The draw for the first round of the 2019/20 FFS Cup FFS Cup

With the draw for the second round of the FFS Cup IV to come on Thursday, following last week’s results article, sandwiched between them we have the round up for the Members’ Paddy Power Cup. Last gameweek we had 16 Fantasy Managers looking for a spot in the Quarter-Finals, which boasted two of the top 50 in the world (who went head-to-head) and the reigning Fantasy Football Scout Cup champion. Along with the all-important Quarter-Final draw, here is how the last round unfolded…

In our blockbuster main event, 26th in the world Zophar squared-off against 31st in the world oi keano. A high-scoring affair saw Zophar come away a convincing 73 – 60 winner. That effort earned him a green arrow, putting him a season-high 17th overall. As for oi keano, his battle with Zophar perhaps isn’t over, after a solid score resulted in the rarest of beasts – a blue arrow. Good luck to both of them for the rest of the season.

That high-scoring fixture was bettered however, as The Hunt put his name firmly on the radar as he notched an almighty 84 points, despite only being able to field ten. With the best score not making the next round, his opponent Jwebber will feel slightly unlucky after his fine effort of 65.

The biggest name left in the competition has to be current FFS Cup III champion Gooner dave, and he powered through to the quarters with a comfortable 62 – 54 victory over FC Super-Hans.

Two of the eight ties were settled by very slender margins; two points separated Kippax Kloggers (57) and Stefan Kuntz (55), and just a single point split kapitdave (49) and Alchi-traz (48).

Onto the Quarter-Final draw then, and this is how they’ll face-off in Gameweek 31…

  1. Roostars Vs. ryangal1982
  2. Gooner dave Vs. Kippax Kloggers
  3. The Hunt Vs. canetoad
  4. Zophar Vs. kapitidave

So the big-hitters previously mentioned have avoided each other, but there’s no easy game at this stage of the tournament. Good luck to all eight quarter-finalists, and I’ll bring you news of how these fixtures played out a few days after the gameweek has concluded.

Once again, the prizes for the competition, provided by Paddy Power, are a free £150 bet for the winner, £75 for the runner-up and £50 for third place.

If you’re not with Paddy Power yet, then you can sign up via this site and get a free £20 when you register and bet £10. (All offers are only available to those aged 18 and over and are subject to Paddy Power’s terms and conditions.)

Sorry for repost, got lost at bottom of last one:

I need to ship out either Downing or Etherington for Lamps next week – was planning on getting rid of Ethers but with Stoke’s double coming up am unsure. Is Downing worth keeping?

Tough one that. I'd probably ship Downing because of the double.

So i'm thinking of bucking the trend and ditching Baines next week...how does this look?

    GW31: Arteta -> Adam
    GW32: Nasri & Baines -> Lampard & Luiz (4 points)
    GW33: Kolarov -> R Johnson

Just looking at some of the bets I have outstanding - some of 'em are pure daft
Blackburn to win the FA Cup €2 @40/1 (dunno why, it was before Sam got chopped, I had Newcastle at 50/1 too but Stevenage f**ked that up)
Barcelona to win the Euro Champions League €8 at 12/5
Rooney to be top scorer (E/W bet) €4 at 25/1
Carroll to be top scorer (E/W bet) €6 at 14/1 (placed when he was at Toon)
RVP top scorer €3.50 at 16/1 (P.P Special at the start of the season)
Drogba top scorer €5 at 6/1

    Oh dear.

Touché. But not only that, but it's presented as a special favour for us, but in reality, it's always something that seems highly unlikely to ever happen anyway.

Everyone jumped on a supposedly great deal for Torres to score 2 goals some time ago, and I wasn't at all surprised when it never happened.

It's much worse than working out what you think might happen and getting the odds, it's a package deal of "do you want to bet on this".

I wouldn't actually be surprised if the regular "non-special" odds are decreased artificially compared to other bookies to boost the appeal of the special odds.

Had some horrors myself, the most frustrating is an each way accumulator to win the 4 leagues (top 2 in Prem, top 3 in others)

      Chelsea QPR Huddesfield Bradford

Bloody Bradford could be the only ones to let me down, would have coined in a couple of grand from that!

Of course it's wrong you div. That's why I said "seemingly".
If he always picks 4 horses and ONE of them NEVER wins, then by taking the same selection of 4 horses and picking 3 of them, then you will win 25% of the time as opposed to never.

It's a throwaway comment comprising basic logic, not a real world scenario where I give betting tips.

Yeah, we were about 8 points off Chelsea at the time, but Alex had just got injured and Terry looked like he'd miss a few games so 7/2 was too good to miss.

We have been very predictable the last few weeks so its been easy to judge.

Not sure about remaining games as teams are fightin for their lives. This weekend i am tempted for a Lee Hughes anytime goal against us though.

What happens if 2 players from the same team are tied or close to the golden boot?

Say Berbatov is on 20 and Rooney is on 19 and Drogba is on 18. Who takes penalties for United in the final game of the season?

We're not like Chelsea, our penalty taker will take the penalty (unless the league is already wrapped up.)

Drogba went down so far in my estimation with his antics on that final game v Wigan last season.

    Foster
    Terry, Luiz, Coleman
    Nani, Adam, lampard, silva,Young
    Hernandez, Van Persie

    Subs: Alhabsi, Zigic, Walker, Huth

Thinking of shipping Zigic for Welbeck
    or hernandez to gyan?

favouring the Welbeck now with news of rvp being injured meaning if he doesnt play ill have welbeck and hernandez up front

Regarding abandonware; Usually I like to support the industry (those who deserve it) by voting with my wallet, but it's fair to say that while Castlevania Rondo of Blood is one of the finest games ever made, I can't justify spending £50+ for it, even if it will likely appreciate in value. Same for Rainbow Islands.

And the fact is, while I could even buy the game and then sell it on for around the same value, I've never been one to trade in games. I treat my videogames like I treat my books.

    Some interesting ones on PP:

    RVP top scorer 33/1
I know he's a crock, I know he's 9(?) goals behind, but if he stays fit theirs a small chance with Tevez off form, Berba out of favour.

Wigan Blackpool Blackburn to go down 18/1
Theirs a section to name the 3, I like the look of that.

There was once a poster called RBJ
Who decided that Applebonkers was gay
              He gets into a rage
              When posts are not sage
and vents his spleen all day. 🙂

i do like your rhyme, but my point is the AB is NOT gay, but is using the gay card to try get someone to come on ehre and call him gay, then he can slate them. Its quite intricate. we had a good convo last night in the early horus, theres no beef , just me trying to catch him out

RBJ, has apple ever actually responded to any of your gay talk? Unless posts were deleted overnight, all this is all there is:

You really should've placed a bet on pakistan from the moment you made the prediction, a couple weeks back.

What do you think the odds would've been 😆

This game is truly testing my sanity. I am contemplating completely restructuring my team with as many as seven or eight transfers. I can’t take my mind of the game. What a disaster!

all you need is to bring in a couple Chelsea players in the next 3 GWs, your team actually looks quite good to me!

I want to get rid of Tevez, but my closest (mini league) rival has him. Also a question mark hangs over Adam, yes or no, or hold of for one or two weeks.... Again my closest rival also has him.
