There’s just one Premier League fixture this fine Tuesday night, as Manchester United look to strengthen their grip on the title with a visit up to St. James Park and Newcastle United. The Dugout Discussion chatroom has been opened, and offers you a place for your musings as the action unfolds.

As is unfortunately the norm nowadays, there have been one or two differing team sheets for tonight’s game being passed about on Twitter, but this is how they line-up…

Newcastle XI: Krul, Simpson, Williamson, Coloccini, Jose Enrique, Barton, Guthrie, Tiote, Gutierrez, Lovenkrands, Ameobi

Man United XI: Van der Sar, O’Shea, Smalling, Vidic, Evra, Nani, Carrick, Anderson, Giggs, Hernandez, Rooney

The home side are as predicted meaning that Tim Krul replaces the injured Steve Harper. Elsewhere, Cheik Tiote comes straight back into the Toon midfield, with banned Kevin Nolan missing out.

As for the visitors, Chris Smalling replacing Rio Ferdinand doesn’t come as a shock given the latter’s recent injury record. Neither is it a surprising that Luis Nani starts at the expense of Antonio Valencia. One piece of team news that does raise an eyebrow is the total omission of Dimitar Berbatov to the United squad, with no late injury news to report of as yet (EDIT: Sir Alex Ferguson says Berbatov “wasn’t feeling great” earlier today and is the reason why he misses out).

Oh, and Wayne Rooney (swear-jar in hand) takes his place alongside Javier Hernandez up front for the Reds.

Akers Richard or Akers, as he is known, has been regularly haunting this site since July 2008. He is young and foolish, take what he says with a pinch of salt. Follow them on Twitter

        I know I know. But he had about 5 tweets crying about it, then saying he isn't looking for sympathy.

        He shouldn't have been booed, but he should let it go. Shouldn't be letting that upset him.

          Yeah, I suppose, but he sounds like the sort of guy who takes that thing hard. Plus he was only on for about ten minutes so I guess the booing was the dominate feature of his playing time!

          Really? He seems so arrogant to me. Saying that he wont leave unless it's for a top 4 club, how good does he think he is? You would think he would rather be playing then sitting on the bench, obviously not.

                  He could just as easily have gone to LA Galaxy or a similar club for bucket loads of cash, instead he chose to try and be at the top of English football.

                  If anything, he's guilty of overestimating his value to united imo

                  He left because he though he was too good for them. They stuck with him through his injuries and he left them because the got relegated. I have much more respect for Beckham & Henry.

      By the way, im not looking for sympathy. As long as my family don't boo me when I walk through the door I couldn't care less!!

      i'm sure tommorow he'll get over it and realise all the amazing parts of being a top footballer far outweigh moments like that. although i can imagine he's not having a great time of things watching his career peter out and thanks to injuries and ageing in general being utterly frustratingly helpless.

    nasri->dempsey
    simpson->huth
    -4 points, leaves me with 0.0 in bank and the following squad:

    Mignolet
    Luiz, HUTH, Walker
    DEMPSEY(C), Nani, Vdv, Lamps
    Gyan, Rvp, Rooney

    (Adam, Djourou, Carr)

    I feel like charlie who could only afford 2 Wonka Bars, while everyone else has loads. Are my non-DGWers strong enough to pick up the slack? Really hoping gyan can come through home to wigan. plus love the fixtures for the run in,id hate to get rid, vdv is annoying me but with a double coming i feel its unwise to dump now.
    or i could dump adam and simpson for ethers or jarvis and baird if adam is totally crocked and bench nasri then nasri->silva next week.

    phew so what sounds better?

        ehhhh, Myhill. was ready to bring in a keeper but with news of gordon going under the knife mignolet looks safe for the run in. I know the cats form is abysmal atm but i see them having to get better and the combination of cheap price and fixtures pretty much has me sticking with mignolet till the bitter end.

                i just have faith they will turn it around, and the fixtures cant hurt the turn around. if they kept their current form, they could seriously be relegated. Its been very poor of late, but i just dont see it being this poor all the way to the end.

                i will pay the price if im wrong though, granted.

                Definitely, I think most teams on here will have Albion defenders in at the start of next season, providing our fixtures aren't awful.

                Jonas Olsson will be the one, nailed on every game and is a goal threat. Think we'll keep a cleanie pretty soon anyway tbf.

    Sort of re-post from earlier this evening..

    Anyone think the Man City v Stoke match may move again ?? Seeing it end up in GW35 would be pretty interesting ?!

    Apple Bonkers - yes, I was on about it moving again like big Arry's been on about today on SSN, but agree, can't see it happening as it would surely be questioning Stoke's integrity ?

