The Watchlist rankings have had their weekly refresh and earned a new update today following last night’s events. You’ll find the current standings in the bottom of your right sidebar.

Double gameweek’s again have an influence, although many of the assets amongst the Everton and Birmingham squads all appear to come with caveats, suggesting that the allure of the double fixtures is nowhere near as strong this time around. Old favourites hold the top spots then, and there’s a real dilemma amongst the strikers on offer as injuries and rotation cut the options and may well force some risk-taking.

Ben Foster’s two forthcoming double fixtures earns him top ranking amongst the goalkeepers with Arsenal’s Wojciech Scezesny and Chelsea’s Petr Cech, his nearest rivals. Cech’s fixtures, capped by his own double in gameweek 33, enables him to take up his highest ranking for a good while.

Uncertainty in the Chelsea back four also boosts Cech’s appeal, although David Luiz has suddenly emerged as a real Fantasy prospect, compounded by his impressive showing against United last night. Yellow and even red cards may be a concern, but his energy and power looks certain to catch the eye of Bonus judges, while clean sheets could arrive given the opponents lined up for Carlo Ancelotti’s men. Champions League ineligibility only bolsters the case for Luiz.

He’s a high climber in the defender rankings then, but hovers just outside the top five with Seamus Coleman and Roger Johnson’s doubles keeping them in the top echelons. Johnson is marked as an unconfirmed injury doubt right now and could be swapped out for Liam Ridgewell if his knee injury looks set to sideline him for the weekend clash with West Brom at St Andrews. Fulham’s Brede Hangeland and Tottenham’s Michael Dawson look handy differentials in the mid-price if you’re in the market for such a thing – again, fixtures play a major part in their attraction for the coming weeks and have them ahead of the likes of Robert Huth and Aleksandar Kolarov.

Samir Nasri and Ashley Young are undoubtedly the hot properties in midfield right now and the fixture list should bring them continued returns over the coming weeks. Nasri’s potential will likely be increased as a result of injuries to both Cesc Fabregas and Robin Van Persie – the Frenchman should assume penalty and free-kick duties as a result. More on him to come.

Fulham’s Clint Dempsey is another high climber and makes the top five with two strong home fixtures on the horizon. The American is the big goal threat from Mark Hughes’ side and, although unlikely to be handed a strikers role, he continues to return goal attempts with regularity. A goal or two in the next 3-4 gameweeks looks very likely.

Wolves’ Jamie O’Hara is of course the budget option of choice. Ineligible against Spurs this weekend, the loanee still hast the fixtures in the coming weeks and indeed, until the end of the season, to flourish further in Fantasy terms. We’re expecting big Bonus returns from him given his level of influence within a fairly unspectacular Wolves lineup.

The rankings amongst the forwards are really hard to call. Carlos Tevez holds top spot despite faltering form; his fixtures look to offer enough assistance to turn this around and, it must be said, there’s a lack of consistent rivals to threaten him. Wayne Rooney is showing form and has decent fixtures and gets closest his City rival, while Daniel Sturridge, Louis Saha (with his double fixture) and Moussa Dembele, all have strong appeal as differentials. The absence of Robin Van Persie and the insecurity amongst the Chelsea frontline really does limit our current options however. The current level of uncertainty and the opportunity for differentials in this area appears to offer hope for those currently chasing a mini-league lead.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Hi all. I'm doing Cahiil OUT Lamps (c) IN (see above)

DJCampbell OUT Beckford (DGW) IN ?? 4 point hit. Would leave me 0.0 in the bank and Beckford is rising tonight.

Should I do it? 17 minutes and counting

Lads my keepers are Robinson and Gordon. I am planning an 8 point hit and was gona stick with robbo as other areas of my team need addressed. Should I be bringing in foster. Would mean I would have to start bardsley who isn't likely to get much points this gw. Cheers in advance. Ur advice much appreciated.

