The second day of a Gameweek that stretches across three, presents us with a double-bill of meaningful Premier League fixtures. First up we’re at Bloomfield Road to see if Arsenal can keep up the pace with league leaders against a plucky Blackpool side. The hosts are in the middle of an intriguing relegation battle, and will be desperate to build some confidence at home as they begin a four-game home stint. The Dugout Discussion chatroom is open for business, where you can follow the action as it happens.

The team news is in and here is how they line-up…

Blackpool XI: Kingson, Baptiste, Evatt, Cathcart, Crainey, Adam, Southern, Taylor-Fletcher, Puncheon, Campbell, Varney

Arsenal XI: Lehmann, Eboue, Squillaci, Koscielny, Clichy, Diaby, Fabregas, Wilshere, Nasri, van Persie, Arshavin

The Seasiders welcome back their star striker DJ Campbell from suspension, who will be raring to go having missed the last three. The only deviation from the eleven we expected is that Keith Southern starts at the expense of Elliot Grandin.

As for the visitors, Arsene Wegner opts to leave Theo Walcott on the bench despite the damage he inflicted on Blackpool at the Emirates. Bacary Sagna isn’t passed fit so Emmanuel Eboue starts at right-back, and a late injury in the warm-up for Manuel Almunia sees Jens Lehmann come in. What a story.

Following that game, Aston Villa are also seeking survival (and revenge for the reverse fixture this season) against their opponents today . Newcastle United are so close to that widely-regarded safety-mark of 40 points, so we should expect both sides to be going for the points.

Once again, the Dugout Discussion chatroom is open and available by clicking here.

Danny Higginbotham has an injury that put him out for the season - according to the commentary (and our Injuries & Bans).

He might do but Danny Collins could just as easily come in any game now, you can take the FA Cup semi and see at least.

Yeah, same here. Will get in Jarvis or O'Hara for him after GW33.

He was great at the start of the season because he was greedier then and wanted to take shots, but he's not doing that now. If he was as greedy as Nani, he'd probably be top scorer in FPL.

But, I couldn't put it any better than what AP says right below.

By your logic there would hardly be any free-kicks in a game if the ball had just about been played elsewhere, or just away from the person being fouled. 😕

It was a millisecond before that he touched the ball to whoever it was. It's like saying if a player rounds the keeper and its brought down it's not a pen because he's played the ball.

The ref didnt give that because he'd already played the ball. Otherwise it was a pen.

By the way, Arsenal's defence was shocking today, United are clearly going to win the title.

The only thing about Sturridge is his fixtures.

Not a great run coming up for the Trotters, which may curtail his free scoring ways.

Zamora appears to be the best option for gw34.

frustratingly (becuase i think he is a big game player) all his goals this season haven't been against very good opposition

I'd probably be 50/50 whether to get Lampard if I didn't already have him, Chelsea are just poor this season, I'd invest in their defence though.

Jeez. One of my friends had a tenner each way on two horses yesterday, one of which was Ballabriggs and another (whichever one finished third - the name escapes me).

Aaaaaand he won just a little over £2,150 from a £1 footy accumulator!!! Such a jammy sod at times.

Oh, definitely. Always good to see the bookies getting a nasty beating. 😀

Ridiculously lucky though, as it was 'only' 10 games (four of which he called a draw), so none were heavily odds on. Majority of the time a good few games would've cocked it up for him, given the odds. Quite a pay day.
