There’s just one Premier League fixture this fine Tuesday night, as Manchester United look to strengthen their grip on the title with a visit up to St. James Park and Newcastle United. The Dugout Discussion chatroom has been opened, and offers you a place for your musings as the action unfolds.

As is unfortunately the norm nowadays, there have been one or two differing team sheets for tonight’s game being passed about on Twitter, but this is how they line-up…

Newcastle XI: Krul, Simpson, Williamson, Coloccini, Jose Enrique, Barton, Guthrie, Tiote, Gutierrez, Lovenkrands, Ameobi

Man United XI: Van der Sar, O’Shea, Smalling, Vidic, Evra, Nani, Carrick, Anderson, Giggs, Hernandez, Rooney

The home side are as predicted meaning that Tim Krul replaces the injured Steve Harper. Elsewhere, Cheik Tiote comes straight back into the Toon midfield, with banned Kevin Nolan missing out.

As for the visitors, Chris Smalling replacing Rio Ferdinand doesn’t come as a shock given the latter’s recent injury record. Neither is it a surprising that Luis Nani starts at the expense of Antonio Valencia. One piece of team news that does raise an eyebrow is the total omission of Dimitar Berbatov to the United squad, with no late injury news to report of as yet (EDIT: Sir Alex Ferguson says Berbatov “wasn’t feeling great” earlier today and is the reason why he misses out).

Oh, and Wayne Rooney (swear-jar in hand) takes his place alongside Javier Hernandez up front for the Reds.

Akers Richard or Akers, as he is known, has been regularly haunting this site since July 2008. He is young and foolish, take what he says with a pinch of salt. Follow them on Twitter

It's easy to criticise a system when the side that uses it doesn't achieve what they are either expected to. But there's always more to it than that.

If Barcelona beat United in the CL final next month (likely in my eyes), will it be because they only put one player in the box for a cross, rather than four?

I'm actually quite surprised by the media backlash on Wenger (billions of 'Arsenal are crap' blogs on the guardian website for example), yet only two of the 50 or so biggest sports journos in the country predicted Arsenal would win the league.

I agree, but don't you think Arsenal tend to put in a few too many crosses for a team with so few players in the box though? Both Sagna and Clichy cross a lot and the wingers on the opposite side don't seem to go for the far post very often to me.

I knew you'd say that, and I do remember the conversation but you've changed my words. I said he was more versatile with Rooney and swtiching was a lot less laboured. I also said the only thing he had over Berbatov was pace. But I see you've neglected that.

I havent changed your words. Dont cop out now Anderson.
There were 4 or 5 comments where i talked about for instance berbatov playing v City or blackburn from deep and creating chances for others and you said hernandez was as good if not better.

Also how can he more versatile with Rooney if he is lacking in touch and passing as you yourself say.

And no you didnt say "the only thing" he had over berbatov was pace. Pace wasnt even part of the conversation. It was dropping deep and comparing to the Berbatov. At least say you have changed your mind since or whatever instead of saying I changed your words which we both know i havent.....

Firstly, I did say pace was the only thing he had over Berbs, link the conversation and you'll see that. And I didn'y say Hernandez was a better creator, I agreed with you when you said that was like comparing George best to bebe in wing play. I accept I was wrong that day, but there isn't a chance I said Hernandez was a better creator.

              Q) I prefer Hernandez over Berbatov because,

              a)Goalscoring ability
              b)Pace
              c)Energy

one of the best moments by far, keegan is one of my favourites

i was so bored one day i watched the european final where he being man-marked by berti vogts, keegan was absolutely brilliant. he held the ball up perfectly everytime, always made things happen, he only had one chance, ran through on goal and was hacked down by vogts for a pen. awesome

Think United will get the hairdryer treatment at halftime, they're not bad but they look a bit switched off and SAF will hate that.

I thought Giggs was fine tbh. Anderson is having a mare though.

I trust SAF has seen the bleedin' obvious that Anderson isn't up to it. Get him off for Valencia at half time.

      He's better in a midfield 3 than a 2.

Masterchef; a show where fat gluttonous self obsessed muppets talk down to fellow fatties about food like it was brain surgery- and then let us see them shovel various unpronouceable food-shite into their gaping yap-holes, all narrated by some douchebag that sounds like she was born with a smokers cough and the lungs of a shrew. What a muppet show.

To think a lot of Newcastle fans were slagging Gutierrez a few months ago, I think he's been great lately. Causing a lot of hassle for O'Shea.
