The second day of a Gameweek that stretches across three, presents us with a double-bill of meaningful Premier League fixtures. First up we’re at Bloomfield Road to see if Arsenal can keep up the pace with league leaders against a plucky Blackpool side. The hosts are in the middle of an intriguing relegation battle, and will be desperate to build some confidence at home as they begin a four-game home stint. The Dugout Discussion chatroom is open for business, where you can follow the action as it happens.

The team news is in and here is how they line-up…

Blackpool XI: Kingson, Baptiste, Evatt, Cathcart, Crainey, Adam, Southern, Taylor-Fletcher, Puncheon, Campbell, Varney

Arsenal XI: Lehmann, Eboue, Squillaci, Koscielny, Clichy, Diaby, Fabregas, Wilshere, Nasri, van Persie, Arshavin

The Seasiders welcome back their star striker DJ Campbell from suspension, who will be raring to go having missed the last three. The only deviation from the eleven we expected is that Keith Southern starts at the expense of Elliot Grandin.

As for the visitors, Arsene Wegner opts to leave Theo Walcott on the bench despite the damage he inflicted on Blackpool at the Emirates. Bacary Sagna isn’t passed fit so Emmanuel Eboue starts at right-back, and a late injury in the warm-up for Manuel Almunia sees Jens Lehmann come in. What a story.

Following that game, Aston Villa are also seeking survival (and revenge for the reverse fixture this season) against their opponents today . Newcastle United are so close to that widely-regarded safety-mark of 40 points, so we should expect both sides to be going for the points.

Once again, the Dugout Discussion chatroom is open and available by clicking here.

I think that there team and tactics will see them avoid the drop.

I really want Wigan to go down big time. Beyond them, Wolves and Blackburn would be my choices.

As a Bolton fan I'd love West Ham to stay up. 6 points a season is always great

It's a bit of a feedback loop, you start doing well so you pay more attention. You stop doing dodgy transfers because you don't need to. You start watching MOTD with an eye to spotting FF talent. You start analysing OPTA data and the fixtures. If you don't get off to a flyer ... you probably don't bother with those things.

For me, that's the difference between a really good season and a regular one (also I've had 2 seasons where I've had a child right at the beginning of the season ... that puts a bit of a spanner in the works).

A man named Richard Power Died this week, a farmer who founded ICABS (Irish council against bloodsports),age 84, obituary in the times.... A beautiful quote from him-" I think blood sport entusiast reject drag-hunting,instead of live hunting, because it fails to satisfy the desire to punish a fellow creature, the desire to put death,in the place of life". Fair play to him, he's dead right about the pieces of shit.

in ligh of 2 horses dead this grandnational national hunt day, and 20 since 2000, i think this is extremely timely. Fair play to the man for putting a succinct and accurate label on a bunch of stupid, somewhat evil, bastards.

I must admit, for the first time yesterday I had a deep sense of 'should this race really be banned'. I dont know if it was because I was watching in retrospect of knowing two had died (I was at the game so didn't see it live) or whether I'm getting old or whatever, the sight of two horses in covers as the race swept passed them just wasn't pleasant at all.

However, I do think owners have to take some responsibility. Some horses should never be allowed in the National and I think it sometimes becomes a pursuit to get a horse in the race when clearly that horse isn't good enough to be sent out there.

Following on from RBJ's rant post, my main gripes are dodgy bonus points and the automatic captain replacement. You should have to select your replacement - thereby ending some jammy sod ending up with 34 points from Rooney when they'd probably forgotten he was even on their bench.

    Otherwise 70% luck, 30% skill and it's a laugh.

i was jsut so amazed at how stupid they were. it was a bizarre bizarre game of rugby. weirdest ive ever seen.

anyway, Leinster will purder toulouse in Dublin, revenge for last year. TOulosue would have been beaten by any team today with a back division half as good as Leinster have. Theyre a waning force, i still firmly believe it. Hoping the bookies keep looikng at their name and give me a handicap of 3 or four. Ill be f*king lumping into that for Lienster if it is.

dont suggest making sweeping changes - never a good idea.

      next transfer im thinking:

bpool - campbell or adam (good run of winnable fixtures coming up)

steinsson could be decent replacement for djourou with dgw for bolton on horizon. dont think djourou will be rushed back quickly.

also tottenham v arsenal - could be exactly what tottenham need to get themselves back up for it after goin out of champions league (barring a miracle). would not rule them out of getting a gd result against gunners, especially if sagna still out, squillaci plays and if goalkeeper position still questionable. Bale to com storming back to form?

My team looks anything but nicely placed, but my anti-differentials - not wasting money on Lampard or Fabregas - have worked so far.

But I've been carrying Lennon for too long, and Torres is starting to get on my tits.

I still had my WC and my lead in the mini league was reduced to 20 points or so. It was sqeeky bum time and I thought Fat Frank and Fabs would be a good shout to get me some breathing space. One of them will go prob for Nani at some point.

Even though I did not gain a whole lot this week I should over the next few.

It's very hard to move upwards in the top 2k region, Locarno. The average score is very big. Good luck, though. I have a soft spot for you since that spoof BBC report about me being killed changing a lightbulb 🙂

🙂 Felt a bit guilty about that. It's like saying to a mate about to fly to the U.S: 'Don't worry - the plane probably won't crash'. You're on tenterhooks till they land...

Damn, should have kept Berba and just done Saha-->Sturridge. Would have been sooo sweet.

    Not complaining though.

Conservative choice is Lampard, at least he'll get 5 or 6 points if all else fails.

A risky Cesc, though Lamps is the obvious choice. Can anybody try to explain my mentality when I brought Anelka....hhmmmmm

Ha! We're in competition now Inalize! But I honestly haven't decided. Maybe something will happen during the week to clear things up, like an injury or a meteorite.

i fancy arsenal to beat liverpool (definitely score at least). liverpool got defensive problems. i know arsenal do to but i think they will score at least.

arsenal away to tottenham = guaranteed goals.

rvp is the captain and always involved.

          he will do the business...

Has to be a Chelsea player, surely.

        I've got Torres and Luiz...

        So I'm captaining Foster. 🙂

I can't afford Lampard, so I'll go with David Luiz. Cheslea's defence looks more solid than their attack right now. Plus Luiz is in pretty good form.

Luiz could also do ok as he is sucking up the BP's and could also Get a goal or assist.