Hello all! taking my first 8 point hit this season(injuries have literally forced my hands). Staying away from the popular move of goin for Arteta. Most likely transfers are Rafael, RVP and Berbs out for Coleman/baines, Zigic and Saha. Should be okay, huh?

Very expensive, I agree. But at the moment he's prob the only guaranteed starter in the mid/att for Chelsea. On pens and fks and they have 6 great fixtures coming up. Plus, remember the run-in last season!

Agreed, they have City at home next week (bogey team, lost last three) and then a trip to the Britianna where nobody gets an easy game.

Fair enough their fixtures improve after that and I will be hopping on the wagon then but I think this week is another case of 'lets bring in players playing Blackpool' syndrome

SD, it won't let me reply anymore, I have Rooney/Nani and Giggs (stupid punt), that is why I would't go for Berbatov. I have advised countless people on here to hold Berbatov if they had him, as I think he will start at Anfield, but I wouldn't be advising people to bring him in.

My opinion was simply, if Zigic and Berbatov were in the same team, I would go for Berbatov, he has more class in his left eyebrow than Zigic, albeit that Zigic has 2 games. Yes, I went for Zigic because (a) it was free, and (b) yes he should get 4 points at least, and I do want to upgrade Giggs to Lampard or Barton to Nasri, or something like that.

amla is a good pick, our league leader also captained him and his one day avg . is quite impressive...tahir is a slight doubt but took 4 wickets in his last match and should be ok but this pitch has bounce and pace so pacers may do well than the spinners... 7-8 out of the top 10 in our league has captained steyn...

South Africa had a few minor injuries to worry about during the week - Steyn (side), JP Duminy (back) and Tahir (throat infection) - but all three have recovered and are expected to play.

I think that if your looking to get in an expensive goalkeeper next year, Nottingham Forest's Lee Camp could well be the cheapie to compliment him with. If they were to get promoted, he should be priced at £4.0m, and get a hell of a lot of save points and bonus points.

      cahill out arteta in
      fab out nasri in
*but i noticed u have not taken a hit all season but u need to take atleast a 4-8 pt hit this week to get a good score imo...

Nothing wrong with hits if they help you field a team. Maybe:
Tevez, Rooney or Zigic for RVP
Two of three Nasri, Young, FFL for Cesc and Cahill
Hope that Barton or Johnson plays.
8 point hit well worth it, if not this week, the moves will pay off over the next few weeks.

decent team for this week...lampard captain could get some points or easily backfire but is see that u don't have any option as well...if u have a free transfer left transfer out berba for saha/dzeko/tevez(if u can afford him) otherwise keep him ...both roo and berba can do well against bolton next week at home...

What a Kick-in-Ass performance by Irish cricket team yesterday night. Brilliant. I guess, ireland-england are huge Sports rivals. Doesn't get better. This is the best Cricket World Cup I'v ever seen. No favorites any more and the cup is wide open. The quality is so high from all teams.
Whats the view in England/Ireland regarding the loss/victory ?

Less of football for me next few weeks, more of Cricket!

1 transfer and .4 in the bank. I don't believe my team is that bad this week
    Hart
    Djourou, Kolarov, Huth
Nani, Meireles, A Young, Ferguson, VDV
    Tevez, Rooney(Odemwingie)

    Huth to Coleman(possible rotation risk?)
Odem to the obvious Zigic... not much else I can do!

Wait until the official team news comes out before making transfers. VDV, Meireles, Cahill, RJ and others are all doubts so we won't know 'til then. My team page looks like a red checkerboard atm.

Moving on from cricket....who are these judges that dtermine the bonus points? Lampard was awful and he gets 2BP for what...converting a penalty? Please FPL, get rid of the BP or just have 1 MOTM award.

Have to take another hit if barton out

    Please choose

    1. Barton ->Lampard , RVP -> Saha (0.2 in bank left)
    2. Barton ->Nasri , RVP -> Torres (or maybe Saha? would give me 4+ left in the bank)

thing with option 2 with Saha instead of torres is it gives me $$ to upgrade yaya toure to VDV next week
