This weekend could see a swarm of new January Transfer Window recruits make their debuts. The most tantalising prospect is arguably Manchester City’s new towering target man, Edin Dzeko, who looks set to feature heavily against Wolves. Other new signings include Roque Santa Cruz’s return to Blackburn, Wayne Bridge looking to bolster West Ham’s backline, Tottenham’s forgotten man David Bentley striving to revive his career at Birmingham, while Steve Sidwell is in a comparable position as he prepares for his Fulham debut.

Elsehwere, Andy Carroll has been ruled out of Sunday’s derby with Sunderland leaving Leon Best and Shola Ameobi to fight it out for a place in the Newcastle attack. Manchester United look set to welcome back Wayne Rooney, Nemanja Vidic and Edwin Van Der Sar as they take on a Beckham-less Tottenham side, who have announced Gareth Bale as match fit. Wojciech Szczesny will start at West Ham for Arsenal after Lukasz Fabianski was ruled out of Saturday’s game. David Silva is still touch and go for Manchester City and will find out later today if he will make their squad.

    Right team ready for next week. Struggled through with decisions but finally came up with it and its a completely off the wall team:
    Hart
    Coleman Hangeland Djourou
    Vdv Adam Nasri Fabs

    Subs:Foster Nani Evatt Rafael
    Theory behind the team:
    Foster - cheap,Birmingham have a TGW Coming up so he picks himself.
    Hart - City have one of the ebst defences in the league and I wouldnt mind playing him against anyone in the league.
    Coleman - OOP and has petential for attacking points.
    Hangeland -Attacking threat and he has a DGW coming up.
    Djourou - Nice fixtures and he's cheap.
    Evatt - Cheap.
    Rafel - DGW coming up.
    Nani - Fantasy Gold and Dgw coming up.
    Vdv - Fantasy gold.
    Adam -DGW coming up.
    Nari and Fabs - Lovely fixtures.
    Dzeko - One week punt.
    DJ -DGW on its way.

          Of course Dzeko will start man! He has been rested and did some training in Spain during the winter break in German league. He has been training at City for over a week. He is in perfect shape to play 90 mins!

              Mancini said he will play against Wolves. Some interpret that from the bench, but I have to believe he is favoured to Jo and City will play 2 up front against Wolves. He is in superb condition, been able to adjust at the club for a week already. If he had signed yest or today then I would be worried about him starting on the bench.

              All the city fans are desperate to see him start. Mancini's formation will make quite a change as well. As above, what better game than home to Wolves? The fans would be more annoyed if they scrape out a draw after bringing him on at 60 mins than starting him. He's also absolutely match fit.

      Good team. I'm actually debating exact same team & was thinking of using one of my wilcard now as have the two wilcard still and get as much pts early as possible before everyone changes their teams with the compulsory wilcard in about 2-3wks, as 80pts in 2 of my mini/money leagues.

    Have already ditched Koncheskey for Djourou, but in an attempt to differentiate my squad from those around me i'm toying with the idea of doing 1 of the following, your input would be most grateful :

    1. Taking a 4 point hit and doing Gerrard for NZogbia in prep for next week
    2. Taking a 4 point hit and doing Gerrard for Fabregas as Arsenal have a favourable fixture run
    3.just wait wait till next week to do 1 or 2 ?

      Same dilemma as me. I'm thinking maybe do Gerrard > Nzogbia now for DGW next week and then go Nzogbia > Fabs in GW 25. Really want to get Fabs back in my team but WIgan's 3 games versus Arse's 2 are attractive

        Your not going to bench a player you spend £28m on, say that he adds another dimension to the attack that all of the other City fwd's don't have and claim that he can win the league for the club... Common sense that Dzeko should start 90% of the games. Mancini even said that Balotelli, Tevez and Dzeko can all play in the same 11... And Balotelli out for 4 weeks, do the maths...
