Everton put in a miserable shift at the Reebok, drawing scorn from manager David Moyes and casting doubt over the Fantasy interest that will escalate in their squad ahead of a double Gameweek. Foch’s Knee Jerk last night told the tale of Bolton’s 2-0 win but, with the dust settled, here are the Scout Notes on Sunday’s solitary fixture…

Owen Coyle kept the same starting XI that were unfortunate to slip to a narrow 2-1 defeat at White Hart Lane. That meant that Johan Elmander once again lined up on the right of midfield, as Daniel Sturridge looked to feed off of Kevin Davies up front. The partnership clicked again and Sturridge duly delivered his third Bolton goal in as many appearances. Elmander’s role is keeping Chung-Yong Lee on the bench – a problem for Coyle who watched as Lee came off the bench to spark the Sturridge goal.

That strike followed a first goal of the season for Gary Cahill who collected a double figure FPL return for the first time this term. Cahill and Bolton have now kept consecutive home clean sheets having shut-out Wolves in Gameweek 25.

Sturridge’s potential is somewhat tempered by the fact that Bolton now face three trips on the road in the next four at Newcastle, United and Birmingham. At just 5.2 in the FPL however, the Chelsea loanee is crying out as a third striker option now that the clamour for double Gameweek strikers has diminished.

Everton lined up without their Blackpool four-goal hero Louis Saha who has been sidelined for two-weeks with hamstring injury. David Moyes recalled Tim Cahill to the starting XI to compensate, the Aussie making his first start since his return from the Asia Cup. Jack Rodwell also missed out – he is sidelined for at least a month with a groin injury. Victory Anichebe also came in to the lead the attack then as Moyes went with a 4-5-1. John Heitinga continued in defence as Phil Jagielka again had to be content with a place on the bench.

David Moyes rated Sunday’s performance as amongst the worst is his reign as manager. An alarming state of affairs given his side’s comeback against Blackbpool at Goodison just over a week ago. Everton missed the quality of Saha up front, but also appeared to lack the appetite for a battle and Bolton outfought them in all areas across the pitch. For Fantasy Managers the nature of the defeat casts doubt over Everton’s assets at a time when their potential looks strong with four home matches in the next five, including their Gameweek 29 double fixture (SUN new&BIR FUL AVL)

Regardless of Everton’s performance and the fact that he missed a gilt-edged opportunity to earn his side a foothold, Tim Cahill will remain a key transfer target. The Aussie alternated with Mikel Arteta in the support role for Anichebe up front for the early part of the game, before Moyes pushed Cahill further forward to chase an equaliser. Cahill’s goalscoring instincts will be expected to come good, particularly with Everton facing a run of consecutive home matches.

Leighton Baines and Seamus Coleman were picked out in Foch’s Knee Jerk last night and will also remain at the forefront of our thinking. Defensively however, we shouldn’t expect too much – Everton have kept just a single clean sheet in their last 18 games – that came against Wigan back in Gameweek 17. Baines was the one player to emerge from yesterday’s showing with any credit for Everton – his supply from the left was a threat and he, like Cahill, will be expected to come out of Everton’s run of opponents with some profit. At 7.5 however, Baines looks an expensive option, particularly with Coleman offering promise from his right-wing role for a fee of 5.2.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

With Man U enjoying a DGW28, I have 8.6 to spend on a Man U midfielder to strand alongside Nani. Who would you choose and why...many thanks

It's not bound to happen and anyway with 3 days between the games I wouldn't be sure who to play. Giggs is the immediate choice but only for one of the 2 games.

DGW or not there isn't really anyone worth having in that United midfield other than Naan bread.

But if pushed I'd say Giggs. He's a big rotation risk though. Not sure on their exact prices but what about A. Young or T. Cahill instead?

are these figures points lost to the bench or simply the accumulated points of those players who start on the bench regardless of whether or not they come on? if it's the latter then the numbers will have been skewed by peeps startin non-players to get a wee bump at the end of the gameweek after auto-subs take effect. i've done that myself a couple times esp. when i had no-one to play in the last match and was sick of the inevitable slide that resulted

        I posted this earlier:

Without doubt the best striker since I started watching football, he completely changed what it meant to be a striker. His season at Barca in 97/98 was magical, probably even more unstoppable than Messi is. Who knows what he would have done if he hadn’t started getting horrendous injuries at the age of about 21.

