With Robin Van Persie and Theo Walcott ruled out of tomorrow’s home match with Sunderland and Cesc Fabregas looking very unlikely to be risked, Arsene Wenger’s side will be deprived of much of the attacking vigour that has propelled them to just four points of the league summit with a game in hand.

In recent weeks the Gunners have relied heavily on the tenacious trio: with Van Persie’s 10 goals in his last seven Premier League fixtures and Theo Walcott’s 5 assists and 2 goals in his last six games. The loss of Cesc Fabregas in midfield meanwhile, was there for all to see in the Carling Cup defeat to Birmingham; the Gunners lacked a leader on that Wembley pitch.

Three points this weekend are a top priority but Wenger will be keeping a firm eye on the Champions League match with Barcelona next Tuesday. While Van Persie and Walcott are out of the picture, any hopes that Fabregas have of making the Nou Camp clash will surely rely on being rested. In their absence, Samir Nasri will resultantly shoulder the attacking burden for the Gunners’ imminent set of fixtures (SUN, wba, BLA, blp, LIV & tot, bol) and, barring a tricky double on Gameweek 33, the run looks relatively straightforward.

Prior to a hamstring injury that saw him miss much of February, Nasri was in outstanding form, particularly before the turn of the year. The midfielder has returned 108 FPL points this season, including 9 goals and 16 bonus points. His dazzling displays have left question marks over his Arsenal future, with teams such as Barcelona allegedly sniffing around.

Intriguingly, the three games in which Nasri has notched up his best Fantasy Premier League returns this season (West Brom (H) 12 FPL points, Man City (A) 14 FPL points, Fulham (H) 15 FPL points) have come when he has been the prominent force in Arsenal’s attack. Across these three fixtures Van Persie has managed just 28 minutes, Fabregas 84 and Walcott 26. In the trio’s probable absence at Sunderland, the stage is all set for Nasri to once again deliver a big performance and hefty Fantasy return.

Given his added attacking responsibilities, Nasri is also likely to take over some set piece duties. Expect him to fight it out with Arshavin and co for penalties and direct free-kicks, enhancing his potential further.

Another factor worth considering is the Frenchman’s drop in FPL ownership. Although hardly a “differential”, with 12.6% of Fantasy Managers holding Nasri in their teams, the player has been transferred out by hundreds of thousands throughout February. His price has, in turn, dropped slightly from a peak of 8.5 to 8.2.

paddy sayspaddy says

Nasri to score a brace vs Sunderland 13/2

Nasri to score directly from a free-kick vs Sunderland 8/1

Nasri to get booked vs Sunderland 9/2

johnfinlay John swears he'll deliver unbiased Fantasy Premier League tips and news...until Leeds get promoted.

Ha.. a couple of guys in work are taking bets on this weekend's footy.. I've just got some ludicrous odds..

    Carroll anytime goalscorer 15/1
    Tevez hat-trick 20/1

Got to be worth a quid each.

Just a some notes for you guys to optionally take on board - or just ignore me and say 'fk off' just as long as you have a smile on your face when you type it...

Baines: No Cahill and pretty sure quite a large potion of his assists have come from crossing to Cahill's sheriff's badge and then into the net.

Zigic: He's said in a recent story that he's not confident (or has fears) his place isn't cemented, so there's a chance he might not start both games. Who knows, time will tell but if he's come out and said he has doubts, then it's something to take into account.

Lampard: Costs a large chunk of money and after this weekend, Chelsea have Man City then away to Stoke. For me, Chelsea's nice run starts after the Stoke game (including a DGW), so I'm going with the option of Nasri instead with Chelsea players penciled in for GW32.

My 2 transfers (4 point hit) I've gone with Nasri & Saha, as I have Bentley (so decided not to bother with Zigic, hoping any Zigic goals could be from a Bentley cross) and know from earlier in the season, Nasri without Fabregas = goals, assists and BPs.

What i find strange is a professional athlete with a team of specialists at his disposal went a took a pill to lose weight.

Surely someone could have had a word, changed his diet abit, checked out exercise levels etc.

"nah il jst pop this random pill my wife is using to lose weight"

And the search goes on for a Footballer with common sense 😀

Ya its common place in sports. Cant be done in literally 2min. And there are loads of ways of doing it.

Metabolism risers are pretty bogus. Lots of the pills just prevent you from absorbing fat into your small instestine so you sh*T it out. Horrid stuff

And dont gain weight then cos ur losing it.

Still doesnt stop the fact that recent research shows higher carb diets are being linked with higher body fat than actually fats in diets.

Then again kolo may have just never stopped eating....

              Depends on the brand.

Some just prevent absorption of certain mineral vitamins and foods sources so not just water

But in boxing it it coming place to lose couple kg water b4 fights. Highly dangerous.

Ya few years back had lead physio for Elite Irish Boxing team for olympics in talking to us.

Crazy stuff , young boxers trying to make weight in cuba for world champ bouts losing massive water amounts to make weight then goin out trying to box where some would faint, others couldnt fight and some were just not fit to fight.