    I can see Arry's point too though - the conspiracy theories would be going through the roof ??

      'Arry complaining is a tad ironic. As the article I read noted, the identical issue coincidentally presents itself that same weekend as Liverpool plays Tottenham, and assuming the presumed City victory in the FA Final, Liverpool could benefit by losing in that Tottenham moving into the #4 spot ahead of City could get Liverpool back into Europa from the #6 spot.

      In the end, it's obviously little more than a motivational ploy (several weeks in advance) to "spur" Stoke to give it their all and avoid any suggestion of having thrown the match. But, personally, I would want some actual evidence before accusing someone of even thinking about match-fixing.

        Do Liverpool really want to be in the Europa League though? It would be an unwelcome distraction in their push for 4th place next season.

        Plus if this season is anything to go by, I doubt anyone who watches football wants them to be in it. They ruined many a Thursday night 🙂

      Personally I wouldn't do it, your front line all have good fixtures and could easily outscore Zamora anyway after the 4pt hit.

      Depends on who your rivals have though, and whether you're in front or behind them ??

          It could work out. I made the mistake of breaking up my team for DGW players this week and I have a red arrow with 52 (-40). You can't bring in a Stoke def because you have Bego, and if you bring in a Fulham or Bol defender, they aren't too useful for the rest of the season.

      I reckon kelly to salcido, bench RJ has a fairly good chance of working in your favour but it's unlikely you will end up more than a couple of points in profit, so it might not be worth risking the 4 points. RJ's always a goal threat at corner kicks too.

      What about setting Huth as captain this week? He could get around 20 points if he get's a goal and a clean sheet over the 2 games and that would be a cool 40 for your captain and probably one hell of a differential as doubt many will have the balls to play that one.

      I'm probably going for 1 change this week and that will be Nasri to either Dempsey or Walters. Thinking of Walters with Zamora possibly taking away a lot of Dempsey's points but I would be stuck with 3 Stoke players! Hopefully not too hard to shift out as I can rotate them for Man City players the week after. Bergovic, Huth, Walters, > Hart, Kolarov, Yaya.

      K-San - I'm also wrecking my brain about transfers this gw.

      Dempsey/Zamora and Etherington/Walters are tempting.

      Can't see myself captaining Zamora. Dempsey always seems to come good in a double gw and if he scores he rakes up BP's, especially at home. But as you say his points have dropped since BZ is back.

I think those 2+ maybe Ohara/jarvis will be ok for my team! None dgw team (except Wolves and to a lesser extent Bolton) have decent fixs until the end! Ohara is like walters for me. If you have the balls to select them then the returns might be very big. Problem is I don't have the balls. 😥

                  I will always select jarvis/ethers.

                    i dont think Ohara is a big risk tho.. wolves have decent fixs and crucial matches vs teams struggling for relegation! If Wolves dont lose, im almost certain Ohara will be getting the bps.. Wolves have been very unlucky imo last game vs Everton

          By the looks of it, Dempsey but a further look into it shows that Fulham have only had 1 pen this year and he missed it! Basically a team that don't get pens and when they do don't score.

          My thinking is everyman and his dog is getting Dempsey in. Get him to stick with the pack and maintain your score or go off the wall and hope it pays off. People that are making changes across the board and getting Jarvis/O'Hara, Etherington/Walters, Dempsey and Zamora just to have 4 DW players will suffer I think. Up to 12 points in hits for essentially players we'd never have in our teams. I'm happier with Rooney, RVP, Nani, A Young, Lampard & one of the above.

              Thanks for the advice. I have "deadwood" with Saha & Welbeck(should have bought BZ or sturridge!)so i need to bring a cheap striker I think and fulham I feel have better fixtures of the double gw teams. I can then also play him vs Sun next week.BZ --> sturridge gw 36 then for Blackpool.

              Nasri needs to go, but will prob come good vs Bolton knowing my luck! The fact that Blackpool are leaking goals makes me wantto get Ethers/Walters since they have double and BP next week.

              I'm telling myself Im basically doing 2 trsfrs for free since both players will at least get 4pts(i hope)

                  Yeah. I wouldn't mind doing Zamora in for Welbeck in addition to the Nasri to Walters move but then who would I pick from this lot for both this week and next week? Involes a 4 point hit but that aint bad considering my rival is certain to take a hit since Bergovic is his only DW player at this stage.

                  Nani, Adam, Lampard, A Young, Walters

                  Rooney, RVP, Zamora

                      Don't you think Zamora is a better bet in gw34 than Sturridge?

