The troubled cloud hanging over Stamford Bridge provides an uninviting backdrop for all of this morning’s major dilemmas.

Fantasy Managers who have clung on to their Chelsea assets will have earmarked today’s home clash with Blackburn as yet another opportunity for the likes of Didier Drogba and Florent Malouda to come good. Heaven knows, I’ve chained Malouda to my squad for weeks in hope of a revival and, before this weeks’ mutterings from Carlo Ancelotti, I was willing to hold firm for one more week in hope of Rovers returns. Yesterday’s press conference and today’s follow-up articles have shaken that faith however…

Carlo Ancelotti has been sleeping on his team selection and the suggestion is that he’ll wake and with the conclusion that Drogba and maybe Essien and Malouda, need to make way. Significantly we’re seeing further reports this morning, not only in the press, but also on Chelsea’s official site, almost in preparation for a few teamsheet shocks.

In yesterday’s press gathering, Ancelotti clearly suggested that both Daniel Sturridge and Josh McEachran could get the nod in the starting lineup, possibly at the expense of Didier Drogba and Michael Essien. When asked on the chances of dropping two such senior players, the Italian didn’t hesitate…

“Yes, why not? My job is to choose the best team to play the game. Maybe sometimes there are some players who are not in the best condition to play.”

It is also suggested by reports that Florent Malouda’s starting role is in doubt after a period of prolonged tepid form that has seen fall from grace as a Fantasy prospect. Having been rested for the FA Cup tie with Ipswich however, he would seem well placed to regain his place against Rovers.

Certainly McEachran looks set to play alongside him however. Ancelotti gave every indication that he will start today’s game…

“McEachran is ready to start in the Premier League and is doing really well. He has confidence, personality and is strong.”

Sadly for Fantasy Managers, the Chelsea boss was less decisive when it came to discussing Drogba’s situation…

“Maybe Didier [Drogba] lost some confidence when he had malaria so it was difficult for him to play at his best and I think every player has a personal reason to explain this. The important thing is that we can have a difficult moment but we have to be able to move on quickly.”

It’s unclear then whether Drogba will be given the opportunity to face the Blackburn defence, a back four that includes the muscular Chris Samba who will surely relish the battle against the off-form Ivorian.

I certainly didn’t fancy any of Chelsea’s attacking assets when it came to last night’s Scout Picks. The uncertainty surrounding today’s Stamford Bridge lineup was enough for me to look beyond both Drogba and Malouda, despite the promise of returns against a Rovers rearguard that can be most obliging on its travels. Frank Lampard is certainly the safest option if you want to back a convincing home win – his role at set-plays could be vital and our Members can see for themselves just how Lampard has slotted back in and provided an immediate goal threat from midfield.

As usual, I look to the Saturday morning papers for some extra clarity on the situation. The predicted lineups can’t agree but, in the main, they suggest that Ancelotti will keep faith with his proven stars.

The Sun hand Drogba a start up front with no place for Sturride, although McEachran is a predicted starter for Essien in midfield. Malouda keeps his place in their lineup. The Guardian meanwhile, goes the other way – Essien starts but Sturridge comes in for Drogba up front. Both the Times and Telegraph however, back Ancelotti to start with the experience of Essien and Drogba.

Malouda is included in every one of this morning’s lineups – again, backing my theory that he will start, regardless of form. Perhaps the biggest guarantee of that is the fact that I’ve finally sold him on. Malouda will play and score then I imagine.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

I think it's time to forget about rank and worry about my money league, 15 GW's to go it's time to catch up and take over for the last home run. Only 13 points to take back so have concentrated on nullingy main rival and ended up with stronger remainder, eg Fabregas vs Nasri, VDV
    Vs Bale etc.

Anyways, Tevez el capitan this week. Was going to be Drogba but too risky.

    Good luck all.

is boateng nailed on for tomorrow with Richards out?

    LB: kolarov/ zabaleta
    RB: Richards/ Boateng

is that right? or do they swap a bit?
Im still mullin over my freebie,
definitely losing konchesky but can decide who has to come in for one week
    1. huth, safe choice
    2. bosingwa, great attacking potential, will he be in the mood, is his place in 11 assured (jamsie, no, guardian, no) (cfcf yes, mark, yes, matty yes)
    3. boateng , i already have kolarov, but he may not play so would a sneaky punt on boateng be a good move?
    4. zabaleta made it into the differential picks, but is boateng not likely to start?

or risk it all on the eyebrow…

    or play it safe

hmm i dont like playing it safe

You ever get the feeling you did the wrong moves when next morning arrives (I guess even after pressing the confirmation button)? I got Fabs & Nzog in and planning to get ManU striker in for Drog next week... which will leave me with a terrible selection headache...
Worst is my DEF is sh*te - today playing Kol, Rafael, Konch (I know) but quite happy with Enrique and Evatt as subs (should I play them over Konch? no chance he's start?)... and funny to see I'm torn between Drog & Campbell on bench... oh dear FPL gods, be kind and gimme a little green arrow.

Dont think Dzeko will be starting guys...

"New signing Edin Dzeko may have to wait to make his first start for Manchester City when they host Wolves on Saturday. (kick-off 15.00 GMT)

Dzeko has completed his move from German side Wolfsburg, with the fee believed to be around £27m, but the Bosnian is not 100% match fit and is unlikely to start."

your defence is pretty weak but your midfield and forwards look very good

personally i wouldn't touch djourou, salgado or stockdale i think there's better out there for the same money or for even cheaper in defences that keep more clean sheets, depends if you want them short or long-term though i suppose

Am I crazy considering using my transfer this week for Brunt instead of Fabregas (can afford both when Gerrard out)?

    Jaask (Robinson)

Coleman - Kolarov - Rafael (Kyrgiakos, Simpson)

Nani - Nasri - Adam - VDV (Gerrard)

    Tevez - Bent - (K.Davies)

Will probably use my WC next gameweek. Would do 8 transfers if I used it now, maybe I should, but I've been so patient with it for two weeks it'd feel kinda bad.

drop rafeal of your defenders, or nolan

it even helps just to have him as backup as kolarob might not play

with richards out i can see boateng gettign the start and the right, and as zabaleta was rested against leicester, i think he may be likely to come in
altho marks articles seem to suggest zabaleta and kolarov will be playing. not sure why

          ferreira has played
          90-60-1-56-0
          bosingwa has played
          0-30-90-34-90
in the last 5 so its really hard to know whats going on there. the only positive is blackburn are crap, so ancelotti can likely afford to play the more attacking player, bosingwa,

all in all, i dont know

boateng at the moment im thinking

I wanted to captain Drogba but now he isn't 100% certain to start, I'm considering choosing Tevez (c) instead...

Who would you pick between them?

imo its always risky having 2 players from the same team in the same position.

If that team fails you are doubley screwed, additionally if they do well you probably need a haul for both to score well.

I currently have bale and VDV, only on the basis that VDV plays as a striker, that said i wont be keeping Bale for much longer.

Fabs is the better option imo, but atm he comes at a price particularly with good options elswhere with upcoming DGW's
