The comes a time when even the greatest generals lay down their weapons and accept their “day of defeat”. Hannibal at Zama, Napoleon at Waterloo, and now Mark at Eastlands.

I know for sure after a couple of retrospective days, he’ll dust himself down and prepare for the next Gameweek. There’s nothing more dangerous than a wounded animal and what could be better than a double Gameweek to help the rehabilitation.

According to Mark, having got wind of his selection in my wildcard squad, Luka Modric laughed so hard he burst his appendix, making that the first time my bandwagon was derailed by an internal organ.

Fabregas signs his own midweek game sicknote; in his mother’s handwriting. So he’s finally transferred himself into his own Fantasy team and we about to see why he’s been holding back these last few weeks. Well that’s the theory.

Off to the island we travel with Nikola “Gulliver” Zigic, our very own coconut picker. Mark’s bringing the rum, and with my cheapo cartons of Asda value pineapple juice, we’ve got our very own Pina Colada on tap. If it looks like the heavy cargo is going to sink us we can always jettison the flotsam, or in order words chuck out Darren Bent.

Up for discussion this episode is the Manchester derby and the perils of Gameweek 28, while the debate of Charlie’s 8 or 9 yellows gets put to bed.

Oh and by the way, please accept our apologies for the “playful shenanigans” at the start of last week’s podcast. We were unaware that our microphones were hooked up and if any offense was caused, it was purely intentional.

who knows. top pros seem incapable of playing more than a couple of games in a row these days without collapsing with exhaustion or knicker twist.

yeah, he probably won't play both and it will probably cost winger and the gooners any chance at the title.

but at least he won't be tired.

I have 7 doublers, I'm expecting one or two of them not to complete their double. It happens every time. Last DGW it was Kingson and Clark for me, both injured in the first game.

Cheers for the opinions on VDV. I'll have to see tomorrow. I think he's quite likely to only get about 60 minutes in the Sunderland game what with Milan looming but can't see why he wouldn't play against Blackpool (assuming he is fit of course!) AND THAT IS THE GAME I REALLY WANT HIM FOR

Poor eld Hannibal wasn't half stitched up by the dodgy Carthaginian politicians though. Not that it did them much good. Looking forward to the podcast tomorrow though 🙂

This Young versus Tevez versus Nani versus VdV thing is a right pain. I have to bench one of them, originally it was going to be Young, but now I'm thinking he might be on a high after his good showing for England so Tevez is on the bench.

Probably change my mind a good few more times before the deadline though.

          I know man but

Tevez, VDV and Young are all on pens and the latter two are both playing blackpool.

Essentially your choice is Tevez v Nani and given the same dilemma ive opted for Tevez

fwiw, Ladbrokes are giving the lowest odds to a 1-0 ManU win or a 1-1 draw. So it looks low scoring and I reckon Nani has the better chance of more points. Will prob bench Tevez myself.

With the vdv penalty retake, it actually cost captain owners 14 points, just for for 1 penalty miss! (ie. would have 10 points for the goal, but get -4 for the miss, difference of 14!). Ouch.

but then i dont know who to bench
i need to catch 105 point leader!
    thank youuussss!!

    foster (begovic)
    djourou coleman kolarov Clark Kelly
    VDV Adam Nani Fabregas Young
    RVP Wingie Tevez

if i do djourou>RJ, then i am thinking of benching begovic vdv Clark and Coleman. Sounds good? Or should i play vdv over nani?

Is it just me or is the most obvious gameweek ever?? Everybody seems to have the same team roughly this....

    Foster
    Johnson/Huth/Djourou(Coleman/Kolarov)
    VDV/Fabs(or Walcott)/Young(or Cahill)/Adam/(Nani)
    RVP/Tevez/Odemwingie

I am pretty close to that, and have a felling its all going to go wrong!!
RVP still on antibiotics is not a good sign
    Adam 1 yellow and out
Fabs 59 minutes of nada, then rested
    Brum two 1-1 draws
    Huth 2x 1 pointers

wish I could take a punt...have a feeling its the DGW of Arshavin, as he may play both and miss the Barca game?

dbronaldo snared me earlier when I was moaning on twitter... Although I actually quite like arguing with him, so I'm not complaining too much.

The deal is that Forest Green have banned all red meat from the stadium, because the new owner is an eco-loving, egotistical maniac, and presumably wants some sort of publicity - good or bad. I vented my displeasure on twitter and dbronaldo was straight in with all this nutritional bullshit about the health risks with eating red meat, and how 'if it (the ban) helps 1 person learn more it will have done good'...

        He's loony.

He is always reasonably polite, but endlessly argues to the point you want to beat your laptop off the wall.
You try walking away and then he declares himself to have 'won' if you don't respond. I try not to get dragged in but occasionally it is so damned entertaining, for about three posts anyway and then that's you stuck for a 500 post circuitous argument about nothing.

That's it, he's always trying to points score against you. e.g I said such and such player was good and hey look he's just had a good game and I told you so.

Odem is playing the two bottom teams, is in reasonable form and may enjoy a boost from a new manager. DJ is playing two better teams, who'll be hungry to attack the Blackpool defense and hog possession as much as they can, he's slumped in form a bit, and as you say he's got more competition.

    Ok who to bench??
Got a freebie, but was trying to save it for next week. Possible singles for Adam/VDV/RVP/Djourou are really throwing me!

    Foster/(Begovic)
    Djourou/Ridgewell/Huth/Walker/Coleman
    Fabs(c)/Nani/VDV/Adam/Young
    RVP/Tevez/Odemwingie

Nani Walker Coleman, Nani first sub Each of your possible ones can still score as many points. Have you found out if Adam is 8or9 yellows?

Well I believe he is on 8, and it will come out if he has to serve a ban I guess. Need him for 28 really!

My bench is exactly as you say at the moment, just worried VDV may not play at all, but then I guess sub comes in.

Walker @ Blackpool is in my thoughts due to atacking potential v a poor defence, but I guess no CS for sure.

Walcott going up tonight most likely.

Unless it's bad news from the Spurs camp tomorrow I'm holding onto VDV. For a few reasons:

    A) If he doesn't feature I've got Nani sat on the bench
    B) I'll lose more cashish than I'd like if I sold him
    C) If he's likely to feature against Bpool the returns could be devestating.

Me too, although reason C is the key one for me, plus he's just someone I want in my team if he's fit. But if they confirm he's out for a couple of weeks, I'm trading out and losing the money.

VDV is built like a brick sh*thouse and goal greedy, and will play if at all possible. + your A,B,andC + it'll probably cost another 4pts to get him back in.

VDV is built like a paper aeroplane actually, but his returns, even if off at half time are awesome for the price and in midfield

This has nothing to do with anything really but for next year it would be good fun to set up a team league. Say 2-5 players on each team, to decide transfers and plans together. Could be good fun and good... banter.

Enjoying the idea of having Leon Cort transferred into your team then I suppose Jamsiep, I reckon he'd be a nightmare to team up with.

Can't believe he quit playing really. If I was him I'd be more determined than ever to get another decent finish to show it was not all luck. Now he'll mostly be remembered for his insane luck.

It's a good idea, but do you not think the teams would be end up being fairly similar? Genuine differentials would cease to exist as you'd struggle to convince 4 others that it's the right thing to do....

          That's a real possibility I suppose 🙁

I feel personally it could be great fun to pick a differential on here for that team and follow with a few others though. I always love it when I find that someone else on here has made a similar punt as me on a crazy player.
