After the feast of yesterday’s eight fixtures we’ve got a relative famine this afternoon as we have just two games to sate our fantasy appetite this Sunday afternoon.

The Dugout Discussion swings open it’s doors once again as the two English sides knocked out of the Europa League in midweek are left to pick themselves back up and dust themselves down, starting with Liverpool at Sunderland.

The News from the Stadium of Light sees Danny Welbeck coming for Steed Malbranque as he makes his first start in over two months following a knee injury. Kenny Dalglish meanwhile gives Andy Carroll his first Premier League start in a Liverpool shirt as he (and Jay Spearing) come into the Liverpool side. The full teams are…

Sunderland XI: Mignolet; Bardsley, Bramble, Mensah, Ferdinand; Sessegnon, Henderson, Muntari, Richardson; Welbeck, Gyan

Liverpool XI: Reina; Carragher, Agger, Skrtel, Johnson; Spearing, Lucas; Kuyt, Meireles, Suarez; Carroll

After Asamoah Gyan and Luis Suarez have had time to think back on their long hot summer together we’ll be capital bound to close out the season as Chelsea host Man City as the two sides scrap for continued points in the fight for the Champions League spaces. With talk that Tevez may very well have undertaken a late fitness test on his groin plenty of managers will be hotly anticipating the results – especially those vicarious enough to hand him their fantasy armband.

The chatroom will be open through all the action as the Dugout Discussion is here to close out the last gameweek of the month.

I love some of my friends in my money mini league. One took an 8 point hit this week, one of the transfers was to.get in walker who was then his third sub. Don't think he needed the cash

West Indies actually looking good so far against India. If they win it means England play Pakistan instead of Sri lanka, which is the preferred opponent in your opinion?

Honestly think we can beat both. Interesting how we are the only team remaining in the competition who are unbeaten against the other seven teams. Puts all the criticism into perspective.

If you take early wickets against Sri Lanka then they are very much beatable, as there middle order is very fragile and completely off form. And chasing a low target would mean not having to attack the likes of Murali and Mendis.

You never know which Pakistan will turn up, but even at there best I still think that Sri Lanka are a better side than them. If you successfully negotiate (easier said than done) Gul and Afridi, then the rest of their bowling attack is weak.

      I'd much rather Pakistan, personally.

I agree with you, Pakistan would be better. Sri lanka seem to have a stronger team as a whole and are much more consistent. And after seeing Murali rip apart the batting side the other day I'm a bit hesitant to go up against him.

Bizarrely I'm starting to think he might have a point.

i have a feeling quite a few will be doing the same - luiz fixtures are FAR better. it just depends if there are other defenders you could ship out instead. Kolorovs blank in 33 causes issues, especially if you already have united players as they miss 33 too.

Very promising, but needs game time. A loan would do him good but maybe Ally will play him next year.

Also whilst we're on ScotScout - hows our lad Fraser Forster doing for Celtic? Haven't been following SPL at all this season.

You'll need someone from the dark-side to answer that one for you 😉

Adam Lampard and O'Hara versus Young, Nasri and Arteta until the end of the season. Mental or genius?

Just mulling over possibities. I have RVP so that could do for Arsenal.

Why is everyone so desperate for Torres to fail? It isn't even to close to being the same for Carroll. 😕

We all (not liverpool/chelsea fans) want both of them to fail.

*we all = united and arsenal (maybe city and spurs)

Majority of neutrals would probably rather they did well.. particularly Carroll

I'm conflicted on that one. I want him to do well (especially for England) but still disappointed he left.

Good question. I'm not sure. Probably because Chelsea are a big powerhouse these days and the thought of an inform partnership of Torres and Drogba is pretty frightening. Liverpool have diminished as a threat but with the right support Suarez and Carroll could be immense.
      Short answer - fear probably.