                  Potential for longterm health problems.

Strange thing is the culture in both sports for so long seem to accept it as normal. Slowly changing.

Didn't they say it was a cracked rib...dude has some serious pain threshold. its risky...so lets say he misses one...that's 2 to 3 to 5 or 6 points (bonus points) for the home game...the next is away and will only be 2 or 3...so if it's points you're after then i wouldn't bet on him...his injury is very vague to estimate anything else...If you want to try your luck pick Bardsley...he is a threat on goal...maybe not the clean sheet though...

Got left on the last page 🙁

I’ve made a 4 point hit to field this team:

    Foster
    Hangeland Coleman Walker
    Nani Downing Arteta VDV/Barton
    Tevez (c) Zigic
    Subs:Al-Habsi Berbs Gohouri Perch

With the whole VDV/Barton scenario, would it be better for me to consider another hit on getting one of them out?

So a total 8 point hit on?

    a) VDV>Lampard
    b) Barton>Nasri
    c) Leave it

    RVP -> ZIGIC

Rival has Fab but if dont get rid i cant field 11

    FOSTER ( Bergovic)
    Huth COLEMAN Simpson (Rafael, Kelly)
    Nani Fab Brunt Barton (Adam)
    Tevez(C) RVP Berbatov

I could do Rafael => Djrorou but i dont want to take another 4 point hit for a def.

    I wanted Fab => Lampard

Bruce will have given his Sunderland side a rocket up the backside after last week's performance. I'm hoping or trusting Lampard to do more against Blackpool than Nasri will against Sunderland.

Fabregas will be back soon followed by Walcott and Van Persie, and I don't want to spend another transfer swapping Nasri out.

I would however consider Nasri ahead of the likes of Arteta and Bentley.

Given that my good run is primarily down to luck I'd flip a coin 🙂 I don't think there's much to choose between them really - Zigic only really seems to score frmo the sort of set pieces scramble that Johnson and Ridgewell do, Saha probably has the potential to score more but he's so streaky... Sorry mate I just don't know!

        That's fine, it's not a test 😉

After watching the Carling Cup, it's clear that everything goes through Zigic. I don't fancy him to score many but he could easily assist via a knock down or get bonus points from the headed duals he wins.

Saha is the more talented striker imo, but with Everton's injuries I can see Moyes starting both Saha and Beckford and I don't know how much ball possession Everton will win in a 442 formation. If I double up on Birmingham's defence then I'm not going to want Saha to score either lol.

To be honest, I thought it was because of the yellow, and that he was just feigning an injury so it wasn't so obvious that he was subbed because he's completely lost his head - which he had, his reaction to scoring was then trying to kick the shit out of everyone, especially Potato Head. Completely bizarre.

I'm all over Torres this week. The team will be desperate for him to score his first goal for the club, and will - assuming we're winning - try to engineer it so he scores, or at least has as many chances as possible.

Ya but if you see its like one those moments where some chelsea player of camera is kind of puzzled why he is being taken off. Then luiz shakes his head, holds his ham and like reassures the player its injury.

If it were for yellow card purposes then Luiz wouldnt need to do that.

The fact he didnt train all week confirms it was hamstring problem.

Torres potential 1- 15. Might even captain him.

alright guys, i'm thinking about bringing in one of torres, lampard, who'd you reckon would be the best bet?

Torres a mil cheaper but lacking confidence? and will maybe be rotated with drog and anelka. But surely once the 1st one goes in he'll be lethal.

Lamps is more assured of starts, takes pens, but will be harder to fit in and if he's not getting the points will be alot of cash wasted.

    What do you reckon?

Fabregas isn't even going to play so you shouldn't worry about your rival having him.

However, id go for Nasri over Lampard.

This has to be the worst week to have a bad GW, a whole 13 days until the next one.

This is my first year of being an addict so i am yet to experience that! Hopefully i'll have the title of Mini League Champion to keep me happy.

Stilicho you taking a points hit this week? I havent for ages!
Almost def going to do Brunt -> Nasri.
But then cant decide whether to do:
    RvP to Saha (-4 points)
    OR
Just bench RvP (along with Adam & Kelly) and play Huth or Berba?
    Cheers

      same dilemma as me.
huth won't get many points and berba won't play imo.

i'm even contemplating bringing in rooney for rvp and benching berba.

why is everyone talking about zigic speech not being first choice... what would you want him to say???
he has to say that it's up to the coach of course...

"Will I be in the starting XI? That is a question on which I cannot give you an answer," noted Zigic.

"Alex McLeish is the one who decides. He is the man in charge, he takes responsibility for everything.

"I just have to work hard and try to do something from every minute I get."

i think even a top player would answer that if there where some doubts about him being first squad...

Anyone think Saha is worth a hit? Team is

    Hart (Szczesny)
    Coleman Carr Djourou (Rafael Kelly)
    Nani Nolan Young VDV (Adam)
    RVP Berb Odemwingie

Going to do RVP->Tevez and VDV->Nasri, thinking Odem->Saha for 4pt hit, good idea?
