With the draw for the second round of the FFS Cup IV to come on Thursday, following last week’s results article, sandwiched between them we have the round up for the Members’ Paddy Power Cup. Last gameweek we had 16 Fantasy Managers looking for a spot in the Quarter-Finals, which boasted two of the top 50 in the world (who went head-to-head) and the reigning Fantasy Football Scout Cup champion. Along with the all-important Quarter-Final draw, here is how the last round unfolded…

In our blockbuster main event, 26th in the world Zophar squared-off against 31st in the world oi keano. A high-scoring affair saw Zophar come away a convincing 73 – 60 winner. That effort earned him a green arrow, putting him a season-high 17th overall. As for oi keano, his battle with Zophar perhaps isn’t over, after a solid score resulted in the rarest of beasts – a blue arrow. Good luck to both of them for the rest of the season.

That high-scoring fixture was bettered however, as The Hunt put his name firmly on the radar as he notched an almighty 84 points, despite only being able to field ten. With the best score not making the next round, his opponent Jwebber will feel slightly unlucky after his fine effort of 65.

The biggest name left in the competition has to be current FFS Cup III champion Gooner dave, and he powered through to the quarters with a comfortable 62 – 54 victory over FC Super-Hans.

Two of the eight ties were settled by very slender margins; two points separated Kippax Kloggers (57) and Stefan Kuntz (55), and just a single point split kapitdave (49) and Alchi-traz (48).

Onto the Quarter-Final draw then, and this is how they’ll face-off in Gameweek 31…

  1. Roostars Vs. ryangal1982
  2. Gooner dave Vs. Kippax Kloggers
  3. The Hunt Vs. canetoad
  4. Zophar Vs. kapitidave

So the big-hitters previously mentioned have avoided each other, but there’s no easy game at this stage of the tournament. Good luck to all eight quarter-finalists, and I’ll bring you news of how these fixtures played out a few days after the gameweek has concluded.

Once again, the prizes for the competition, provided by Paddy Power, are a free £150 bet for the winner, £75 for the runner-up and £50 for third place.

If you’re not with Paddy Power yet, then you can sign up via this site and get a free £20 when you register and bet £10. (All offers are only available to those aged 18 and over and are subject to Paddy Power’s terms and conditions.)

    berba/rvp/tevez

not too sure who to bench in defence this week and as you can see, i’m worried about my front 3! berba might not start, rvp is injured as is the little troll? should i take a hit to bring zigic in?

Eh? Ferguson's talk of 25 goals for Hernandez strongly suggests that he is ahead of the pecking order over Berbatov - that's surely a useful thread?

We could have added more detail perhaps but even so, the story is a good source I would say.

"When Javier scored his first goal in Houston, Paul told me after the game that he'd get 25 goals this season," the Reds boss said. "Paul is a quiet lad and doesn't say a lot, but he’s a fantastic judge.

"And with Hernandez now on 16 goals, with eight league games left and hopefully a few European and FA Cup ties, he could reach that tally and Scholes would be right. That's the way we're looking at him now – we're expecting that."

Ahh dont worry there is (slight) logic behind my question. I play with one big name striker normally and two cheapies for my bench, so that i can have 5 big name goalscoring midfielders. Im just looking ahead at the double in GW34 and wolves favourable fixtures and it just suits my price range/tactics to get in ebanks-blake but then fletchers presence worried me slightly

I dont think there is a definite better way of scoring points lol. I quite often do play 3-5-2 depending on fixtures i.e if one of my cheapie forwards has a better fixture than one of my defenders il chuck him in instead. The reason i opt for my approach is that i find i cant be fully satisfied with my whole team when ive got too much money tied up in my strikers but when i have the money that i save by only having one star striker i can.

England are an alright side, but firstly it's on the subcontinent so the local sides do have that advantage. Secondly I think we were a bit burnt out by the Ashes and a long series in Australia. We'd played a lot of cricket recently.
Sri Lanka and India are two very good sides though.

