Everton put in a miserable shift at the Reebok, drawing scorn from manager David Moyes and casting doubt over the Fantasy interest that will escalate in their squad ahead of a double Gameweek. Foch’s Knee Jerk last night told the tale of Bolton’s 2-0 win but, with the dust settled, here are the Scout Notes on Sunday’s solitary fixture…

Owen Coyle kept the same starting XI that were unfortunate to slip to a narrow 2-1 defeat at White Hart Lane. That meant that Johan Elmander once again lined up on the right of midfield, as Daniel Sturridge looked to feed off of Kevin Davies up front. The partnership clicked again and Sturridge duly delivered his third Bolton goal in as many appearances. Elmander’s role is keeping Chung-Yong Lee on the bench – a problem for Coyle who watched as Lee came off the bench to spark the Sturridge goal.

That strike followed a first goal of the season for Gary Cahill who collected a double figure FPL return for the first time this term. Cahill and Bolton have now kept consecutive home clean sheets having shut-out Wolves in Gameweek 25.

Sturridge’s potential is somewhat tempered by the fact that Bolton now face three trips on the road in the next four at Newcastle, United and Birmingham. At just 5.2 in the FPL however, the Chelsea loanee is crying out as a third striker option now that the clamour for double Gameweek strikers has diminished.

Everton lined up without their Blackpool four-goal hero Louis Saha who has been sidelined for two-weeks with hamstring injury. David Moyes recalled Tim Cahill to the starting XI to compensate, the Aussie making his first start since his return from the Asia Cup. Jack Rodwell also missed out – he is sidelined for at least a month with a groin injury. Victory Anichebe also came in to the lead the attack then as Moyes went with a 4-5-1. John Heitinga continued in defence as Phil Jagielka again had to be content with a place on the bench.

David Moyes rated Sunday’s performance as amongst the worst is his reign as manager. An alarming state of affairs given his side’s comeback against Blackbpool at Goodison just over a week ago. Everton missed the quality of Saha up front, but also appeared to lack the appetite for a battle and Bolton outfought them in all areas across the pitch. For Fantasy Managers the nature of the defeat casts doubt over Everton’s assets at a time when their potential looks strong with four home matches in the next five, including their Gameweek 29 double fixture (SUN new&BIR FUL AVL)

Regardless of Everton’s performance and the fact that he missed a gilt-edged opportunity to earn his side a foothold, Tim Cahill will remain a key transfer target. The Aussie alternated with Mikel Arteta in the support role for Anichebe up front for the early part of the game, before Moyes pushed Cahill further forward to chase an equaliser. Cahill’s goalscoring instincts will be expected to come good, particularly with Everton facing a run of consecutive home matches.

Leighton Baines and Seamus Coleman were picked out in Foch’s Knee Jerk last night and will also remain at the forefront of our thinking. Defensively however, we shouldn’t expect too much – Everton have kept just a single clean sheet in their last 18 games – that came against Wigan back in Gameweek 17. Baines was the one player to emerge from yesterday’s showing with any credit for Everton – his supply from the left was a threat and he, like Cahill, will be expected to come out of Everton’s run of opponents with some profit. At 7.5 however, Baines looks an expensive option, particularly with Coleman offering promise from his right-wing role for a fee of 5.2.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

My current team for GW28 before any confirmation surrounding Chelsea.

    Begovic
    Rafael Kelly Luiz Coleman
    Nani Adam A Young Brunt
    Tevez Berba

Bench - Foster Djourou Walcott RVP

Was thinking of doing Brunt > Nolan but also want to bring in Kolarov but not sure if its worth the hit or who for.

How should I approach this if

    a) Chelsea go through

    b) Chelsea get knocked out

Having gone from 141,000 to 23,000 in the last 4 weeks I am interested to see how much further back I slip with tonights match and having no one involved. I have 8 DGW's to come after this so it will be a little slip and back up again tomorrow night, but that being said, how many people have Chelsea and Fulham on here? I presume quite alot of casual players still have the likes of Drogba and Malouda and Cole, so I am hoping for a 1-2 with 2 own goals from Fulham, and a goal from Andy Johnson for Fulham

I'd be very surprised if many people in the top 50k have Drogba or Malouda (or A. Cole) - they wouldn't have survived many wildcards imo with so many doublers to choose from, and RVP and Tevez bagging the points.

Most of my proper rivals in my £ league cottoned on to the DGW though, so I won't lose ground where it counts. Anything you lose tonight you'd expect to gain back before the end of the GW.

However, I'm scared. I'm worried about what is going to happen. I've got Howard. I've brought in Nolan.

    Five ways Tottenham
    can beat AC Milan.....

