As mentioned earlier in the week, the guys at Player Manager have set up a Scout League tournament with £400 in prizes up for grabs.

The League will start this weekend (gameweek 31) and will run until the end of the season. The league placings will be calculated using the best score from all your solo games each gameweek (friends leagues don’t count) and the best 4 of these determines your position on the leaderboard.

Those who wish to enter the Scout League for this tournament can do so by emailing “In” to this address scout@playermanager.com. Make sure you send it from the address you’ll be using at Player Manager. Scores will only count after you send the email.

Want more details? Here’s a full FAQ on the tournament from Player Manager

Q. How much will it cost me to enter?
A. There’s no entry fee for the league tournament but you will need to register at least 4 scores over 4 different gameweeks between now and the end of the season to qualify. That means entering at least 4 Solo Game teams costing 10 credits or £1 each.

Q. Can I enter multiple teams?
A. Absolutely – one of the unique benefits of Player Manager is that, once you’ve designed your master list of players, it’s dead easy to generate multiple teams. So, in the Scout League, you can register as many scores with as many teams as you like over the 8 remaining gameweeks but only the best score from 4 gameweeks will contribute towards your standing.

Q. What happens if 2, 3 or 4 of my highest scoring teams overall are from the same gameweek?
A. Only the best score from each gameweek is used to calculate your score

Q. What if I miss, or have a low-scoring, gameweek?
A. That doesn’t matter – you just have to enter teams in 4 out of the 8 remaining gameweeks in the season.

Q. How long will entry be open?
A. We’re only at gameweek 31 with 8 rounds to go. That means you have until the close of gameweek 35 – 11.30am on Saturday, April 30 – to enter. But entering later gives you less chances at posting a high gameweek score.

Q. Will there be a league table?
A. Yes. You’ll receive a link to the full table in an email from Player Manager once the scores are finalised early next week. We’ll also look to publish standings right here once a couple of gameweeks have passed.

Q. Do you include scores from private (friends) leagues?
A. No – its solo games (which are against random opponents) only.

Q. I’ve signed up. What now?
A. Log in and hit the “manage my player list” button to go to your Player Station. Start putting your player list together based on this week’s fixtures. You can use the “AUTO-FILL” button to get you started with 33 in-form players. Once you’ve listed your players you just need to assign ranks (order of preference in auction) and add a max bid.

Q. What sort of maximum bid should I set for players?
A. The “Avg” column shows you the average price each player went for last gameweek.

Q. Can only one person (i.e. whoever makes the highest bid) own a certain player within each 5, 10 or 15-person league? And can we fill the Player List with as many players as we like?

A. Yes and yes.

Q. What is the difference between these 5, 10 and 15-person leagues and the Scout league?
A. You play your solo games in leagues of 5, 10 or 15 people. The best score from any of these leagues in a gameweek is taken as your score for the Scout league.

Q. Is there a limit to the number of players we can have from any Premier League team?
A. No – its all down to your maximum bid (and remaining salary cap)

Q. Can I bid £100m for one player?
A. Almost. You can bid £90m on one player (there needs to be at least £1m reserved for every place in your team so that you get a squad of 11 players). Having said that, if the next highest bid for that player is £2m, you’ll get him for just £3m (just like eBay with automatic bidding increments of £1m).

Q. How do I pick my formation?
A. You don’t. You’re after the best players – not the best formation. Player Manager will automatically ensure that your team has a valid formation (3-5-2; 3-4-3; 4-5-1; 4-4-2; 4-3-3; 5-3-2; 5-4-1). For example, if you have already bought 3 strikers, you won’t be nominating or bidding for any more strikers.

Q. Can I see the maximum bids of other managers – either before or after the auction?
A. No – but you’ll get to see who every player was bought by, and at what price.

Q. How do I enter again?
A. Email scout@playermanager.com with the subject “In”. Be sure you are signed up to Player Manager using the same email address.

For those who want to know more, there’s a full FAQ about the game here.

      Team for this week:

      Hart (Reina)
      Simpson Coleman Luiz (Hangeland, Bardsley)
      Dempsey Nolan Adam Nasri Lampard

    I have:
    Tevez, Carroll, RVP

    Option 1: Tevez > Welbeck
    Option 2: Tevez > Suarez

1 means I have choice of VDV or Albrighton > Lamps next week, 2 means it would have to be Albright>Lamps.

Agree that Suarez is the better choice, even though Wellbeck has the fixtures. Suarez could score heavy and he's going to get BPs because of the way he plays and work rate.

Normally a bad idea to bench or sell players because they're getting loads of chances and missing them. Often a big score will be round the corner.

But I'm fine with the idea of selling A. Young.

Probably shifting him for cap room so they can bring in a big hitter for the dgw.

Plus, Villa really unreliable, as is Young, and many think Bent may end up on pens now.