I still think the factors above have had a considerable effect though. But I agree we aren't a patch on Sri Lanka or India in this tournament.

Not really. The management and the captain have really screwed the team this World Cup, after some promising development. Put us back another two or three years ... imo. ðŸ™

I'm not disputing that, at all. However, I think that England's whole approach to this World Cup casts a sad shadow over both Flower and Strauss.

i think this is a lot of the problem. we need to differentiate between our test, one day and Twenty20 sides.

Heard this story in Canada about plans for an 'afro-centric' school coming under criticism. Here's a quote in it's defence:-

“I’m enraged at you guys for being against it — you have some nerve. It’s not white people dropping out, it’s blacks and it’s not our fault.”

    LOL.

tbh cricket is a game you can dip in and out of if you want (test especially) and then watch the highlights later.

Although imo watching live test cricket, especially the ashes or a big series, is epic! 😀

My point (which I think some people got confused by) is that capitalism is closer to natural human nature than any of the other orders, and that generally capitalist societies throughout history have been more 'advanced' in terms of technology etc.
I wasn't backing recent banking behaviour or anything like that. 🙂

Haha! That was my attempt at ridiculing anti-cricket paranoia. Although in blueteets defence i have to say its rather tiresome when you have posters only actually coming on here to talk about cricket by all means mention the cricket i dont mind and its doubtful you care if i mind lol but if its all you want to talk about isnt there another website? Or shall we just blame mark for not setting up a mini cricket forum within this site? Yeah i blame mark. Death to mark!

            Eh?

            Ps.
It's the cricket world cup semi final, there is an unofficial FFScout League in fantasy cricket - many posters here are interested in the game and there has been bugger all Premiership action this week.
Oh and you can always scroll past.

Well the official Man CIty site says the coach hopes for Tevez to be fit in two weeks. Cant get more official than that.

I am sorry but he will not play; he is probably still in Argentina

There are conflicting reports on Tevez. Earlier this week he had declared himself fit...

          http://menmedia.co.uk/manchestereveningnews/sport/football/manchester_city/s/1414728_yaya_toure_and_carlos_tevez_in_fitness_boost_for_manchester_city

Then a day later we saw a report from the Telegraph stating that Mancini hoped to have him back for the Liverpool game on April 11.

          http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/columnists/mark-ogden/8412011/Manchester-City-defender-Jerome-Boateng-faces-surgery-as-Roberto-Mancini-tackles-defensive-crisis.html

We tweeted both and will keep you updated.

    Front 8 of

    VDV Nasri Lampard Barton Young

    Saha Rooney Defoe

Only 0.4 in the bank so looking for a 4 pointer to bring RVP in for Saha (assuming fit)

Can't decide whether to downgrade a midfielder or Defoe to raise the cash.

At the moment I am oscillating between.

    VDV to o'hara

    or

    Defoe to Welbeck

    Please help..

      Rather have VdV than Defoe.

However, Defoe has a dgw which was prob why you got him in in the first place.

I'll suggest you take out Young for O'Hara and then do Saha to van Persie.

That way you gain another dgw'er instead of losing one.

Cheers gents. The fact you both went for different options reflects my dilemma.

nomar, Young was certainly in the firing line but played well yesterday and has been a missed penalty and some woodwork away from garnering a reasonable haul over the last few weeks.

I also think VDV may be subject to rotation over the next few weeks as we have the Real Madrid games. Harry tends to go with Crouch/VDV in Europe so Defoe may be a little safer. Maybe?

I am definitely no nearer making a decision. LOL

Bowlers sometimes get stopped from bowling for running on to the wicket, but no-one's ever been sent off to my knowledge. I'm not sure if that's even something the umpires can do.

I don't think I've ever heard of it. Though generally cricket is played by less yobbish numpties than football. Not that many Balotelli's, Rooney's etc playing it.
