The second day of a Gameweek that stretches across three, presents us with a double-bill of meaningful Premier League fixtures. First up we’re at Bloomfield Road to see if Arsenal can keep up the pace with league leaders against a plucky Blackpool side. The hosts are in the middle of an intriguing relegation battle, and will be desperate to build some confidence at home as they begin a four-game home stint. The Dugout Discussion chatroom is open for business, where you can follow the action as it happens.

The team news is in and here is how they line-up…

Blackpool XI: Kingson, Baptiste, Evatt, Cathcart, Crainey, Adam, Southern, Taylor-Fletcher, Puncheon, Campbell, Varney

Arsenal XI: Lehmann, Eboue, Squillaci, Koscielny, Clichy, Diaby, Fabregas, Wilshere, Nasri, van Persie, Arshavin

The Seasiders welcome back their star striker DJ Campbell from suspension, who will be raring to go having missed the last three. The only deviation from the eleven we expected is that Keith Southern starts at the expense of Elliot Grandin.

As for the visitors, Arsene Wegner opts to leave Theo Walcott on the bench despite the damage he inflicted on Blackpool at the Emirates. Bacary Sagna isn’t passed fit so Emmanuel Eboue starts at right-back, and a late injury in the warm-up for Manuel Almunia sees Jens Lehmann come in. What a story.

Following that game, Aston Villa are also seeking survival (and revenge for the reverse fixture this season) against their opponents today . Newcastle United are so close to that widely-regarded safety-mark of 40 points, so we should expect both sides to be going for the points.

Once again, the Dugout Discussion chatroom is open and available by clicking here.

Lost count of the number of GW's I would've scored better if I'd just left my team alone. Getting Adam in was dumb, and switching captain to Lamps was dumber. What's a decent score looking like this week - just got in?

but with zabs return and mancini's praise for johnson, mr kolorov is likely to find himself on the bench tomorrow.

So Mancini will play 2 players out of position 2mor (moving Zabeleta a right back in the first place to left back and Boyata a centre back to play again in right back) all so he can drop playing his left back at left back

Kolarov will play left back and Zabeleta if he is fit will play Right back. Pretty simple really.

You're missing the point, Kolarov is a left back, he was covering left mid while City were short of attacking options. Richards & Boeteng are both injured so the only person he can be dropped for is Boyata which is highly unlikely as he's a CB.

hilarious how people without kolarov say he'll be rested, and try to contrive some shite out of nowhere to bac it up.

He's not being forced to do anything. Kolarov has been his first choice left back for most of the season, he's missed games because he was injured.

Right then: VDV -> Malouda or Tevez -> Drogba this week then?

If I go the Drogba route I'll go for him straight out next week for Sturridge and then either Sturridge or Beckford out for Tevez week after.

It is a nonsense. I wonder if given the choice Blackpool would want the penalty and a sending off rather than the goal, considering Arsenal had no replacement keeper (RVP was the 2nd keeper)

a red card is whne you deny a goalscoring opportunity. If you only attempt (i.e. fail) to deny one, it's a yellow card.

Is there not an argument that he denied DJ Campbell a goalscoring opportunity, and everything after that is irrelevant?

Wilshere was retrospectively booked for his tackle a few seconds before the goal, even though his tackle did nothing to stop Blackpool from scoring, much like Lehmann's tackle.

It's one that comes up on those You Are The Ref things quite a lot. It's only a red card if you successfully deny the goalscoring opportunity.

In that case, the referee stops the game and the goal doesn't count. While, as Granville Points out above, on this occasion it would have been more beneficial to Blackpool for them to have got the penalty and red card, most instances don't work like that.

Blackpool couldn't have had it both ways. The ball fell to GTF, so Lehmann's foul in itself didn't deny a clear goalscoring opportunity.

yachvilli cost me a fortune there....

and the ball in their hands, and they kick it away with 40 seconds lift. the colective intelligence is just unreal- thick stupid f**king rugby players.

anyway, Locarno, extra time now-whats your opinion..... have a winning margin bet, 1-12 points on Biarritz. You reckon its a winner still? it said NOTHING on the website about 80 minutes in the winning margin section...

i know, what was he thinking...stupid fuk. and the guy with 40 minutes to go, hoofs it back to toulouse, instead of runnin it. And balshaw, my god. ive never seen a fullbac less inclined to attack in my life. they had the chance to rin with the ball umpteen times, and he just stood there, looking at the ground. i almost punched my laptop off my lap. it was the most frustrating play ive ever seen.

The general idiocy on that pitch is simply gobsmacking., mainly from Biarritz, stupid, stupid, people.

and they didnt say anything about 80 mins, only winning margin draw etc. BUT, the fact they didnt dicatate on that market whether extra timne counts, migh work in my favour.

also, ivf i get there early enoguh in the morning, if biarritz win of course, ill get them to bring up the result on the net (doubt theyll be settled) and i might get paid that way, theyll jsut see the result.