Oh yeah, he has a dgw in 3 weeks time. Fabs and Walcott are now back. Look at his scores the last month or so. And that's without Fabs or Walcott. I hardly see how the return of those two is now going to suddenly turn Nasri into a points and bonus machine.

Even if Nasri's returns are a little more limited with Fabregas, Van Persie and Walcott in the side, last season they beat Blackburn 6-2.

With the form Blackburn are in I wouldn't be surprised if Arsenal with all their top players back hit Blackburn for four or five, surely Nasri would get in amongst that?

I've been saying this all week. Only thing stopping me getting him back now is uncertainty over his fitness.

Of course that defies the conventional wisdom of this week that suggests Suarez and Welbeck are better options, or something similar.

Welbeck means I have choice of VDV or Albrighton > Lamps next week,
Suarez or Hernandz means it would have to be Albright>Lamps.

Would definitely prefer to have Wellbeck and VDV then Suarez/Hernandez and Albrighton. Though if you'll end up benching Albrighton for the rest of your front 7 each week, then it might even it up a bit.

I'm not sure if I'm honest.

We have a horrific record against Liverpool in the PL, lost every game against them, scoring no goals and conceding 25 but we have broken many records this season.

Cheers for your thoughts. All this Suarez love on here is making me think why I've not really considered him. Tough few fixtures, I personally think waiting until GW34 or so is best with Liverpool. But time will tell I suppose.

I'm just going with Carroll, not great fixtures but 6.1 for a Liverpool striker is brilliant value at the end of the day.

Yeah I'm sticking with Carroll til the end of the season. Got in a bit early with him, but it's allowing time to maneouvre the funds around. Can see him finishing the season with 5 more goals, so pretty good for the price.

Yeah, you don't really need to bother with looking at the fixtures when it comes to a 6.1 Liverpool striker, bit of a luxury. 🙂

Not going with Bale at the start killed me, and captaining Torres against Everton instead of Nani against Albion isn't memorable.

Would you take Rooney out for Carroll for a hit this week?

If I'm to get Lampard next week then Rooney has to come out, and so I'm thinking I might as well just do it this week. I think both games (West Ham v United & WBA v Liv) will be tight if I'm honest, but Carroll's ability in the air will cause problems to West Brom I do feel.

Hello. Any chance for some input on my team? Here it is!

    Foster (Robinson)
Kolarov, Coleman, R Johnson (Simpson, Jiranek)
    Adam, VDV, Arshavin, Nani (Barton)
    Rooney, Van Persie, Berbatov

I guess my weak point is Berbatov. Would you guys sell him? Or perhaps I should ask if you think he has a good chance to start? If so I'd like to keep him.

I considered doing Arshavin+Berbatov to Lampard and one of Suarez or Carroll for a 4 pointer. Comments on that?

    Thanks

Looking at Berb's recent matches, only one 45+ minute outing in five. That's pretty poor, so he can't be worth his price. But wouldn't do Arshavin to Lampard this week, so maybe just Berbatov to Carroll?

Looks a strong team on paper this week Garg.

I personally think Berbatov will start tomorrow. Hernandez has played two games for Mexico practically half way around the world, while Berba has had his feet up. He's fresh and so I expect him and Rooney to start.

I'd keep Arshavin this week too. You'd expect him to start, and I fancy a big score from Arsenal tomorrow.

Who've you gone for in the Forward Thinking? Or is it hush hush? Brolin wants to catch you and Jampies up!! 🙂

Declan: I'm not so sure about Gyan, or more specifically Sunderland. I don't think they'll do great from now on to the end of this season.

Hmm, my cup opponent has him and I do fear what be might do but I'm not overly keen I'd rather have Fabs or Walcott if he gets his place back.

Point hits have been killing me the last 3 gw's

    2 x 8point hits, and 1 x 4 point hit

my question is.. Is it worth a 4 point hit to replace Gardner with Adam? Really got burned by Adam last gw, or I could just start zigic instead.. It's a tough one

    any opinions?

need to make some cash need to choose between

    a) VDV > Adam
    b) Mereiles/Downing > Albrighton or another 4.7m midfielder

    Thanks!

not much help on which to choose but if you do (b) i'd say albrighton or cleverley. cleverley has a good fixture gw33

having trouble deciding who to play out of ivanovic, vidic and coleman. bearing in mind i have huth starting.

I really think united will be reading all this stuff about west ham having a great chance of doing them, they might just give them a lesson

Reckon Utd will defo win but Hammers looked dangerous so think UTD might concede. Vidic always a chance of a goal as has Ivanovic. Not really helped any there have I lol

i would edge towards coleman = home fixture, attacking potential too (surely he will start or not play at all)

I can see West Ham scoring so Ivan as first sub maybe

I think Ivan has the best chance of a cleanie, Eveton rarely keep them and United generally concede away. All are attacking threats tho so it's tough.
