The FA have confirmed that Wayne Rooney will serve a two-match ban.

Rooney had previously admitted the charge for the use of offensive, insulting and / or abusive language at Upton Park last weekend, but the striker argued that the two game penalty was unfair.

The charge has immediate effect and Rooney will now miss Manchester United’s next two matches: Saturday’s Premier League clash against Fulham and their FA Cup semi-final against Manchester City. The forward is hot property at the moment in the Fantasy Premier League which he demonstrated by scoring a hat-trick in the aforementioned game with West Ham. He continued his sublime form last night by netting the only goal during the 1-0 Champions League victory over Chelsea.

United have released this statement:

“Manchester United is clearly very disappointed with the Regulatory Commission’s decision. The Club put forward a very strong case to have the punishment reduced, which was unsuccessful. Wayne Rooney apologised immediately after the match and the Club now wishes to move to on to what hopefully will be a very exciting conclusion to the season.”

Fantasy Managers will now have to consider the impact on United’s lineup against Fulham – presumably this will see a start for Dimitar Berbatov who was benched for last night’s Champions League victory, while Javier Hernandez would also seem set to retain his starting role if Alex Ferguson goes with a 4-4-2. Short-term interest in both could therefore increase as a result.

johnfinlay John swears he'll deliver unbiased Fantasy Premier League tips and news...until Leeds get promoted.

    Sorry for double post, it got lost on the old article:

    Care to give me some general advice on transfers guys? Team link in my user name.

    I am 10th in my mini league with the heights of it still up to grabs. I have 2 free transfers this week, what would you do?

    Transfers i have considered are downgrading Rooney for cash, maybe to Gyan or Bent. Thought about getting Shezny for Cech, and Luiz for Kelly. I could do all of those for a 4pt hit.

    Anyway, comments and suggestions much appreciated.

        Cheers Soop. You think its worth all for this week, rather than two now and one next GW?

        Suppose doing it all in one go might mean i can save a transfer next week.

    need some convincing on which transfer to do
    Now Rooney suspension confirmed

    Please help me select
    A Rooney -> Drogba
    B Rooney -> Bent (what to do with 5 mill after)
    C Zigic -> Gyan

    Foster (Begovic)
    Huth Coleman Luiz (Kelly Simpson)
    Nani Nasri Lampard Adam Brunt
    RVP Zigic (Rooney)

    2 mill in bank

      I probably wouldn't do anything: Zigic has that double coming up, Sunderland aren't creating, Drogba is still a bit of a risk and you have no plan for the 5mil you'd get from bringing in Bent.

        Yeah, Rooney is one not to be missed. Silva>Lampard, Tevez>Rooney and I'll be losing VDV (think for Hitzel) and Kolarov (Carr with a double) to fund it. It costs 8 points, but Rooney is looking like he'll be top points scorer til the end of the season.

    This week: (2 free)
    Kolarov => Luiz

    Next week: (4pt hit)
    VDV => Lampard
    Nani => Walcott

    Team for GW33:
    Foster* (Begovic)

    My mind is pretty much made allready, but I would like to know what you guys think.

    I have both torres and rooney and I am transfering rooney out to fund lampard in.

    Makes sense 'cos;
    - rooney misses gw32
    - torres has double gw33
    - torres/rooney will be changed to tevez at gw35
    - I am captaining lamp for gw32-34

    So only real worry is gw34, but I am hoping that by then torres have finally scored and che are also out of champs league.....well maybe worry is also rested rooney against newcastle in gw33....and resting torres in gw32....

    So rooney out, yes or no?

    ive played my 3rd Wildcard!!!!

    ok, ok its a 12 point hit, but it sure feels like a WC.

    please unleash your fury on a team that is set for this week, next week, and I am hoping outside of a little tinkering, set for the run in.

    Mignolet

    Luiz, Coleman, Carr, Walker, Simpson

    Lampard, Nani, VDV, Nasri, Adam

    Rooney, RVP, Gyan

    was criticized for having too many attacking options, wondering who to bench every week. my thought is, out of eight players, any given week one of them isnt playing for one reason or another, Rooney this week for example. but these are 8 guys I feel id keep if they missed a week or hit a spell of bad form. if one has a major injury, i dont have to kneejerk immediately for a replacement. probably foolish thinking but i feel I can concentrate on bringing in defenders for the rest of the season to try and find those coveted cheap clean sheets.
    I think after arsenals double, I will drop nasri for dempsey w/ fulhams double, hell i may gradually downgrade nani, vdv and nasri, to valencia, bale and walcott. so many variables to play out, cant plan for everything, but i feel eerily satisfied with my 12 point loss.

    Cue saturday afternoon meltdown.

      I can't remember but did Wellbeck not tectonically start on the wing against Liverpool? If so he still found himself in the box a fair bit. I'm gonna give him a few weeks then if he's not doin the business go for Zamora / Ebanks Blake.

        Yeah zamora looks a good shout for dgw. To be fair wellbeck got a lot of points from the wing earlier in the season so it's not all doom and gloom just be more confident with him playing up top

      Nope. Wouldn't do that in a million years, both Hernandez and Berbatov are too rotatable. You need guaranteed starters, besides United's fixtures aren't that great.

    So are we any wiser as to why the form player for the season Nani was rested last night, again? No doubting that Park and Valencia filled the void nicely but it seems odd that he has been rested two games in a row now, is it simply a case of him playing more minutes than any other midfielder this season and earning a well and truly deserved rest, or is it a niggle?

      I thought you'd be telling us what the deal was JU!!!!

      Im hoping SAF is getting talent on the pitch that have been unavailable for a long stretch of the season, so he can have a plethora of weapons. I belive he still thinks nani is weapon #1, and its a combination of rest and getting his other mids up to speed.

        I think SAF tends to like the work rate of Park and Valencia in the big games. He probably needed to play them both at West Ham to improve their match fitness. I'd guess Nani will return to the starting line-up against Fulham on Saturday.

      My thoughts are on the last article, I think it's for resting / motivational purposes as he hasn't been quite as good since coming back from injury, Park & Valencia can do the defensive duties better and I reckon he was slightly doubtful for WHU, if he doesn't start at the weekend I'll be amazed and then worried.

    What are people doing with Wayne now? Plan was to get Lamps in this week but not sure how now I could:

    A) Keep him and bench him, and play 4-5-1 this GW
    B) Get Rid for Hernandez and do vdv -> Lamps
    C) Get rid of Nani & VDV -> Lamps & Johnson/O'hara, leaving me with no Utd coverage this week.

      I'm planning on swapping Roon for Odem & bringing in Lamps for Ethers. Good idea? Got no replies above.

      B) sounds your best option above but maybe someone else instead of Hernandez?

        The form Rooney is in i don't think it's a great idea to get rid. He only missed one league game and then faces Newcastle away, those volleys are in the back of my mind!

          I am leaving him on the bench, if he missed 2 premiership games the decision would be easy at this stage of the season but the fact of the matter is that Fulham will be hard to break down even at OT and I am happy with my two freebies to freshen up the team.

          I think it is a waste of 2 transfers taking him out and then bringing him back in at this point of the campaign, keep.
