For those without Wayne Rooney owners, Saturday was a painful day (I bet you did better than me though). Hopefully there’s something on offer this Mothering Sunday, with two Premier League fixtures to close the gameweek out (good riddance).

The Dugout Discussion chatroom is open in time for Blackpool’s trip to Craven Cottage. The team sheets have been handed in and read like this…

Fulham XI: Schwarzer, Baird, Hughes, Hangeland, Salcido, Duff, Etuhu, Murphy, Dempsey, Zamora, Dembele

Blackpool XI: Kingson, Baptiste, Cathcart, Evatt, Crainey, Grandin, Adam, Vaughan, Ormerod, Beattie, Taylor-Fletcher

Fantasy favourites Charlie Adam and Clint Dempsey both feature as does Fulham striker Bobby Zamora. That’s his first league start since his injury back in gameweek three, and his presence relegates Andy Johnson to the bench. Other than that, Fulham line-up as expected.

As for the visitor’s, DJ Campbell competes his three-match suspension today, which allows Brett Ormerod to play alongside Gary Taylor-Fletcher and James Beattie up front.

On a more comical note, Fulham chairman Mohamed Al Fayed has erected a statue of Michael Jackson outside Craven Cottage. No, really.

That monstrosity aside, and it’s perhaps the final game of the day at Eastlands that has our interest, as Man City play hosts to Sunderland. Will Carlos Tevez’s owners be rewarded for holding on? I hope so.

ivanovic has been rotated twice in the last 3 games. add to that alex coming back and luiz being able to play rb and imo that's enough risk to avoid

You don't need to play him for those two fixtures. He'll be worth it later. It's also about time he downgraded his defense. There's way too much money invested in it.

Indeed, I'd like Wolves and Blackpool to stay up, the rest im not bothered, I'd like Wigan to go coz their not a proper club, even tho I like Martinez and Blackburn as I think Kean is a Douche.

I like the thought of possibly Mick, Holloway Jose & Warnock in the Prem next year for entertaininment value.

I dont feel I can get him back now, I made my (stupid) decision and I've gotta keep RVP (bla) Carroll (MANC) & Wellbeck (WBA) this week as it would be another hit to get Rooney back and those fixtures for my 3 ain't bad.

This week I'll either do nothing or bring Cech in this week and double up on Chelsea for Wigan.

Big inflection point this week or next is dropping two ASV guys or VDV plus one to get Lampard or maybe Drogba (now that Drogba is showing signs of life) and a DGW'er. Thinking about that. Thanks again.

Lescott definitely touched it, didnt really deviate too much. I suppose if most people had him instead of lolarov they would easily say it was a Lescott assist. I dont get how he got 3 bonus points and MOM from the sponsors at Man City in a 5-0 victory!

Sunderland are short of fit defenders (Bramble out, Bardsley went off at HT I think), but have great fixtures.

Begovic is an other option, rotates home and away perfectly with Foster and has a double in GW34.

      Yup. Class.

God how bad is the Wolves defence by the way. Look how easy Newcastle carve them up with 1 pass and 2 runs for the 3-0 goal. Through ball and suddenly Barton and Lövenkrans are 3 metres behind the Wolves defence with the ball.

They always play thar ridiculously high defensive line, and it doesn't work against all teams.

              🙂

I love George Elokobi. I really do. He's just not suited for playing a high defensive line.

The benefit of doing that is that against better sides Wolves never end up being pushed back in the same way as other poorish teams do, but the drawback is that they're badly exposed by teams just going for the through ball inside the full back time and time again.

He gets the opportunity to make so many saves which he wouldn't get at better clubs. Last year at United he didn't look a good keeper.

The key to be a world class keeper is concentration, it's having 89 mins of doing nothing but being ready to pull off one or two class saves, it's whether Foster can do that. Plus u also have to have quality distribution to set attacking going like Schmichael(SP) had and VDS, Reina etc have.

good point, may have been playing on the ref's mind a bit. they've shown that 'goal' still a few times now and i still don't see how moyes, the MOTD crew etc are so sure it was in. imo it looks like a bit of the ball is hanging over the line, as far as i know this means no goal

Needed some more replays as it wasnt clear when I watched it on MOTD. Was never a penalty for me but I think the ref had it in his mind and was going to give one. Worst one was the Blackpool penalty against Blackburn!

Just to put in my two cents on the rooney incident:

The FA have no case for a ban if they are truly representing English football as is. This is because of the sheer number of obscene and offensive chants (all audible on television) which you hear at grounds up and down the country week in and week out. If the fans don't support the use of appropriate language in football then the FA have no real case in bnning the player. At the most a fine and a strongly worded statement to set a precedent and a message would suffice.

Obviously I don't support what rooney did, but neither do I support the sort of chants which were being made at the same ground on the same day.
