A night of FA Cup replays saw the Premier League second-string get another run-out. When Man City are involved however, there’s no such thing as fringe players, as Mancini rotated riches to re-establish David Silva’s marriage with Carlos Tevez to devastating effect; a plucky Leicester City the latest to come out worst in another goal-strewn Eastlands encounter…

Roberto Mancini suggested that he’d make changes to his City lineup for the replay with Leicester and so it proved. Kolo Toure, Nigel De Jong, Edin Dzeko, and Gareth Barry all dropped out for this one with Joleon Lescott, James Milner, David Silva, and Patrick Vieira all handed starts. Interestingly, Mancini left his full-backs untouched as both Pablo Zabaleta and Aleksandar Kolarov held their starting roles – that might suggest that the Italian has now decided on this pairing as his first choice – the lineup for the Villa game should reveal more on that.

David Silva made a return to the starting lineup then after earning a recall to the bench in Saturday’s win over Wolves. Silva showed his class in the first-half with a pinpoint pass to feed Adam Johnson; the England man duly dispatched City’s second from 18-yards to send a further message to his manager but, in truth, Johnson should have notched further goals and made a bigger statement. Silva meanwhile ended the game with two assists and looks assured for a starting role at Villa.

Carlos Tevez started then when perhaps this seemed a timely occasion to hand him a rest. The City skipper didn’t take long to show his qualities however, blasting home a rasping volley to give the home side the lead on 15 minutes. The night then took a twist for Tevez as he conspired to miss his second consecutive penalty after the break. Tevez also fluffed from 12-yards in the recent win over Blackpool and there’s now every possibility that he could surrender spot-kick duties in the league. A slight concern for buoyant Tevez owners.

Kolarov delivered the goal he has been threatening in the league by sealing City’s win with a 20-yard effort late on. His owners will hope that that strike will be enough to cement his start for the trip to Villa Park, although it must be considered that, with Villa’s wide men such a threat, Mancini may opt for Micah Richards or Jerome Boateng at right-back, with the reliable Zabaleta switching to the left.

Indeed, Mancini spent much of his post-match analysis picking apart his team’s defending, suggesting that he will surely shake-up his back four again at Villa.

“It’s great – but only for the supporters! I’d enjoy it if we scored four goals and did not concede any, but every time it’s two goals, three goals. We must improve…If you keep conceding in each game, you will get to the moment when you don’t score enough to win. Because of this, we have to improve.”

Wolves’ 5-0 demolition in front of a paltry 10,000 at Molineux provided some respite from their Premeir League struggles. Mick McCarthy was able to welcome back Jody Craddock and Karl Henry following lengthy injury lay-offs, they came into the starting lineup at the expense of Christophe Berra and Nenad Milijas. The changes didn’t end there as Marcus Hahnemann replaced Wayne Hennessey in goal, while Steven Mouyokolo and Geoffrey Mujangi Bia came in for Stephen Ward and Matt Jarvis; Mouyokolo took up a role at left-back. McCarthy will likely shuffle again for the home clash with Liverpool this weekend – Henry and Craddock will be expected to keep their starting roles which may well see Berra or Richard Stearman at the back, and Milijas in midfield, miss out.

Wolves will face Stoke City in the fourth round – they came through their replay with Cardiff with the aid of extra-time. Jonathan Walters grabbed both the goals for Tony Pulis’ men.

The Stoke boss made no less than 10 changes to the side that inflicted defeat on Bolton at the Britannia. The inclusion of Mamady Sidibe on the bench was perhaps the most notable – Pulis is a big fan of the lofty striker and we can expect him to figure in league matches over the next month. Ironically, the only player who retained his starting role – Danny Higginbotham, picked up an injury and was forced off on 10 minutes – he will be a doubt for the trip to Fulham with Danny Collins likely to return to the league lineup if he fails to make it.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

    regards djourou

On January 11, Arsène Wenger said the defender will be out for “two to three weeks”. “Squillaci will be out for a maximum of three weeks, minimum two. It is a hamstring injury but it is not too bad - a grade one. He’ll be back in two weeks if all goes well.” He was ruled out of the FA Cup Third-Round replay against Leeds.

