Now the gameweek begins and just like that the hulking Saturday Surgery regresses into it’s much less fearsome Bruce Bana-esque Dugout Discussion. Come in if you fancy, we’ve certainly got more than enough games to keep you interested.

We kick off with Stoke playing host to Sunderland this afternoon, a war of attrition looking likely. Tony Pulis recalls the likes of Matty Etherington and Long-throw Delap into his team while Steve Bruce looks like he might be following suit at Liverpool by countering Stoke’s aerial threat with three centre-halves. Sulley Muntari also makes his debut. Teams in full are…

Stoke XI: Begovic; Higginbotham, Wilkinson, Huth, Shawcross; Delap, Pennant, Whitehead, Etherington; Jones, Carew.

Sunderland XI: Gordon; Onuoha, Ferdinand, Mensah, Bramble (C), Bardsley; Richardson, Henderson, Muntari, Sessegnon; Gyan.

The heavy dose of Saturday football doesn’t end there as we then head on into six 3pm kick-offs and just about round out my Fantasy Premier League (FPL) gameweek before it even starts with ten of my eleven finished by 5pm – the likes of Man City vs West Brom, Everton vs Blackpool and Newcastle vs Arsenal are high on my agenda, who are you tracking?

Then we have Manchester United rounding us out as they pay visit to Mick McCarthy and his Premier League stragglers. Time to watch through my fingers.

The Dugout Discussion will be open through all eight of today’s games right up until the bonus judges hand out their bounty this evening. Stick with us.

Andy Leicester won the Premier League. Leicester. Premier League. What is this life? Follow them on Twitter

Phew, no clean sheet for Bardsley, fed up with him getting loads of points sitting on my bench. Cue 80th minute screamer from the defensive minded right back playing at left back...

Bardsley owners are too lucky. He's got no right to be scoring as well as he has been.

I don't think that Huth will lose it though, it isn't at all clear cut either way. Now they've given, I doubt it will be changed.

Usually, but I think Redknapp had a good shout last year, getting Spurs into Europe. I think he did win the PL manager of the year, and Hodgson won the LMA one (which also counts Europe).

Not that I think Redknapp is a great manager, but he had a great year.

You're on. If they wouldn't scratch Seamus's, they won't scratch that one. If they actually gave a shit about getting things right, then I'd be less confident. But they're more concerned with trying not to change their points awards.

Nah saw it from another angle.

Huth definitely heads it on, but it might just have hit Shawcross's arm.

I think it'll stay as an assist, unfortunately.

Not that simple. Last season Cuellar got the last faint touch on a Young corner before someone else scored. It ended up as a Young assist. Also Anelka got the last faint touch on a Terry header, which should have made it a Terry assist and an Anelka goal. Terry got the goal.

There's no simple rule that says last touch by the attacking team's player equals an assist.

but earlier this season, Ashley Young got the faintest of touches on an Albrighton cross and he got the assist, so I hope the CORRECT decision is made.

He changed the direction of the ball noticeably though, right? Shawcross just accidentally handballs it without seeming to change the direction.

The right decision has been made. Huth heads to Carew, Carew scores. Huth's assist.

It rolls down after hitting Huth/Gordon and definitely comes off Shawcross' chest/arm.

100% a Shawcross assist. The final angle on Sky made it completely obvious.

An assist shouldn't be only detectable by watching 100 different angle replays in 0.001x speed to see if it shaves an atom off a players shoelace and changes the direction a millinoth of a degree. Huth won the header, it fell to Carew, who scored. It should be a Huth assist

Thing with the Assist is.. Huth heads it, it brushes Shawcross's hand. IF they give it to Shawcross they are basically saying that Shawcross hand balled it. I don't think the press association will undermine the ref by doing that.

to conclude I think Huth will keep it

F*ck that! Do you really think that FPL give a shit about 'undermining the ref'?!

In that case, do you think that they'll delete Carew's goal too? Or else it might embarrass Probert?

      Ridiculous comment Foch.

the difference is the goals given so the press association aren't going to "delete" a goal are they? moron

but if they give it to Shawcross they are basically saying that he handballed it.. i don't think they'd do that..

        ridiculous response jammy

But FPL can change things after looking at them, even if the Press Association don't change it themselves.

only really happens on things like assists from posts/saves/penalties where the FPL rules give additional assists

      looks like a torn rag

if an engllish girl was wearing that you'd all be calling her a slag

Whoever's in charge of the wardrobe on that show needs a kick up the backside. You can clearly see the tape that is holding the dress onto her boobs. If you're going to use the tape make sure you can't see it... better still don't use any tape 🙂

OK, wildcard now in play folks!

Fist point of business, bringing in Begovic, Kelly, Nolan, Djourou, Bardsley and Van Persie. All look like they'll rise tonight so may be on my way to earning some money.

    Lovely.

Football betting (in the left-hand column) > football matches > Premier League > scroll down to Wolves v Man U, click on 'more bets' > match specials (click 'show'). Then bet on Wolves to score no goals, 10/11.

There might be a quicker way...