    1. Niko can Bale out Spurs
If aliens landed on Earth in the
    days after Tottenham's victory
over Inter in the group stages,
    they'd have thought that Gareth
Bale was a stronger force than
gravity itself, such was the hype.
Yes the Welshman was brilliant in
    the two games against the
champions, but he is not the be
and end all of this stylish Spurs
    side.
While obviously his loss is a
huge blow, in Niko Kranjcar there
lies a replacement firing on all
    cylinders at the moment. The
    Croat has scored the two
    winning goals in Tottenham's
last two games and is playing
like a man determined to make
an impression after being put in
    the shop window in January.
Milan can not afford to think
they have the edge just because
Bale is out of this one.

    2. Drop Defoe and play
    positively
Not because he's a bad striker,
    but because it simply doesn't
make sense to play him from the
    off on his own.
At the San Siro, Redknapp surely
has to go for a five-man midfield
    with Sandro and Wilson Palacios
both holding down the fort in
the middle and Rafael van der
    Vaart linking midfield and attack
    while helping himself to the
    knockdowns and flick-ons of
    either Roman Pavlyuchenko or
    Peter Crouch.
Defoe's pace can be well utilised
from the bench, if needed, to test
    Alessandro Nesta, while
    encouraging Kranjcar and Aaron
Lennon to tuck inside and get to
    the byline respectively should
    ensure that Milan's midfield
    triumvirate have to drop deep
    and lose territory.

    3. Frustrate and stay close to
    Zlatan
    The Swede has been stunning
for the Serie A leaders, netting 18
    goals (some of them typically
    brilliant) this season.
    Technically outstanding and
packed with power, the man on
    loan from Barcelona must surely
be one of the most difficult
players to mark when on form.
But for all his footballing genius,
    Ibrahimovic can often allow the
reckless side of the mind to
    overtake the more cerebral.
If he can be forced off his game
    through a combination of tight
marking and a denial of service,
he could end up strutting around
like the cocky kid at school who
knows he's great but just won't
muck in when it gets a bit tough.
But even if he is off his game,
William Gallas must get close and
his partner in defence must be
alert to any deft flicks that can
    slip through Pato or Robinho.

    4. Exploit the absence of Pirlo
    and Van Bommel
    Neutrals ought to rue the
    absence of the brilliant Andrea
Pirlo as much as they should the
    underrated genius of Luka
    Modric.
    A deep-lying playmaker who
    possesses a Xavi-like composure
    and a Xabi Alonso-like passing
    range, there is no direct
    replacement for Massimiliano
    Allegri to call upon.
    Also missing will be winter
recruit – and Tottenham target –
    Mark van Bommel, who is
ineligible to play in Europe after
playing for Bayern earlier in the
    campaign. The hard-hitting but
    often unheralded enforcer will
    have fancied his chances against
    a Modric-less midfield.
Van der Vaart's natural instinct to
    play between the lines of
    midfield and defence should, up
    against the waning powers of
    Gennaro Gattuso and Mathieu
Flamini, open up chances for his
    team-mates and an away goal
could swing this one totally in
    Tottenham's favour, with Modric
expected to be fully fit for the
    return game.

I took out VDV for Nolan, this GW. 84 ppoints so far with ten players left this GW to play. Maybe Rooney next GW if man-u have a double and Cahill for Nolan. Nine million in the bank, any better ideas?

I think he's right, Spurs and Arsenal dont want to play because of the CL. They probably both want it at the end of the season.

spurs actually play the 15th, 22nd and 6th so im sure harry would see it as an ideal time to play arsenal seeing as arsenal have a fixture pile up

because by the time Arsenal beat Leyton Orient 9assuming we do), it'll be too short notice.

And neither side would want a game there, considering both are involved in Champions' league ties the following midweek.

if arsenal draw with orient they will have to sell tickets and make arrangements for that date so they can do exactly the same with the spurs arsenal game, in fact itd be easier as most the tickets would go to season ticket holders

there is a chance it could still be arranged for that date

I very much doubt it. Arsenal - Spurs is considered a big police risk event (or something like that). I think the police would rather wait and see if the game can be played on a weekend, or at least have a bit more time in advance to prepare.

maybe but it can be done

bristol city cardiff is considered high risk and was once organised within 2 weeks

i agree it is doubtful now but it may still happen

people taking arsenal and spurs players out already are a little premature i think

Nope. Think Begovic is still the better choice.

Worst case scenario, he gets dropped, you can straight swap to Sorensen.

Harper is too expensive at 4.5 considering you can get Simpson for 3.9.

Thanks all. Might just stick in that case. Harper's only 4.3, same as Begovic but I see Stoke as the more likely to keep CS.
