It has been revealed that Manchester City will be without influential captain Carlos Tevez for the next three to four weeks.

Having injured his hamstring in Monday evening’s defeat at the hands of Liverpool, the Argentine forward and looks set to miss the side’s next couple of fixtures – including this weekend’s FA Cup Semi Final showdown with Manchester United and, more crucially for Fantasy Managers, potentially a handful of Premier League fixtures from gameweek 34 onwards that reads (bla, WHM, eve &TOT, STK, bol).

Manager Roberto Mancini confirmed the injury:

“Tevez is not available for Saturday. I think he will recover in three or four weeks. It is a big problem but we can’t take any risks.”

Coming at time where both Chelsea and Arsenal have a double gameweek, this will surely see the City striker’s Fantasy Owners look for alternatives and propel the likes of Didier Drogba, Robin Van Persie and maybe even Fernando Torres onto many a radar ahead of this weekend. Despite being the top-owned forward in the game, Tevez has been sold by over 200,000 Fantasy Managers in the last three gameweeks, with his price dropping 0.3 in the process. With so much doubt over his availability, expect that price to continue to plummet.

City fans will now be pinning their hopes on Edin Dzeko and Mario Balotelli in the crucial Manchester derby this Saturday and beyond, as the Eastlands battle Spurs for that all-important fourth spot in the Premier League. Coming in at 8.6 and 7.9 in Fantasy Premier League respectively, this could now be the pair’s chance to shine in what has proved to be a difficult first season in England for both. With City facing a double gameweek 36 on the back of a home game with West Ham, expect investment in the pair to increase over the next couple of weeks.

More to follow…

johnfinlay John swears he'll deliver unbiased Fantasy Premier League tips and news...until Leeds get promoted.

Yeah possible he could be out for the following as well really, but players seem to be recovering a lot faster nowadays. Either people are terrible at predicting, or there is some form of miracle muscle cream we don't know about...

The other downside is my mini league rival will now almost certainly bring in drogba. He's pretty much the only big name dgw player I haven't got and he has the potential to explode. Hopefully not this gw!

Hi Demented Falingo, i had a look at your ranking this morning!

Yeah, neck and neck. I messed up last week. Should have kept Berba and bought sturridge instead of welbeck.

Guys need some advise on transfers, should I do:

    A) VDV and Tevez to Lampard and Carroll

(If I do this I will keep Barton on my bench for next two weeks)

    or

    B) Barton and Tevez to Lampard and Hoilett

(If I do this I will keep Barton on my bench for next two weeks)

    Foster Al-Habsi
    Vidic Luiz Coleman Kelly Walker
    Barton Nani Fabregas VDV Adam

    VdS,Wiland,
    Marcelo,Papadopoulos,VIDIC,MAXWELL,ESCUDERO,

    Messi,Ronaldo,BENZEMA.

This team does look good, but a bit too heavy on the schalke cover. Maybe going with valencia instead of schmitz and also i wouldn't advise keeping benzema as adebayor is looking good and higuain is also back.

Maybe swap him for hernandez ?

Nani out, VDV out? Worth it for 4 point hits? This is the big questions this week!

If I take VDV/Nani out who to bring in! Most have lampard, so it would be nasri!

So Nani or VDV out for Nasri worth 4 points????

I can't disagree he's playing poorly but he's still getting in the positions to score/assist. Also, he's on set pieces and pens. He's one of those players that could go bananas at any given time. A big risk taking him out.

Can't afford to be waiting on players to come good at this stage. All about points on the board. You're right he probably will come good at some point in next few games but there's too many other options out there. I plan on bringing him back for the double if form does pick up. I'd say him and tevez if fit are the two essentials that gw

Reduces rotation risk yeah, but VDV has looked utterly toothless for a good few months now; with there being plenty of on-form mids just now, he's taking up a valuable midfield spot in my team and doing feck all (also goes for Nasri). VDV is likely out of my team next week for Dempsey, unless he has a stormer against l'Arse.

Waiting till Chelsea press conference tomorrow in case of any injury news, though how can I best bring in Lampard with 2 free transfers this week and 1.6 in the bank. I reckon

    1. A Young to Lampard
    2. Nasri to Wilshere

    Foster (Freidel)
    Luiz, Distin, Bardsley (Hughes, Djourou)

worth -4 (making cumulative hit for gw -8) to do

    a) nani -> adam
    b) young -> adam
    c) vdv -> adam
    or
    d) nasri -> adam (see the pattern emerging?)

just feeling that i’ve got to have adam, as my mini league lead is 16 points and 2nd place has adam, nani, vdv and nasri.

    i guess the question is:

will malouda and young be enough to cover adam and downing?

Do we know if Djourou will start at the weekend? Might be taking out Coleman for him if that is the case. Arsenal have kept a f*ckton of cleanies with Djourou and Zesny in the team.

    lampard, bale, nasri, adam
    caroll, rooney, RVP(C)
    subs: VDS, nolan, walker, hughes

got 0.3 left with 2 free transfers. should i do anything or just leave it, obviously i will be losing a transfer if i dont.

Looks like you have 5 good double gameweek players, which is good.

I would recommend using 1 transfer and doing Nolan > Wilshere/Song

      OR walker> Djourou

Right Lampard set as captain, only reason being RVP isn't really proven against good teams as of yet, only 2 decent teams Arsenal have played Premiership-wise with him playing have been Chelsea and City.

    Chelsea - 1 point
    Man City - 2 points

Lampard still a huge risk...but it could pay off!

Hahaha Fratboy I have been watching you repeatedly change your mind on this captaincy issue for a few days now.

If you got Lampard in recent weeks you have essentially already placed your eggs in one 13m basket, so us Lampardonians need to put up or shut up.

Lamps for captain this gameweek. Do it.

One of RVP's games is against Spurs though. Arsenal and spurs games are historically extremely goaladabadozy.

Want the transfers I make in the next few weeks to be end-of-season. Which defenders should I bring in for the duration to improve this defence?

    Luiz - Huth - Kolarov - Coleman - Djourou

You can't. 3 of those have def double and you might hit jackpot with Djourou.

      Only "weak link" is Coleman.

Good point. Kolarov's fixtures are pretty good too. Might get Huth out after his double, but that's a ways away.

Who would you get in for Coleman?

Normally my 2 transfers this week would be Tevez > Drogba and Etherinton > Adam but Drogba still worries me. which leads me to Etherigton > Lampard and Tevez > Carroll but Lampard has been doing nothing lately.

Should i go with my first option and hope Drogba starts both games?

I went with Drogba over Lampard, but I think it depends on how big your balls are 😀 I also got in Adam this week, because that fixture list is juicy as heeell.

So definitely the first option imo!

I am going with the Ivorian.
Figure he can score more points in 90 mins than lampard will in 450[or Hope so :D]

    Current team:

    Foster Al-Habsi
    Vidic Luiz Coleman Kelly Walker
    Barton Nani Fabregas VDV Adam
    RVP Odemwingie Tevez

Need some advise on transfers, should I do:

    A) VDV and Tevez to Lampard and Carroll

(If I do this I will keep Barton on my bench for next two weeks)

    or

    B) Barton and Tevez to Lampard and Hoilett

(If I do this I will keep Hoilett on my bench for next two weeks)
