This weekend could see a swarm of new January Transfer Window recruits make their debuts. The most tantalising prospect is arguably Manchester City’s new towering target man, Edin Dzeko, who looks set to feature heavily against Wolves. Other new signings include Roque Santa Cruz’s return to Blackburn, Wayne Bridge looking to bolster West Ham’s backline, Tottenham’s forgotten man David Bentley striving to revive his career at Birmingham, while Steve Sidwell is in a comparable position as he prepares for his Fulham debut.

Elsehwere, Andy Carroll has been ruled out of Sunday’s derby with Sunderland leaving Leon Best and Shola Ameobi to fight it out for a place in the Newcastle attack. Manchester United look set to welcome back Wayne Rooney, Nemanja Vidic and Edwin Van Der Sar as they take on a Beckham-less Tottenham side, who have announced Gareth Bale as match fit. Wojciech Szczesny will start at West Ham for Arsenal after Lukasz Fabianski was ruled out of Saturday’s game. David Silva is still touch and go for Manchester City and will find out later today if he will make their squad.

All the latest, breaking reports are available on our fresh and up-to-date Team News page. Tweets are also constantly flying in, so keep an eye on those too.

    Kingson Simpson Cleverley Carroll

With Carroll & Cleverley out I'm thinking now of changes in prep for the doubles, here's my options:

    1) Stick & save the transfer
    2) Cole & Cleverley -> Nzog & Hangeland (-4)
    3) Other?

really surprised at the lack of chelsea players on show for tomorrow, obviously there's rotation risk, but surely at home against blackburn, lampard could crack in a couple? i could see them getting 5 IMO

Which one, planning wc on wk 25:
    Konchy to Hangeland
    Konchy to Huth
    Torres to Drogs

Then bring rooney next week. Getting rid of konchy will involve then benching either rafael/coleman/kolarov

      OR
Save the transfer, and next week do
      Varney/Fabs to Rooney/6.6mid

Then I'd have torres/tevez/rooney for wk 24, and can bring fabs back with the wildcard.. Would only lose .1M on fabs

Okay dont laugh at me, but how does a differential work?
I kinda understand it, like having carroll from the outset and his price rise is seen as a differential right? but then how is that used to help?
It increases squad value but when i transfer out carroll I only get how much i originally paid for him?

Differential – A word used to describe a player that is selected by a low percentage of fantasy managers or perhaps your fiercest rival in your mini-league. This tactic is often used when a fantasy manager is trying to catch-up in a mini-league.

nah you get around half the increase value back.
say you bought at 6.2 and his price is now 6.4, you'd get 6.3 back when sold.

They make an insane amount of transfers to get the top squad values, it's a seperate game to them.

To maximise squad value only sell when you have an even digit rise (if price goes up 0.4 or 0.5 since you bought them you only gain 0.2, if it goes to 0.6 then you get 0.3) and try and buy when their price is about to rise not just after it has.

If you see a total squad value of 109m and they did a wildcard they may only have around 106m to spend on players if they have lots of equity tied up in people like Nani, Carroll, Nasri, VDV etc.

Ah i get what you're saying, so, for example, getting dzeko today and him scoring a hattrick today, thats increase squad value and he is a differential?

No it simply means a point of difference. That is choosing a player that very few others have that may give you the chance to make up some points on your rivals as they won't have that player. E.g rodallega, or Jerome

    Need help
    Drogba – Unsure if starting
    Konchesky – Gone
Carroll – Out for 2 weeks

Would it be wise to use my 2 free transfers this week?
    Foster (Carson)
    Coleman, Carr, Kolarov (Vidic, Konchesky)
    Nasri Nani VDV Etherington Adam
    Tevez Drogba (Carroll)

    Have 1.8 in the bank

    (Fabianski Carson)
    Rafael Huth Bardsley (Konchesky, Evatt)
    Nani Nasri Adam Brunt VdV
    Tevez Drogba (Carroll)

I was thinking Carson to Stockdale (has double next week)
Also, is there any sense in swapping Konchesky to Skrtel (also has double next week) and benching Rafael?

Stockdale is definitely the right keeper choice IMO.
I wouldn't waste the transfer on swapping Liverpool defenders. Although Everton don't score a lot anything could happen in the derby. If you're just swapping them over for the sake of the DGW save the transfer and see if Liverpool are just as sh*t next week.

Is Robbie Keane going to be a threat to Cameron Jerome's weekly 90 minute comedy show?

"Wide of the goal/Over the bar" by Jerome, has been the only entertaining thing about Birmingham this season.

Panstil is much better value then Hangeland.

1.2 million is a big gamble for a goal.