                      Im not interested longterm with the cheap striker as I'm planning Rooney in soon(to cover my rival) and who knows if Tevez gets his hands(and hamstring) on some donkey placenta het might be back for gw 36.

                      If not I can get sturridge in for BZ in gw 36 when bolton face blackpool.

                Grrr. The next 4 gameweeks are going to be very difficult. I have no idea who to be picking for each game as can't see a load of Arsenal, Man Utd and Chelsea players racking up the points when they all have such tough games that are likely to be 1-0 either way.

                Grrr.

                  I've got the same problem which is why I'm thinking I need to save my transfer this week and forget about the dgw all together. I really don't know what to do over the next 4gw though.

                    I'm thinking of gonig in with just 3 DGW players rather than four and using the other transfer to bring in a guy who is more likely to haver a prolonged stay.

                    I have to much dead wood to shift out..

                Current team:

                Begovic,
                Kolarov, Smalling, Luiz
                Nani, Walcott, Adam, Lamps , Young
                Bent, RVP

                Subs: Cech, Odem, Simpson, RJ

                Bank: 1.6m

                I'm struggling to find any ddw players I want to get in. I don't want Bol, Ful or Stk defenders, am happy with my mid and will keep Bent until gw37. I could sell Odem for BZ but look at Odem's fixtures after next gw. I really do think I'm better off saving my transfer for trickier times ahead and making the best out of gw36. Any ideas?

                    Walcott -> Dempsey is tempting and may well do it. I agree about Bent & Young but they're both scoring me points and I bought them for their run of fixtures. They are out for gw37 I'm sure someone else has both of them... CHiCoRiTo 😉

                  I really think gw 36's double is more difficult than gw 34. City play ever and spurs, that are not really easy. They have FA cup final.

                  Spurs have Blackpool & Manc.

                  I would not wait.

                    I think Walcott -> Dempsey maybe the way to go. I can't see it worth taking a hit for anyone else as I will only have to ship them out again, effectivle making it an 8pt hit. I agree about gw36 but that is why I want to save as many transfers as poss as I have no idea what to do over the next few weeks!

                So do I take a 4pt hit and lose one of these forwards this week for Bobby Z?

                  For me, it all depends what you intend to do with BZ afterwards. I can't see it's worth getting a playing in for one gw although Torres has be woeful. There again, if you sell him he'll score 3 against WHM.

                    This must be the most uninspiring double gameweeks ever.

                    It doesn't look like anyone is going to have more than 3 or 4 dgw players. Most of us are fancying our single gw players over doublers too.

                            In an odd way, I agree with you.

                            Dgw usually produces one team that no one expects to do well that does.

                            Bolton have, on paper anyway, the worst fixtures. Fulham have the easiest. Stoke and Wolves are similar schedules but the fear is that Stoke may have a cup hangover plus now have players with one eye on keeping injury free for the cup final.

                            Its hard to see Bolton doing much against Arsenal and then going to Fulham who are tight defensively at home.

                            Wolves can't defend but now desperately need wins. They may end up being the surprise package this dgw.

                            If there's going to be a goalfest its probably going to involve Wolves one way or the other, no?

                      I will have(after 4 point hit) O'Hara, Etherington and Zamora.
                      My rival already has Hangeland, Dempsey and Huth.

                      what are my chances of scoring more?

                        Could go either way but i prefer your three, although i'm not really feeling the Zamora hype

                          +1

                          I prefer your 3, just because you dont have any double gw defenders.

                    Thinking of:

                    Kelly -> Fulham defender
                    Adam -> Walters

                    or maybe Gyan -> Bobby Z

                    money isnt too much an option but currently have no DGW players.....thoughts?

                    Morning all

                    got Stoke, Bolton and Wolves coverage for next week, but feel like I need some Fulham too. Soooo:

                    Koscielny -> Hangelaand

                    Nani or Fabs -> Dempsey

                    Odimwingie -> Zamora

                    Which would you go for? Or do 2 of them for -4?

                    cheers

                      yeah, A. Fabregas and Nani both still have potential as their teams are chasing the title.

                        I'd say A too.

                        It looks more likely for Fulham defs to get double figures than their attacking players. Hard to see Fulham scoring a ton of goals but I can see a cleanie in there.

                        Hangeland and Huth are both dgw defs most likely to score a goal too.

                          Cheers all. Got Begovic and Huth playing so could do with a couple of Stoke cleanies!

                    I'm afraid to take more than a 4 point hit in case it doesn't pay off this week. I'd be left over with a lot of average players too in my team.

                      Young or Suarez.

                      Tough choice though.
