With the qualification mark set at 43, it’s now time for the 509 qualifiers to join our former winners in the first round of the Fantasy Football Scout Cup IV. The draw has been made and the full set of fixtures can be viewed right here. [Tip: Use Ctrl+F to find your tie.] Once you’ve learned of your opponent (or if you haven’t got one), read on for a summary of some notable round one ties…

The one to avoid this round was arguably oi keano, the highest-ranked (31st in the world) Fantasy Manager in the competition. The challenge of upsetting the odds goes to 780th in the world Shy Ted. A tough first assignment for our favourite.

Our former Champions join the fray at this stage, having earned the right to bypass qualifying. Which is just as well really, as none of them would’ve done enough in gameweek 29 to make passage.

FFS Cup I winner, but currently languishing 182,085th in the world (too much too young?), donnellyc has a very winnable match-up against EpicFAIL, as he looks to rediscover his Cup-form and resurrect his season.

This time last season, Jonty started his journey in round one of the FFS Cup II with a 74 – 58 win over Sonnky, on his way to the ultimate glory. This time round, sitting 26,392nd overall, he’ll be very confident of notching a win over jacklfc88, a Fantasy Manager ranked outside the top 400k.

Then we have our reigning, defending Champion Gooner dave, who sits at a lofty 135th in the world. Still involved in the Members’ Paddy Power Cup, will juggling the two competitions be his undoing? Lovely_Camel will hope so, as he has the daunting task of stopping the fantasy juggernaut.

There’s not many Scout Contributor’s representing in the first round, but we’ll be doing our best to keep the flag flying. It’s Akers Vs. Sizo, with my opponent easily outranking me with his superb position of 540th in the world. Next up it’s Granville Vs. Bluevikings, as the top 500 in the world Scout gets a favourable tie against an opponent ranked outside the top 100k. Like Granville, Big Dunc will be pleased will his draw against Oscar 12, boasting a far healthier overall rank over his opponent. Pure Olivia is up against it however, as he looks to out-muscle stevebland. Our final representative is Da beeeez, who will no doubt be cheered on around these parts with his match-up with Titus Shambles.

Lastly, a mention for the no. 512 entrant, Ronnay Barkay, who will be hoping to make easier work of Cup progression this week against cameron craigie.

Good luck to everyone in the first round, and I’ll bring you the results a couple of days after the gameweek has concluded.

RVP's problem is that it's hard to score points... when you are at home in a cast.

Tev doesn't get injured like all bulls.

Evening guys. I'm wanting the differential from now on. My rank is w*nk this season so I need to beat my rival. He's 3 up with 8 to play. He's also getting VP so i got eh, hmm... sturridge LOL!

with zigic's doubt id hate him to come on with 5 mins to go against wigan. i see sturridge has a slight 'niggle' but who u think will get more points.

zigic or sturridge? much appreciated guys!!!

Aren't they down to just four defenders at the moment anyway? I just think Smalling's a) cheaper and b) more likely to start when some of the other players returns from injury.

Not necessarily! I think Evra's more likely to get non-defensive points and is also more likely to be in the first team in the long run. Having said that, I would personally go with Smalling.

I'm a big fan of Big Star and Bandwagonsque era Teenage Fanclub so there was a lot for me to like with Smith Westerns, but i realise its not for everyone.

My favourite of the year so far is Darren Hayman's January Songs - only on download at the mo, but should be released in the summer on CD.

The nice PR people at Merge have sent me the new Mountain Goats album, which is great. Out next month. And another to check out is Midlake's Late Night Tales compilation, but only if you like 70s UK folk. That's also out next month.

Ahh, literally never even heard of Darren Hayman, so I'll be sure to check that out come student loan time next month.

'Fraid I find Midlake and (to a less extent degree) Mountain Goats a little bit boring. Not bad, necessarily, there just ain't enough there to keep me interested long enough to get involved.

Yeah, didn't give Lisbon too much of a listen when it came out, and every time I did I thought "wow, I forgot how good this is". I'm playing it all the time now.

I think 2011 has been a bit dry so far. Struggling to find albums to like other than those two.

I agree, by this time last year there had already been great albums released by Field Music, Los Campesinos, Owen Pallett and many more. 2011 is dry in comparison.

Here's my favourites of last year. http://www.neonfiller.com/wordpress/?p=1180 ...really was a great year for music.

And finally you should check out my epic attempt to gather the top 100 indie and alternative albums of all time here. The Walkmen already feature in it.

Schweet. Will give them a proper read later, but Tallest Man on Earth was easily my most-played album last year. Probably this year as well.

Sorry you both feel like that. This is the first season of the Members content and we've big plans to improve it next season - a new version of the next six ticker, with the ability to expand it to view the full ticker - is in test and will likely be rolled out before then. This issue wont' be a factor then.

We will improve on things for next season and hopefully convince you that it is worth supporting the site with your membership.

Sticking up for the members content... I think paying for the benefits of the members articles and opta stats have been worth it in my opinion - some really useful info! It would be nice to be able to filter the opta stats by home/away though - unless this is possible and I haven't figured out how to do this yet?

We are looking to incorporate the fixture data in our DB for next season. This will apply fixtures to each gameweek and enable users to filter Opta stats by home and away. It's one of several features planned for development in the Summer.

It can be tweaked to reflect your own feelings towards the relative difficulty of the upcoming fixtures. It's a bit friggin pointless when the upcoming fixtures are postponed but still listed as going ahead. Sort it out!

You have 4 other fit defenders. Fergie seems to prefer Hernandez' movement at the mo so Berba is tying up funds that could be MUCH better spent on a top class forward playing west brom.

Braga are really good. And Liverpool are really bad.

They're failing miserably when they try to attack with passing moves so all they have left is the hoof towards Carroll. He'll have to have a good second half for them to get through.

I'm not confident they will start. They are 50 -50 each match, with Coleman's odds of playing slightly higher with Arteta out. I have Coleman, but I'd rather be shot in the head solidly for a whole year than get Kolorov.

Coleman never was but Everton had no-one else fit. A re-shuffle meant he lost his place to Arteta. Who is now injured. Coleman should play a few more games yet.
Kolarov got found out defensively so got pushed forward in much the same way as Coleman. Only Man City have a few more options going forward.
I think you're right to be thinking about offloading both. I'd start with Kolarov.

OK but regardless it is a sunk cost, those 4pts are lost regardless of an extra transfer.
Anyway it might be worth a 4pt hit although I would not do it (Tevez will have a two week rest after and be my captain vs Sun)
