West Brom may seem an unlikely source of end of season Fantasy talent but, form and a batch of favourable fixtures for the Baggies over the final four gameweeks undoubtedly make them well worthy of consideration. Roy Hodgson’s side have hit the 40 point-mark and, while they are mathematically still not clear of relegation from the Premier League, the club’s outstanding recent run of form suggests otherwise.

One defeat in nine matches since Hodgson’s appointment has seen them average two goals per game, a big difference from the previous 31 goals in 25 games under Roberto Di Matteo. Considering they have one clean sheet all season, it’s fair to say West Brom have been reliant on the men up front to fire them to top-flight safety and luckily for Hodgson, he has the services of Peter Odemwingie to rely upon.

Odemwingie has had a dream debut season in the Premier League and with (AVL, wol, EVE, new) still to come, there’s surely some more goals in the Nigerian’s boots between now and the end of the season. The “Hodgson Effect” has had a big impact on his Fantasy Premier League (FPL) points output, too; he averaged a respectable 4.6 points per game (ppg) under Di Matteo, but has soared to 6.4ppg since Roy’s arrival.

While Charlie Adam has been hailed as the Fantasy bargain of the season, a look at Value (Season) in FPL shows Odemwingie has matched the Blackpool man, with both top on 28. Adam is owned by 35.4% of FPL teams but Odemwingie stars in just 12.1%, despite a ridiculously low price of 5.4.

As many Fantasy Managers look to get rid of double gameweek 34 players and with the likes of Chelsea, Man United and Arsenal all facing some tricky upcoming fixtures, a transfer-in for Odemwingie almost seems like a no-brainer; 4 goals, 4 assists and 8 Bonus Points in his last 5 games (a run including clashes with Spurs, Arsenal and Chelsea) marks him as the in-form forward in the Premier League right now and a budget-friendly bargain at that.

Paul Is certain he won't make the same mistakes next season. Follow them on Twitter

      Nani - Silva - VDV - Lampard - A.Young
      Drogba - RVP

    Am planning possible players to bring in during the last 4 game weeks.

    Say United have the league wrapped up by game week 37, do you think SAF would start with Hernandez in both games against Blackburn & Blackpool and save Rooney & Berbatov for the Champions league final (assuming they get to the final)?

      Berbatov certainly wouldn't play in the CL final. He'd probably play Berbatov towards the end, along with Gibson etc.

      I'll probably have Valencia for GW 38.

    Most people have a dispensable options for Odem, but I have Drogba, RVP and Bent.

    I don't want too much money in the bank so I'll give him a miss.

    Bent --> Suarez though, maybe.

      This comment reads like this to me...

      "I've got no strikers I want to sell... I may sell one of my strikers"

      If you may sell Bent for Suarez, surely you may sell Bent for Odemwingie? Heck, he's £4m cheaper too.

        My point is that I don't want too much money in the bank that won't be used. For some reason I don't want Odem, I can't see his form continuing, although he'll probably prove me wrong.

          An argument that defies all known logic, but okay, each to their own. I'd have £50m in the bank if I thought I had the best team - that's all that matters. I've never known someone not buy a player because they are too cheap... curse those savings!

          The second point is different entirely and, of course, completely fine.

        Hmmm...it's a tough fixture and Valencia is the "man" when it comes to those games and SAF will want to get this title run-in done and dusted sooner so...I would reckon he'll play...but do you want him now though when there are other options with easier games? Valencia also will be fresher seeing as he hasn't played for most of the season...and probably needs more game time..

        nani only started off at 8.0m. However, he only got 103 points last year.

        So i'm guessing yes. Not as much as seasoned strikers. I'd say 9.0m for carroll and 8.5m if adam goes to another club.

            Adam has been totally overrated this year. He stands out and gets a lot of the ball at BLP (and loses possession a lot) because his team mates are so naff. He'll be crap next year imo if he goes to another prem team where he's not the only half-decent player.

      I don't think there's every been a Carroll-type, who's gone from small-time championship striker to big signing at a big(ish) club.

      I'd imagine he'll be about 8.5/9.0

      I reckon Adam will be 7-ish if he stays in the league.

    foster (bego)

    lolarov-luiz-carr (foley,simpson)

    lamps-adam-walcott-nani-vdv

    drogs-rvp (sturridge)

    gonna do lamps+sturridge ---> silva+suarez

    I know lamps has a chance of doing well vs spurs but i'm sure he will play deep. sturridge is very doubtful imo, i really don't think he'll make it. and i don't want vdv coming off my bench

    but if i do the transfer i get bp magnet silva and suarez who will do well i'm almost certain

    any suggestions?

      I think Carlo did say he'd like to play Torres and Drogba this weekend, so Lampard may be a little deeper. It's a risk, but I personally quite like those transfers.

      No fan of Lamps, and haven't had him all season, but I'd lose Nani before Fat Frank if I was you.

      That may not give you the cash for Suarez, but enough for Odemwingie.

    Was all set on the conservative transfers of A, but now considering B for the medium term:

    A) GW35 Barton -> Yaya
    GW36 Nani -> VDV

    B) GW35 Barton -> Yaya
    Dempsey -> Silva
    Ivanovic -> Lescott (8 point hit)

    GW36 Nani -> VDV

    I figure may as well take the 8 point hit now rather than two four point hits, to have the better fixtures over two gamesweeks. Lescott frees up the necessary cash and I currently have 2 Chelsea defs.

    Worth B?

      hmm gonna be difficult, i can see what you want and the numbers aren't falling into place.

      i really think chelski have a chance of a cleansheet eventhough spurs will be all out trying to win the game - thats the only advice i can give 🙂