        A phenomenon.

Anyone think it's worth taking Adam out for Jarvis for the next few weeks?

Will definitely do it if Adam gets booked against Spurs but starting to think that it's a good shout anyway.. Adam's going to miss 2 games at some point soon, and fixtures are poor until GW33. The only potential problem is that if I take him out and he somehow avoids a booking for a few weeks, I'll lose out big time if he does anything, as practically everyone in my £ league has him.

    Anyone else making this move?

I'm considering it... not for 28 if Adam avoids a yellow but after that. I want to downgrade Adam to a player I'll not regularly play and Jarvis is a good pick. There's no game for the rest of the season I'd be unhappy having him in for so ideal cover for injuires/suspensions/rotation.

basically u bet against it happening

say i am waiting on barcelona to win the CL for £5000 from my £150 stake

the odds n them not winning it may be even money at that point so i could put £2500 on them not winning it and be gauranteed £2500 either way rather than £5000 or nothing

u can lay for any amount

last year 2010 i was waiting on phil taylor to win teh world championship in the darts for 3k so in the final i put £100 on whitlock at 5/1 so although i lost £100 of my £3k winnings i would have made £500 if he did lose so its like insuring it

119 points ahead in my mini league, surely I can't lose from here?! I've been top ever since week 3 or 4 and the only blip I had was over the nov/dec period where I was caught up to a point where I think I was only a couple of points in the lead.

Not that I want to count my eggs before they've hatched (is that the correct saying?) but it's looking good I'd say.

Arteta or Cahill? Its probably safer to go with form but Arteta does have a good few set pieces and he has scored well in the past and playing a bit more advanced recently but I am not sure!

Gonna get rid of Fabs and Djourou for Cahill and Walker or Fabs and Van der Vaart for Cahill and A.Young this week not sure yet though! will be able to field 11 without a pts hit all going well!

I suppose now would be the right time to do get Fabregas out with a view to brining RVP in. Still not confident I want to do that though.

I, on my wildcard, will bench Djorou, VDV and RVP, and sell Walcott, allowing me to play a 4-4-2 with some good fixtures. Come on Carlos Tevez as captain!

      Depends on

      1) if you plan to get him back in, and if so
      2) how much you'd lose to get him back

Definitely wait til the European games and the Eve-Che FA Cup replay have been played, in case of injuries to your other players (or Cahill).

cheers for that.. i will lose .4 if i sell now, so want to get it done before any more loss- VDV bound to go down at least .2 with red flag and no GW28, so wouldn't lose out too much if wanted him back. Also, won't be able to field 11 for GW28.

Cahill looked ok at the weekend, played far forward and almost had a goal.

        Still advise waiting?

Definitely wait, like lots of people you've got no subs for GW28, so an injury would be a real pain in the arse.

ok i'll wait, but if i leave him in i'll still only have 10 in GW28 and want to keep my arsenal trio! bbc say VDV is playing tomorrow.

I don't think VDV will go down again at all in the forseeable future. Once his Red flag is removed (which is likely to be soon) he will be price protected and people will start bringing him back in again. I would sit tight if I was you. I got rid of VDV for Lennon last week and regret doing so.

i was playing around with how my team would look if i wildcarded now
i came up with this team, defenders all rotate nicely to give 3 good home games for the next 6 weeks, and a good selection of midfielders and strikers in form / nice fixture

    what do you think?

    gordon, howard
    samba, huth, rjohnson, kolorov, coleman
    cahill, silva, walcott, dempsey, nolan
    tevez, rvp, sturridge

No Man Utd? Nani is someone I couldn't bring myself to be without for the rest of the season, barring injury. Don't like Dempsey in there either.

I'll be wildcarding this week but team won't look much like that I don't think - that's not to say I don't think it's good, Sturridge is someone I'm definitely interested in.

    VDS Guaita
    D. Navarro Marcelo Oddo Bosingwa Smalling
    Ozil Nani Sneijder Joaquin Vingaard
    Etoo Gomez Messi

I am concerned about Bosingwa and Smalling actually starting. I can check early lineup on Oddo (AC Milan). Three Valencia players- too much? Only .2 cash left.
