Arsene Wenger has today confirmed Wojciech Szczesny as Arsenal’s number one keeper.

Speaking ahead of the FA Cup tie with Huddersfield on Sunday, the Arsenal boss praised the performances of the Pole and stated that he had no plans to drop him permanently from his starting lineup, despite the return of Manuel Almunia to Sunday’s squad, although he did hint at rotation for the Cup encounter.

“At the moment Wojciech is number one…He has done nothing for me to take him out, but I can rotate the goalkeepers.”

Fantasy Managers will immediately be put on alert as a result of this statement. It was expected that Lukasz Fabianski would automatically return to Arsenal’s starting XI once he has recovered from his shoulder injury; that no longer appears to be the case.

Szczesny is now clearly first choice and the role is his to lose. If he goes on impressing, there’s every reason to suspect that he could hold down starts for the coming Gameweeks – that includes Arsenal’s attractive Emirates double fixture in Gameweek 27.

The 20-year old stopper is valued at just 4.5 in the Fantasy Premier League game and offers very strong value for a defence that has kept 4 consecutive clean sheets in the league. The only downside to drafting in Szczesny, which also applies to Johan Djourou (4.2) in defence, is that his selections uses up one of three slots that can be filled with Arsenal’s wealth of attacking talent.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Guys, what is the best defence (i.e. 5 defenders and 2 keepers) for 34m?

    My current plan is:

    Szczesny Begovic
    Coleman Hutton Rafael Kelly R.Johnson

    Any suggestions?

well you should consider Djourou in your defense lineup because he is cheap at the moment.

Been a while since I did one of these posts so here goes…. (Again)

    Foster Jaask
    Vidic Kelly Kolarov (Kelly, Salcido)
    Nani VDV Nasri Adam (Cleverley)
    Torres Bent Rooney

0.6 in the bank. RVP? Is he essential for the next two gameweeks? I don’t think he is personally. So was thinking perhaps Vidic -> 6.0m defender and Cleverley -> Walcott, yes, he is a rotation risk but we will know this week at least… Any Other suggestions? Help greatly, greatly aprreciated.

Have Torres/Rooney and DJ myself, am WC'ing next week so am tempted to leave Rooney but then another 2 pointer would be most annoying for his value.

Why are you taking Vidic out this week?

Plus, what makes you think Arsenal are going to do well against Everton, Everton always do well in the big games. Plus alot depends on when you plan to WC, I am planng on doing Nasri OUT this week and taking punt on Kakuta or Brunt.

I don't like your moves but can't think of many other ones to be honest.

        Thanks to begin with Johnny.

        I am wildcarding GW27.

I am getting rid of Vidic to raise funds. I can't afford Brunt, but the main emphasis is so that I don't have to play Bent Vs Man U, perhaps Cleverley -> Kakuta?

I also want more Arsenal coverage than the ineffective Nasri.

Been #2 in my minileague with 40 people for ages now, but lost more ground on the leader after last gw(Had Rooney over Berbatov).

Is it totally crazy to transfer Torres, Carroll and Rafael out for Berbatov, RVP and Simpson for an 8 point hit?

Would give me a front eight of:

    Fabs Adam Nani VDV (N'Zog)
    Rooney Berb RVP

Yes. Torres->Berba maybe but definitely not for a hit. RVP wont get last weeks haul against Everton. Wait and see on Rafael if he is fit to play next GW.

Just feeling kinda desperate. Fabio said to a Brazilian paper that Rafael would be out for about two weeks. I am abit afraid that Berbatov will have another Old Trafford screamer against Villa, so if I want to avoid hits I would have to do Rooney->Berbs.

Maybe downgrade Fabs to a 7.9 midfielder and do Carroll - VP for a hit? Or just stay away? Damn, this game gives me headaches somethimes.

      Save it.

3.9m defenders aren't supposed to play.

Think about it. You're playing 3 defenders every week and you have 5. More than likely, one player will sit out every game. You can rotate fine with 4 decent defenders. Choose a starter who can come in in case of emergency, then just leave him as last sub or play him in double fixtures. That's why I went with Simpson over Murphy, a more guaranteed starter, but at present, it's hardly going to matter since he'll be bench sitting almost every week. You're going to need those transfers later on to maximize returns in GW 27 and 28.

Your team has 13/15 of my players. You'll do fine as long as you don't rush your transfers and plan ahead carefully.

A patent is 7 bets: 3 singles 3 doubles and 1 treble on 3 selections, a Trixie is 4 bets: 3 doubles 1 treble also on 3 selections. Unless you're planning on fairly big prices a Patent is too many bets and you'd be better with a higher stake trixie for the same total money.

I remember those days, I would love to see it for one more day, I remember that bit too, nothing else. Forgot the general layout. Anyone remember the tested site where you could rate peoples comments?

It's being reported that Ajax and Liverpool have a deal concerning Suarez, for 25 million or so (euro's).

Striker, 2nd striker or on a wing. He hasn't played much lately though because he was suspended for the last 7 matches.

Torres has been the most clinical striker since signing for Liverpool in 2007, he's put away 22% of his chances! If he joins Chelsea what a strikeforce that is going to be.
