After the feast of yesterday’s eight fixtures we’ve got a relative famine this afternoon as we have just two games to sate our fantasy appetite this Sunday afternoon.

The Dugout Discussion swings open it’s doors once again as the two English sides knocked out of the Europa League in midweek are left to pick themselves back up and dust themselves down, starting with Liverpool at Sunderland.

The News from the Stadium of Light sees Danny Welbeck coming for Steed Malbranque as he makes his first start in over two months following a knee injury. Kenny Dalglish meanwhile gives Andy Carroll his first Premier League start in a Liverpool shirt as he (and Jay Spearing) come into the Liverpool side. The full teams are…

Sunderland XI: Mignolet; Bardsley, Bramble, Mensah, Ferdinand; Sessegnon, Henderson, Muntari, Richardson; Welbeck, Gyan

Liverpool XI: Reina; Carragher, Agger, Skrtel, Johnson; Spearing, Lucas; Kuyt, Meireles, Suarez; Carroll

After Asamoah Gyan and Luis Suarez have had time to think back on their long hot summer together we’ll be capital bound to close out the season as Chelsea host Man City as the two sides scrap for continued points in the fight for the Champions League spaces. With talk that Tevez may very well have undertaken a late fitness test on his groin plenty of managers will be hotly anticipating the results – especially those vicarious enough to hand him their fantasy armband.

The chatroom will be open through all the action as the Dugout Discussion is here to close out the last gameweek of the month.

Andy Leicester won the Premier League. Leicester. Premier League. What is this life? Follow them on Twitter

I know there r no games this week, but to beat the price rises!!

    Szczsney (inj)> Foster DGW33
    Kelly (inj) > Luiz DGW33
Silva (no fixture 33) > Adam

0 money in bank and 2 free transfers…
    Thoughts??

would you rather beat the price rises to find that the players you got in are injured and have to take a hit? patience is a virtue my friend.

mignolet is a risk though as he has solid competition from Gordon. After he let in suarez at the near post today, he may be a risk. Bruce has been quite willing to take either out after a poor performance.

Is it just form that's an issue? I thought Gordon had an ongoing injury and if it doesn't clear up he may need surgery.
Gonna keep an eye out. Still need to replace Szczesny. Mignolet's top of the list.

Yeah they're all good transfers and seeing as you can't do it otherwise - risk it.
Not sure what the situation is with Mignolet but if he's gonna keep his place it's worth him over Foster. Great fixtures till the end.

It's not that surprising when you think about it- it's not like they're a regular army and it's hard to tell every single rebel AA gun to stop firing on the one occasion it's NOT a Gaddafi jet....

TBH, it doesn't matter now anyway as it's not like they're short on air power!

Only team left in the competition that is unbeaten against the other remaining sides. 😉

Yeah we can beat Sri Lanka, but we'd have to take early wickets. Their top order is quality, but once you get past Jayawardena their batting isn't anything to fear, and the likes of Samaraweera and Chamara Silva aren't in any sort of form.

If we bowl first, restrict them to a gettable total by taking early wickets, then we wouldn't have to attack Murali and Mendis and would have a great shout of chasing the total.

All that said, I can't see us winning because our bowling attack - Swann aside - is so mediocre at the moment.

I can't see it either. Bowling has been mediocre but our batting has been even worse. If their bowlers are on form it could be embarrassing.
