deserves respect for what he's managed to do at Blackpool.

The football team I support is Burnley and even though Owen Coyle deserves nothing but contempt for the way he left Burnley he still deserves nothing but respect for what he's managed in such a short time at Bolton.

To expect someone to play the villain or the hero all the time is naive.

He took a team that was weak by Championship standards to the Premiership and then without strengthening it managed to keep it out of the relegation zone by mid season. Even if they do get relegated it won't take away from them what they've achieved this season.

His managerial career before that is irrelevant imo because Holloway has stated several time that the year out he had after Leicester made him change his beliefs and playing style. Anyway, it's a hell of a fluke given that he's been in charge for 18+ months.

Very true, it was a strange but wonderful sight to see a Burnley side play beautiful attacking football. I think Burnley fans lost sight of the fact he is a career manager and should have taken his rhetoric with a pinch of salt, but still he got us promoted, got all our debts paid off so it would be wrong to complain to much.

To be fair, after getting the sack from Leicester he used his time out to reflect and after watching the mighty Swans he decided he would change his style...the attacking football for him was born.

I've got to agree with Grimaldi's post above. With the budget he has had both this season and last, he has done a fantastic job thus far.

Am I the only one who thinks that, bizarrely given how popular he is the wider world, Bale is under-rated on this site? You don't see him in many wildcard teams at the moment - people lose him amongst the slightly more expensive players.

Bale is 6.5 if you've had him from the start, 7.4 if you're looking to get him in now, and he's the 5th top-scoring midfielder in the game at this point. Ok, so he's been an ever-present, but I personally would back him to carry on this rate of scoring. I mean, he's only had 3 assists so far this season; he can definitely beat that in the second half.

And the majority of people don't want to have both.

The reason you wont see him much on here, is because generally people only want one Spurs mid (please dont look at my team as I'm being a hypocrite). Now who do you choose? VdV or Bale? Easy.

      simpe really,
no ideal team can fit two spurs mids, so everyone chooses VDV, cos no matter how good bale is , vdv is class!

as well as that, prem teams have a better team containing him then others, he needs to develop his game more IMHO, but i think he will do that

It's all about VDV. If VDV isn't there, Bale becomes must have. And I'm not even one of those who thinks VDV affects Bale's totals, I just think that unless a team ahs an exceptional run of fixtures, you afford to have more than one midfielder from the same team. VDV is on set pieces and is better with bonus, so he wins

Adam picked up his play in the last 25 minutes, for those interested. Saw much of the ball and showed some good creative passing.

Blackpool looking the more dangerous side, with that man Vaughan having the game of his life.

I don't want to fall into the trap of criticizing players just because others do it but I think Kuyt, Jovanovic and Lucas are a big reason why Liverpool have a problem getting their attacking play to work tonight. Meireles has been poor too.

it's basically demi asking questions on the normal chat thing. think there were 4 categories with about 5 questions each. problem is for example there was a question about player's squad number and you have loads of people answering at the same time just guessing so you get a stream of about 100 numbers in the space of 10 seconds. it was funny each time we had to go back and see who actually got the answer first as it was so frantic. there were about 4 teams of 3-5 people.

i just fluked my way in. saw a post from taz on here saying quiz starting soon change name to van der faarts to join, then forgot about it then went of fpl anyway to check rises and saw it going on in the chat bar so changed my name and snuck in just in time. there was a guy on our team who didn't get a single question right until the very last question to tie us for the lead, then he got the tie-breaker, he just loves the pressure.
think it might be every week, look for it advertised on the news feed on their site. we should make a team as i felt a bit bad joining another team late even if it was due to taz advertising it on here

It was a soft goal to concede, they lost position in the middle of their own half and Vaughan played the ball straight forward to GTF who beat Agger and scored. I think GTF was a little bit lucky (the ball hit agger and GTF got it again afterwards). Both the centre backs and the one who lost the ball in midfield (think Meireles) will have to take responsibility for that one imo.

2056: Pace, power... Connor Wickham looks a footballer. He surges down the Ipswich left and tries to cross, and Ipswich have impetus for an attack Arsenal really struggle to deal with. A Mark Kennedy cross is well headed away by Kieran Gibbs, before Wickham has a well-struck shot from 12 yards that is superbly blocked by Emmanuel Eboue.

talk about blowing a young propsect way out of proportion, he ran into space
and it was a useless shot where eboue didnt have to move!

In my case I'm looking for a 4-5 week commitment (so maybe Rafael fits that bill for you?), so Coleman might be another avenue -- of course it hurts how I had to sell him for 4.6 and buy back at 5 now... You have Bardsley so that's out for you... Could do Hughes instead of Hang and save use that money next week... I'm also thinking of "Arsenal" in general but not sure whom... And in your case maybe Ridgwell for a Birmingham coverage (not sure in mine as I have Foster already)... Told you my mind is full of stuff...

My live stream keeps going down every 5 or 6 seconds. Very frustrating. Am I doing anything wrong (downloads etc.) or do people just watch it all jumpy-jerky?
    Thanks lads
