This weekend could see a swarm of new January Transfer Window recruits make their debuts. The most tantalising prospect is arguably Manchester City’s new towering target man, Edin Dzeko, who looks set to feature heavily against Wolves. Other new signings include Roque Santa Cruz’s return to Blackburn, Wayne Bridge looking to bolster West Ham’s backline, Tottenham’s forgotten man David Bentley striving to revive his career at Birmingham, while Steve Sidwell is in a comparable position as he prepares for his Fulham debut.

Elsehwere, Andy Carroll has been ruled out of Sunday’s derby with Sunderland leaving Leon Best and Shola Ameobi to fight it out for a place in the Newcastle attack. Manchester United look set to welcome back Wayne Rooney, Nemanja Vidic and Edwin Van Der Sar as they take on a Beckham-less Tottenham side, who have announced Gareth Bale as match fit. Wojciech Szczesny will start at West Ham for Arsenal after Lukasz Fabianski was ruled out of Saturday’s game. David Silva is still touch and go for Manchester City and will find out later today if he will make their squad.

All the latest, breaking reports are available on our fresh and up-to-date Team News page. Tweets are also constantly flying in, so keep an eye on those too.

johnfinlay John swears he'll deliver unbiased Fantasy Premier League tips and news...until Leeds get promoted.

If Piennar does cement a move (Everton has accepted an offer), would that lock Coleman in for good?

Agreed. Pienaar essentially plays solely on the left and at time in mid for us, wherease Coleman is a right winger. Osman, or Billy would likely slot in for pienaar for the remainder of the summer.

Is noone else thinking dzeko will either be a bench warmer at city or if not have a negative effect in general? How will they accommodate him? Play tevez wide? This will just annoy their best player. Terrible signing.

UTD beat Spurs comfortably at Old Trafford. VDV hardly had time on the ball. It's very rarely a top midfielder manages to score against UTD as they plan very well. Can't see Spurs winning.

You're not going to bench a player you spend £28m on, say that he adds another dimension to the attack that all of the other City FWD’s don’t have and claim that he can win the league for the club… Common sense states that Dzeko should start 90% of the games. Mancini even said that Balotelli, Tevez and Dzeko can all play in the same 11… And Balotelli out for 4 weeks, do the maths…

Not a chance, he has had a nice rest and has been training a lot. Also had a month to adjust to life at City. I am 110% confident that Dzeko will start, so much so I made him my Captain. If he had joined yesterday or today, then I would worry about the bench.

    Foster, Jussi

    Baines, Johnson, Rafael, Kolarov, Foley

    Nani, Nasri, Adam, Brunt, vdV

    Torres, Carroll, Welbeck

    Bank:3.5

A couple of Qs, I would simply love if you would be so kind as to answer:

With the news Carroll is out for 'a fortnight' should I do Carroll to DJ? This would then leave me the money to do Welbeck to Berbatov the next week.

Which of my defenders should I drop to the bench alongside Foley? All the others have their plus and minus points.

1 free transfer to do Konchesky > Hangeland. Would give me this team for GW23 and 4.7 in the bank, but with no Arsenal cover. One of Adam/Bale/Brunt > Nasri next week possibly?

    Begovic
    Coleman Kolarov Hangeland
    Adam Bale Nani Brunt N’Zogbia
    Torres Tevez(C)

    Foster Vidic Evatt Carroll

Is there a particular reason people seem to be using their WC now before the transfer window closes? I'm going to keep mine to use for DGW 27, seems like the perfect time. Am I missing something?

I've played it this week. Why wait to get the best possible team for the rest of the season? Also, I expect the most sought-after players to go up in price quite steeply as everyone plays their wild cards. My plans for the weeks ahead involve every 0.1 I can get.

      Each to their own, though.

The way the fixtures fall this week you can pick a pretty reasonable WC team for this week which is also tailored to next weeks double.

Of course, if you have planned in advance and already have a decent team for this week and plenty of Double GW players for next week then 27 is the perfect time yes (that what im doing)

    Best pair?

    Nasri and Drogba
    Nasri and Tevez
    Fabregas and Elmander
    Lampard and DJ

Wouldn't go near Drogba or Elmander. Probably Nasri and Tevez but worried about Tevez being pushed wide right now.

Just to let you know that My dog Arthur has been found. He was spotted in a field near to where I've been leaving things from our house. Thanks to everyone for your support, even RBJ for his bizarre Snatch style stories of my dog being picked up for "fighting dog fodder". Dog has been found, but could it be time for me to lose my Drog?

Why havent liverpool been in the hunt for larrsson, bentley, keane e.t.c. Admittedly none of them world beaters but could only improve a team that has, i mean this in no way as a joke, looked like my local under 13's team at times this season.

So larrsson is worse than jovanovic? No. Keane is worse than ngog? No. Bentley is worse than kuyt? No. Like i said in my original post i by no means think the players ive suggested are brilliant but i think taking a proactive approach is better than doing nothing. Who could liverpool attract that are of a higher standard than those players? Makoun is going for 5m for christsake And could fill the void left by xabi alonso (his departure bring the reason for liverpools decline in my opinion) get your money out your pocket now before its too late. Who they hoping to get? An out of favour kaka? Keep dreaming

Yeah obviously its easy to joke about keane but was he given a fair chance? No. Im not even a liverpool fan yet im clutching at straws looking for possible ways to improve their fortunes. What is anyone at the club actually doing?! Seriously.

n'gog is a joke but at least he's young and will get better. keane is a player who always relied on his sharpness and as that is disappearing year by year robbie keane is dying a slow death.