Berbs isn't a ridiculous shout for captain, I just think Nani's a better bet. Bale to Dempsey is also a reasonable idea, but I wouldn't be benching Nasri home to Wigan - Dzeko or (heresy!) VDV on the bench for me.

Ive had that team during the week, but I keep on asking myself who to bench?

Assuming the double gw players are all in your starting line up, it means one of fab/rvp/vdv/tevez needs to be benched. Who?

Coleman might get more vs Wham then Skrtel/paintsil in a double gw.

    Right decision made:
Cole Cleverley Drogba -> Hangeland Dempsey Rooney
    Gives:

    Kingson*
    Vidic* Skrtel* Hangeland*
    Nani* Adam* Dempsey* Nasri VdV
    Rooney* Torres*

    Foster Carroll Simpson Bardsley

Then I can keep the same the exact side for 25 and WC 26.

I don't have VDV and haven't had him for weeks, Bale is my cheaper coverage for him. So not only will I take responsibility, the outcome for me will be exactly the same.

Just like I "wanted" rvp last week(and did not trsfr him in!) i WANT Rooney this week.

I have made up my mind I can't sell Tevez(Paid 10.4m) so to have a front 3 of Tevez/Rooney/Rvp it means I won't get in a ManU def. Which is fine as I can see them conceding vs BP anyway.

Im left with 4.8m to spend on the 5th midfield spot. Do i get someone like Watson/Albrighton/davies and play them in their double gw and bench VDV? Or do I just get Morrisson and bench him(WBA have double in gw 27)and bank the balance?

Rafael owners - who are you shipping the young Brazilian out for? Id only just brought him in off the back of a WC for United's DGW and his attacking potential. Can only really afford Ferdinand now to replace him as a solid, guaranteed starter but Rio obviously relies purely on the cleanie. Or are people dropping the United defencive coverage and looking elsewhere?

i have konch bardsley and simpson. Do I start one or take a 4 point hit konch->hughes? Since pool play the early match I could confirm konch doesnt start (not that i think he would but it would help justify the transfer) Of the other cheap DGW defender options, Fulham defenders have the only desirable fixture the following week(NEW), which is key considering i have coleman away to arsenal and bardsley home to chelsea.
The other option is to replace konch for Kelly, pool host stoke the following week but i already have Reina and im trying to get rid of pool rather than add.

He's cack, lazy and should only play one of the two games in Utd's doubler.

Granville: How long does it take to do a podcast? I'm assuming there's a script of sorts, followed by editing.

    Maybe 4-5 hours total?

I'm just thinking a regular scoutcast is definitely something Mark needs to aim for if he wants to grow the site.

And obviously I know your busy, but I think it should remain centered around you and Mark TBH.

Hi Soop. Yeah, it takes about 3-4 hours in total. The issue is the record time. Right now we like to use the studio - that means scheduling the recording during the day when we have access to the studio. If something comes up or I fall behind with a regular (team news is behind, Watchlist not updated etc) then the ScoutCast gets sacrificed.

It's often a straight choice - maintain the meat and drink of the site - the regular stuff that provide the backbone of our content, or record a ScoutCast.

Maybe I'm getting it wrong but if the Watchlist is a fortnight old or the team news doesn't get updated until Friday (when you'll find it on other sites), I get a little less inclined to duck into the studio to spend an hour in Granville's company.

    Kingson (Hart)
    Vidic | Skrtel | Hughes
    VdV | Nani | Fabregas | Adam | N'Zogbia
    RVP | Berbatov
Sub: Coleman | Konchesky | Carroll

Obviously for Batman "The Long Halloween" and "The Killing Joke" are ones you have probably read and are awesome. "Batman: Year One" is a one of my favourites along with "The Dark Knight Returns", both are Frank Miller and are gorgeous to look at.

While I have read a whole bunch of Batman ones, I haven't read a whole lot more bar "Sin City: That Yellow B*stard" and "Wolverine" by Frank Miller (ya, I like Frank Miller), any "Preacher" graphic novels, one called something "Americans", that's all I can think of off the top of my head
